NWA Powerrr 2/27/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/02/nwa-powerrr-2202024.html

Why haven't I been covering the NWA? Just a mix of time, them having wrestlers I don't like, them doing intergender stuff and never hearing about them. I honestly forget this show even exists at times with how little coverage it gets.

They hype up tonight's matches.

"Bulletproof" Blake Troop vs Joe Alonzo

Troop is an MMA guy. He pushes him over then double legs him into the corner. Troop waitlocks him and throws him down. Troop does a nice takedown then wristlocks him. They trade wristlocks. Joe uses the ropes to get some space then hits forearms.

Troop puts his hands behind his back and tells Joe to hit him. Joe eye rakes him then clips him. Joe jumps on the leg then kicks him in it. Joe dropkicks him in the knee. Troop hits kicks to the leg and body then Joe trips him. Joe puts his leg under the ring skirt and works it.

Joe top rope crossbodies him then takes a northern lights bomb variation off of it. Troop takes him down and hits shots. Joe stops a suplex and pulls Troop's throat over the top rope. Joe top rope crossbodies him for 2.

Joe springboard lariats him then superkicks him. Joe springboards into a knee then Troop taps him out with the bulldog choke.

I liked this one. It was a good big man vs heelish little man match. Joe used shortcuts to try to even this one up and eventually got caught and lost. Joe's a good heel.

Austin Idol and his crew of Zyon and Anthony Andrews are interviewed. May Valentine says he brought back Anthony Andrews. Idol says he's playing with them and says they are big box office attraction people. Idol says they will continue this as long as they want to. Andrews says he told Idol all of KC Cazana's dirty secrets. Andrews then says "let's ride".

Magic Jake Dumas vs Alex Misery

Alex has a gothic/Darby Allin thing going on. Jake has a big magician top hat and has an interesting jacket.

Magic jumps Alex from behind then hits corner spears. Magic bangs Alex's head off the buckles then hits snake eyes. Magic hits a flying dropkick. Alex goes up and over in the corner then uses the ropes to headscissor him. Alex step up enzugiri's him then springboard dropkicks him.

Alex does a springboard crossbody and it gets rolled into a guillotine from Alex. Magic spinebusters him and chokes him. Magic suplexes him for 2. Alex is thrown hard into the buckles. they fight on the buckles. Magic falls down to the apron and floor then Alex jumps on the bar counters. Alex then jumps off the buckles from there with a tope con hilo.

Alex gets caught in a ddt attempt then Magic tombstones him. Magic tope rope moonsaults him and gets the win.

This is my first time seeing both guys and I liked this one. Alex has a Darby Allin thing going on and really should have earned a full-time spot with this one. He knows how to be an underdog face and does a good job with the crazy character. Magic has some personality to him and an evil look.

The Country Gentlemen (AJ Cazana and KC Cazana) vs Anthony Andrews and Zyon

Austin Idol is out there with Andrews and Zyon. I like old school masked wrestler gimmicks, so I'm a Zyon fan already. Joe Cazana is out there with The Gentlemen.

KC dropkicks AA then double jump crossbodies him. KC then springboard splashes him. AJ comes in nd is pulled out. He brawls with Zyon then Zyon throws AJ in. AJ slams Zyon then elbow drops him. AJ pounds on AA then Zyon boots him.

AA headbutts AJ then is irish whipped into a splash on him. Zyon hits a big boot. Zyon knees and stomps AJ then elbow drops him. AA boots him. Zyon knees and clubs on AJ then first drops him. Zyon chinlocks AJ.

Zyon is thrown over the top by AJ then KC is tagged in. KC hits forearms on both opponents then corner spears both. KC hits corner punches then powerslams AA. Idol tries to get in and Joe stops him. Idol knocks out Joe then AA rolls up KC with the tights when he goes to look at Joe.

It was an okay tag with the faces getting beaten up on here and Idol hitting a cheapshot on Joe to lead to the finish. It's cool to see a father and sons combo which is something we don't see much of anymore.

NWA Women's Tag Titles - Pretty Empowered (Kenzie Page and Ella Envy) vs The King Bees (Dani Bee and Charity King)

Ella's got some personality to her. She locks up with King then piefaces her in the corner. King pushes her then slams her. Ella is tripped into a sliding knee. King trips Page then Page back elbows her. Bee is stunnered over the top rope and takes a nice bump for it. Page pounds on Bee then bangs her head off the buckle.

Ella chops Bee then Bee takes a double wristlock into a double kick. Page sleepers Bee then bangs her head off the buckles. Ella chokes Bee in the corner then Bee takes a double foot choke. Page hip attacks her in the cornr and rubs her butt in her face.

Bee's head is banged off the mat. Ella works the arm hard then Page hits a nasty basement dropkick in the corner on Bee. Bee top rope crossbodies Page then Page codebreakers her. Bee spinning lariats Page then both tag out.

King lariats her opponents then forearms Ella down. King spinebusters Page then samoan drops Ella. Page high kicks King then Ella hits a nice shining wizard on King for 2. Page chinbreakers Bee then pulls her out.

Ella yells at King then King hits a powerslam. King picks up the win and we have new women's tag champs.

It was a solid match with the heels heeling it up and the faces being good faces. Page's basement dropkicks in the corner was nasty here and Ella/Page were really good heels.

Overall thoughts: This was a good show. Alonso/Troop was a good big man vs underdog heel match. Alex Misery had a strong babyface performance against Magic Jake Dumas and hopefully earned himself a contract with it. The Country Gentrlemen's tag match was fine and the main was a good traditional heel vs face tag team match. I didn't expect to like this at all but I enjoyed this one and would recommend it.
