WWC Superestrellas de La Lucha Libre 7/16/2022
This is WWC from Puerto Rico. I reviewed some shows of theirs years ago on this site but I haven't seen WWC since. These shows are brutal for people who do not speak Spanish as they don't have name graphics or even a website, just a facebook group. It's hard to figure out who is who and it's hard in general to figure out what is going on since so much of the show is talking. The only good thing is that youtube has subtitles and you can piece together some of the talking.
The show is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnXuh_VFzk0
I believe Ray Gonzalez came out to talk about the 49th anniversary show before being interrupted. The main heel group named Dynasty interrupted which I believe is Gilbert, Xix Xavant and La Seguridad (two dudes in hats and glasses). Ray said there would be a triple threat title match on that show with Xavant defending against Eddie Colon and Intelecto 5 Estrellas. They also set up Gilbert vs Ray Gonzalez in a match for the Director of the WWC position.
They run down some of the matches for the 49th Anniversary with Damien Sandow, Luke Gallows and Andrade coming in.
We go back to the show and we see Gilbert and a ref talking about something with Gilbert getting soaked.
Gran Armando vs Zcion RT1
Armando is big and gets back body dropped early. He then takes a bunch of dropkicks and goes out. He is then tope'd on. They come back in and Armando hits a shot to the throat. He then his him in the throat with something and hides the weapon. The ref searches for the weapon but can't find anything, so he pulls it back out and uses it again. We go to break and return.
Armando misses a corner splash and Zcion comes back with lariats. Zcion facekicks him and neckbrekaers him for 2. Armando hits a spear then Zcion cutters him. One of the Seguridad gets on the apron and gets knocked off then the other ends up hitting a tope on his partner. Armadno then hits Zcion with something and wins it.
This was a very basic match with interference and a dirty finish, so it wasn't much.
Seguridad beats up on Zcion after and I think Julio Jimenez makes the save for him.
Bear Bronson vs Doc Gallows
This is from some indy. Bear hits some shots and they brawl outside. Bear hits a headbutt then takes a boot and a kick. Doc punches him against the rail. Bear is thrown in then they lariat each other. The Brick City Boyz then run in and jump them both. The BCB's escape then Doc and Bear go after them and bring them back to ringside. And it looks like we got ourselves a tag team match.
The Brick City Boyz (JCruz and Victor Chase) vs Doc Gallows and Bear Bronson
The BCB's are rammed into each other and punched. They go back outside and Cruz is choked by Gallows. Cruz gets hit with a pan and is thrown into Chase. A door and a chair get brought in then Chase takes a magic killer through the door, which is bridged over chairs. He then gets pinned for the Doc and Bear win.
Kind of tough to figure out what was going on as the commentary was overdubbed with spanish commentary. What we got of this really wasn't much.
Damien Sandow does a promo with WWE footage. He says he is excited to come back to Puerto Rico. He says he will go back to WWC and then fight Doc Gallows. He sings something in Spanish and says while he may be a gringo, Puerto Rico is in his heart.
Doc does a promo on Sandow and calls him, "Idol Stevens". He said he will bring a lethal dose of Bullet Club to the island and says he will be his first victim. He says his boot can take a man's head off his shoulders and it starts with Stevens.
We cut to footage of Ray Gonazlez talking then we go to an interview with Huracan Castillo Jr., who the upcoming Anniversario show is for. He thanks WWC for dedicating this show to him. He says the people are important and he is proud. He thanks Carlos Colon and says WWC is the school and encyylopedia of lucha libre.
They talk more about the 49th Anniversary show. Gilbert talks to someone in the back. He says Carlos Colon may be looking for a new job when he wins the Director powers at the Anniversary show.
Overall thoughts: This was a tough show to get through without being able to speak spanish. There wasn't a lot of wrestling on it and what we did see wasn't good.
