WWE Main Event 2/28/2024
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/02/wwe-main-event-2212024.html
This show is usually on Hulu by Thursday morning but wasn't on there until Thursday afternoon.
Ivy Nile vs Xia Li
They lock up and let go. Ivy throws her down then takes a kick to the gut. Ivy backslides her then hits boot and a delayed suplex. Xia clubs her on the apron then puts the ring skirt around her head to club her. Xia chinlocks her then Ivy monkey flips her. Ivy is dropped face first on the buckles then Xia stomps on her.
Xia suplexes her then goes back to the chinlock. Xia throws her back then legdrops her. Ivy hits kicks including a high kick then headscissors her over. Ivy flying kicks her in the corner then gutwrenches her for 2. They trade kicks. Xia catches a kick and goes for a crossface. Ivy spin kicks her then puts her in a dragon sleeper to win it.
I liked them exchanging kicks here as we don't normally see a lot of that in WWE. Not much else of interest going on here though they didn't botch anything. There's only so much you are getting out of a cold match with two average workers.
Ivar vs Apollo Crews
Crews side headlocks him and is shouldered over. Ivar knees him in the gut and back elbows him. Crews uses the ropes to headlock takeover him then hits a nice dropkick. Crew then follows it up with a plancha on the outside. Valhallah distracts Crews on the apron then Ivar throws him into the post.
We go to break and return. Ivar armlocks him. Ivar drops a knee on the arm then suplexes him. Valhallah gets on the commentary table, freaking out Road Dogg. Crews forearms and kicks Ivar in the gut. Crews superkicks him then hits a jumping lariat. Crews corner splashes him then hits a top rope crossbody for 2.
Crews pump kicks him then hits standing moonsaults and ssp's. Crews misses a top rope splash then Ivar tiger drivers him for 2. Crews catches a running Ivar and somewhat fallaway slams him for 2. Ivar spinning high kicks him then shoulderbreakers him. Ivar top rope moonsaults him and gets the win.
It was an okay match as expected. Crews got some highlights in with his flips and a big fallaway slams on Ivar. Ivar hit his top rope moonsault on this one but it was one of his tamer matches.
Overall thoughts: Only 2 new matches here as usual. The women's match wasn't anything too special and the main was okay with Crews doing some flips being put down as expected. I wouldn't recommend this.
