Stardom 6/26/2022 - Fight in the Top ~ Nagoya Summit Battle ~

Stardom 6/26/2022 - Fight in the Top ~ Nagoya Summit Battle ~

I saw 5 of the 6 matches.

Queen's Quest (Lady C & Miyu Amasaki) vs. STARS (Momo Kohgo & Saya Iida)

Momo dropkicks Miyu early and C gets knocked off the apron. Iida casadora's Momo and drops her on Miyu for 2. Miyu hits a forearm flurry on Iida then is dropped with a chop. Iida slams her. Miyu gets tied up in the ropes and Momo dropkicks her.  Momo misses a dropkick and takes a cartwheel back elbow from Miyu. Miyu then dropkicks her.

C gets in and hits facekicks on both opponents then giant swings Momo. Iida and Momo get banged into each other then C abdominal stretches both. Momo dropkicks her and tags out. Iida and C trade chops then Iida hits a nice sledgehammer shot. C then takes a combo sandwich move from Iida and Momo. Iida keylocks C then Momo 619's C. Iida then top rope shoulders C for 2.

C hits a big chokeslam on Iida then C flying clotheslines both opponents. Iida hits a big lariat on her then keylocks C. Iida then armbars her and wins it.

This was just a short opener with everyone in a rush to get some stuff in through the short time they had. It wasn't great or anything but they did keep it moving.

 Mina Shirakawa vs Himeka

Himeka wraps Mina's towel around her face and neck as she poses in the ring. Mina rolls her up with her jacket on and tries pin attempts. She then bangs Himeka's knee off the mat. Himeka comes back with a samoan drop and shoulders her over. Mina dropkicks her in the knee. Mina then reverse ddt's her and sliding dropkicks her. Mina figure fours her. Himeka gets out and hits a nice lariat. Mina step up enzugiri's her for 2 then basement dropkicks her. Himeka then reverses her figure four attempt and rolls her up to win.

It was quick but okay with the leg work playing into the finish.

Artist Of Stardom Title Three Way Elimination Match - Oedo Tai (Momo Watanabe, Saki Kashima & Starlight Kid) (c) vs. Donna del Mondo (Giulia, Maika & Mai Sakurai) vs. God's Eye (Ami Sourei, MIRAI & Syuri)

I'm not the most familiar with some of the midcard Stardom girls and may confuse them in 9 person match.

Momo and Syuri trade kicks early then kick each other in the leg at the same time. The girls all try to throw Saki over the top to eliminate her and we get some people fighting outside. Momo meteora's 2 opponents at the same time off the apron. Mirai gets kicked around by Momo then Momo and Saki take a bulldog/cutter at the same time. Maika and Mai shoulder over everyone then Momo double meteora's both. Kid cartwheels into a headscissors on Maika.

Maika double suplexes Kid and Mirai then Giulia double dropkicks Kid and Mirai off the top. Kid headlock takeovers Giulia then headscissors Mirai at the same time. Giulia hits a stiff forearm on Mirai then Mirai lariats her. Saki takes a whole train of corner lariats then a 6 person kick. Kid hten standing moonsaults Mai. Everyone gets stacked in the corner and one by one, they take corner attacks.

We get a tower of doom spot. Kid takes a double team electric chair flip drop then Saki and Momo take stereo germans. Someone nearly is eliminated after a lariat over the top. We get a fight on the apron and Kid somehow holds on and bulldogs Syuri and Giulia off to eliminate them. Kid also should be eliminated but who knows. Mirai wheelbarrow germans Maika then Maika hits a stiff spinning lariat on her. Momo then meteora's Maika from the top. Maika takes a bad facebuster from the 2nd rope and Mirai lariats Saki and Momo.

Momo dropkicks Mirai and Maika off the apron to eliminate them. Momo then gets eliminated. Saki takes a 2v1 from Mai and Ami. Ami dropkicks Mai and Saki pins her then Mai blue thunders Saki. Saki rolls up Mai and wins the match.

This was good as expected. It went 100 MPH with a bunch of multi-person moves. It was a total spotfest of course, but that's what these types of matches are supposed to do and I liked it. This just had endless action.

Cage Match - Tam Nakano vs Natsupoi

I believe you have to get a pin or a submission then you can try to escape.

