New Japan Pro Wrestling 7/17/2022 G1 Glimax 32 Day 2

New Japan Pro Wrestling 7/17/2022 G1 Glimax 32 Day 2

I saw 6 of the matches here:

David Finlay & YOSHI-HASHI vs Team Filthy (Royce Isaacs & Tom Lawlor)

Tom pulls down his shorts to reveal his smaller shorts as usual. Finlay hits a nice dropkick on Royce early and Tom ankle locks Finlay as he is on the apron. Royce then shoulders him off into the rails. Royce and Tom pose and Tom ties up Yoshi while posing. finlay does a nice roll-up on Tom then Tom does a sick over the shoulder throw on him.

Tom guillotine chokes Finlay then Finlay does a nice side swinging backbreaker on his knee. Royce and Yoshi trade forearms then Yoshi neckbreakers him. Tom guillotines Finlay in the ropes then Royce does a nice deadlift-esque german on Finlay. Finlay comes off the bottom rope and cutters him then does a twisting fisherman's neckbreaker on the knee to win it.

Team Filthy was fun hamming it up here and it was okay for an opener.

CHAOS (Hirooki Goto & Kazuchika Okada) & Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, SANADA & Tetsuya Naito)

Goto shoulders Naito over early then hiptosses him. He misses an elbow drop. Naito rolls out of a lariat and poses. Okada shoulders over Naito. LIJ clear off all their opponents then Okada is dropkicked into a camel clutch and a dropkick to the face. Okada hits forearms on Bushi then flapjacks him. Tana dragonscrews Sanada through the ropes and dropkicks Naito. Tana then flipping sentons Bushi for 2 from the 2nd rope.

Goto hits a neckbreaker over the knee on Naito. Tana hits the slingblade on Bushi then high fly flows him from the top to win.

This was short and a total waste of time.

G1 Climax 2022 Block B - Taichi vs Tomohiro Ishii

Taichi drops him with a slap early then does some boot slaps. Ishii then drops him with a forearm. Ishii hits more chops then chop and forearm combos him in the corner. Ishii taps him with his feet lighlty and Ishii fights off his sumo throw and throws him down. Taichi kicks him in the corner and throws his pants at him.

Taichi face kicks him then buzzsaw kicks him. Ishii backdrops him then corner lariats him. Ishii then delay superplexes him for 2. They collide with lariats and forearm battle. They battle lariats again and Taichi highkicks him. Taichi then hits a gamengiri and a nasty last ride. Ishii goes for something and takes a saito suplex for 2.

Ishii dropkicks him then Taichi dropkicks him. Ishii catches a superkick then germans and lariats him. Taichi then lariats him and Taichi backdrops him for 2. Ishii dives with a shoulder on him and enzugiri's him. Ishii then sliding lariats him for 2. Taichi hits another gamengiri then takes a headbutt. Ishii charges into him and gets a forearm then Taichi hits a schwein and wins it.

It was action packed and more entertaining than I had expected. They got a little too happy with the no selling later on and a lot of the moves at the end didn't really mean that much. It was still probably one of the better Taichi matches I have seen though.

G1 Climax 2022 Block A - Toru Yano vs JONAH

Yano tries to spray him with something during intros. Yano tries to give him a t-shirt and yells "friendship". Jonah throws it down and pounds on him. Yano puts the shirt around his face and tries to roll him up. Jonah finds tape in Yano's pants. Yano runs away and runs into Bad Dude Tito outside and Jonah lariats him against the rails. Jonah legdrops him for 2.

Jonah bearhugs him on the mat then back elbows him. Jonah misses a senton. Yano takes off a turnbuckle pad and Jonah splashes him into it. Jonah then goes into the exposed buckle and slams him. Jonah then rolling shoulder tackles him. Yano atomic drops and belly to belly suplexes him. Jonah bodyblocks and sentons him for 2.

Jonah goes up top and Yano rolls out. Yano is thrown into the rails. Yano pushes Tito into Jonah, low blows both and gets back in the ring before the 20 count to win.

This went longer than it needed to and Jonah was made to look like a goof here taking offense from Yano and getting outsmarted. It should have just been a quick squash.

G1 Climax 2022 Block C - Zack Sabre Jr. vs KENTA

They argue over who is the senpai. Zack face shoves him and they trade facekicks. Zack catches one and twists his foot then Kenta knees him to the gut. Zack gets thrown into the rails and Kenta hits him with kicks. They go outside and Zack wraps Kenta's foot around the rail. Zack ties up his legs inside and bow and arrows him.

Zack footslaps him and they trade euro uppercuts. Zack kicks him in the back and drops down, begging him to do it to him. Zack then twists his neck with his feet. Kenta powerslams him then tornado ddt's him over the top rope. Kenta then top rope lariats him. He hits a strike combo and Zack cranks on his arm. They trade strikes and Zack wins the exchange with a dropkick to the arm. Kenta bridging ddt's him and dropkicks him against the bottom buckle.  Kenta then top rope double stomps him for 2.

Zack hits some slaps then takes some hard slaps back. Zack ankle locks him then Kenta knees him hard in the chest. Kenta then baisaku knees Zack for 2. Kenta slaps him a bunch of times and Zack does an arm and leg hold to win.

I liked the slaps and hatred but the rest of it was just submission attempts that didn't really go anywhere. I thought it also went too long.

G1 Climax 2022 Block D - Juice Robinson vs Shingo Takagi

Juice jumps him during intros and yells for the bell to be rang. They fight outside and Shingo is thrown into the rails. Juice throws Shingo in the rails then is shouldered over. Shingo then drops him on the apron and suplexes him inside. Shingo hits some elbow drops and they go outside again where Shingo is pushed into the rails. Juice lariats him on the rails.

Juice hits a chop and punch combo in the corner. They trade punches and Juice backdrops and sentons him. Juice then leg lariats him for 2. Juice hits punches and takes a nice backdrop. Shingo then ddt's him and suplexes him for 2. Shingo hits some downward elbows to the chest then Juice john woo dropkicks him in the corner. Juice then cannonballs him for 2.

The two trade headbutts up top and Juice superplexes him. Juice full nelson bombs him for 2 then fireman's carry gutbusters him. Shingo then hits a gori special drop. Shingo then wheelbarrow german suplexes him and sliding lariats him for 2 at 15 minutes. Juice rolls Shingo up wiht the tights in hand and pushes the ref over as they argue. They collide with lariats then Shingo elbow slices him as he is bridged on the ropes.

Shingo then lariats him for 2. Juice hits some hard lariats and they headbutt each other then Shingo forearm combos him. Juice hits a hard left punch and an unprettier for 2. They trade lariats then Shingo punches and headbutts him. Shingo then hits a big lariat and Juice hits another unprettier for the win.

The ending was really anti-climatic for some reason. The crowd just died as I guess they didn't expect the win. There was some good stuff here with the punches and stiff shots, but it just didn't fully click like it should have.

Overall thoughts: Didn't look like a great night of action and wasn't. Both the main and semi-main had some good parts to them, but I wouldn't call them great matches. Jonah/Yano sucked, Taicihi/Ishii was mostly good and the 6 man was such a waste of time.