They stare down and Tam throws her by the hair. Tam bangs Poi's head off the cage. Tam then hits a stiff bolo punch and mounts and pounds her. Tam then pushes her head into the cage. Tam sits on the top rope and Poi jumping kicks her in the cage. She then dropkicks her into the cage as she is down and pushes Tam's face into the cage. Poi then pushes her head into the cage with her feet. Poi then climbs the cage and drops down with a footstomp on Tam.

Poi messes up getting on Tam's shoulders and pins her, but this doesn't end the match. They both fall off the top rope into the cage and Tam germans her for 2. Tam gets a pin on her and tries to escape. They fight up top and Poi takes an axe kick down, then recovers and germans Tam off the top.

Poi then twisting splashes her off the top for 2 and Tam comes back with a straightjacket german. Poi then tiger suplexes her and straightjacket germans her for a pin. They both trade slaps on top of the cage. They trade slap and Tam falls down the cage. Tam hits a stiff spin kick then takes a german. Tam then hits a nice tiger suplex for 2. Tam then buzzsaw kicks her for 2. Tam hits a stiff double hammerlock suplex and a stiff falcon arrow. Tam pins her and climbs the cage, then dragon sleepers her and then sleepers her from the the top of the cage. Poi passes out and Tam climbs out to win.

This was a very strong cage match and is a definite MOTYC. The rules were different, but they worked. It covered the nagging issue of escape the cage rules where people wouldn't escape when they could have. They brought the hate here, the work was stiff and they really put on a good match. I really liked this one and strongly recommend it.

Tam gets back in and after and talks to her. Then they get back on the mic and Poi still seems upset with her.

Steel Cage Match - Queen's Quest (AZM, Saya Kamitani & Utami Hayashishita) vs. STARS (Hazuki, Koguma & Mayu Iwatani)

People try to escape the cage to start. All 6 girls fight and try to do stereo moves then I think we got a 6 person kip up. Everyone tried to escape again. Koguma takes a triple dropkick. Koguma and Saya go at it and Mayu tries to escape then gets stopped. Koguma gets slammed around then Hazuki sentons AZM.

Hazuki uses the cage to flip into then armdrags 2 opponents. Hazuki's team then facewashes all opponents at the same time and tries to escape. AZM's team then triple dropkicks Hazuki in the corner. Saya and Hazuki trade pump kicks then do it at the same time. We get a triple submission spot and Utami tries to climb the cage with Mayu on her back. Mayu then gets off and tries to climb out. Utami superplexes two opponents at the same time then Mayu hurricanrana's Utami off the top.

Mayu top rope frogsplashes Utami then hits a nice dragon suplex on her. Mayu walks up the ropes and bounces off to armdrag two opponents. Mayu then superkicks Utami. We get some dropkicks and Koguma is northern lights suplexed by Saya. AZM gets helped up to the top rope and moonsaults. Mayu and her partner then spears 3 opponents into the cage and AZM is ddt'd over the middle rope.

AZM is at on the top then Mayu is lifted into a nice shotgun dropkick on her. Mayu's partners then help her up the cage and she escapes. Hazuki reverses a magic killer attempt. Says is thrown into the buckles but walks up them and escapes to the outside as her partner springboard dropkicks her opponents. Hazuki takes a high kick and olympic slam combo.

Hazuki forearm flurries AZM then AZM and Hazuki both try to escape the cage. Hazuki then plancha's off the cage then climbs out on the other side. Koguma takes a 3D right after.

Koguma hits a wild la mistica on AZM then Utami climbs out during it. AZM and Koguma trade shots then chase each other up to the top of the cage and have a stare down up there. They play rock, paper scissors as they decide who should cross over to the other. They slap each other after rounds and climb back in the cage. AZM top rope double footstomps Koguma then AZM takes a release german suplex.

AZM hits another wild release suplex on her then does the Kaoru Ito tribute double stomp off the cage onto her. AZM is pushed off the cage and takes a wild bump then Koguma jumps off the cage onto opponents, partners and ring girls to escape and win the match.

This was a fun match. It had some logic and realism issues with people climbing down when they shouldn't have and the rock, paper scissors spot which didn't make much sense. Blood really would have helped this, but it's the 2020's and that's a rarity these days. They kept it moving, they did some cool spots with the cage and the girls really bumped big for this one.

Overall thoughts: The top 3 matches all delivered and made this one a strong show. The Tam/Poi match is a MOTYC and worth a watch.
