WWE NXT UK 3/11/2021
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2021/03/wwe-nxt-uk-432021.html
Heritage Cup Rules - Dave Mastiff vs Tyler Bate
Round 1 - Bate bridged and Dave sat on him, which Bate held. Bate gets flipped from a wristlock and that's it for R1.
Round 2 - Bate armdrags Dave but Dave rolls and hangs on. Bate jumps onto the 2nd rope and tries to do a sunset flip but he barely makes it over and rolls up Bate to win the first fall.
Round 3 - Bate hits a nice jab. They trade forearms and Bate hits a wild right hand. Bate puts Dave on his shoulders but Dave rolls back and pins him to take it 1-1. Next pin wins.
Round 4 - Tyler is holding his neck and gets slammed. Dave does a nice throw. Bate goes for a hurricanrana but gets caught in a big powerbomb. Dave then forward rolls with Bate on his shoulders and Bate rolls out. Dave whips him into the barricades and rails and flips him into the barricades. Bate beats the count back in and takes a senton on his back for 2 and we end the round.
Round 5 - Bate tries to deadlift german Dave but hurts his back on it. Bate gets thrown into the buckles and collapses then gets THROWN on a release german. Dave charges at him but takes a koppo kick. Bate lifts him for an airplane spin, which Nigel calls a 747. Bate then does a twisting 450 and wins it.
It was okay. The first round was mostly a waste and them blowing the finish to the first fall in R2 sucked. It got a little better as Bate sold his lower back. The main problem with the rounds system is that we've been trained to think that these guys can kick out of multiple finishers, yet they go down easy in these matches.
Andrews and Webster were interviewed. They said they know what it is like to be the underdogs and they can't underestimate their opponents. Williams and Jordan were interviewed. They said they have beaten the NXT UK tag champs before and who says they can't do it again? Andrews and Webster says this match is the next step up on the NXT tag title ladder. Jordan and Williams say similar things after they win tonight.
Next week the show is on at 4PM, probably due to something with the clock changes in the US.
Aoife Valkyrie did a video. She kept saying "I'll show you" and was talking to herself or an unknown person.
Teoman vs Danny Jones
This is Teoman's debut. We all know what is going to happen here. DJ tries to headflip out of a wristlock but is put down. Teoman slaps DJ hard in the ear. Temo keeps slapping him and DJ tries to fire up but is put down. DJ hits a nice rolling forearm into a backstabber. Teoman comes back with a missile dropkick to the back then he double stomps DJ's back. Teoman then wins with a crossface. This wasn't bad but the outcome was obvious.
Xia Brookside called Nina Samuels. She said she needs her room cleaned and said "this mess is just for you".
Eddie Dennis was talking to The Hunt behind a cage. He was mad at Wild Boar, saying he seperated himself from Eddie and made him get hurt. Tyson T-Bone then appeared and threw Boar aside and appears to be a new member of The Hunt.
We got a package on Amale. She said she's happy to be here and that the French people have her back.
Gallus are at an empty billards hall. They said they need to get back on track after losing the titles.
Kenny Williams and Amir Jordan vs Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster
I'm really not into the Williams and Jordan team. I don't think either one are that good and they don't feel like a natural pair. Andrews runs up Webster's back with a dropkick on Williams. Jordan hits a northern lights on Andrews and Jordan cartwheels out of a throw. Andrews backflips Webster onto Jordan then moonsaults onto Jordan.
Jordan comes back with forearms a little later. Andres fights off a 2v1 and double backflip kicks both. Andrews 619's Williams through the ropes then moonsaults Jordan off the apron. Kenny takes a double team shiranui and Webster does a standing inverted 450. Webster reverses a suplex into a stunner then Andrews does a flipping senton onto Jordan's back for 2. Williams dropkicks Andrews hard through the ropes then does a springboard back elbow. Williams get headbutted and rebounds off the ropes into a big lariat on Webster.
Williams is bleeding from the nose or mouth. He gets pushed into the ref in the corner and low blows Webster then hits a headlock driver for the win, to Jordan's dismay. This wasn't bad and was a fine back and forth tv match.
We get a video package on Ilja Dragunov snapping on people. We are told he will speak next week.
Trent Seven does a segment. He said his weigh-in for the Cruiserweight title will be on "The Bump" next week. He said it has been some of the hardest training of his life. He is shown training with Tyler Bate and says he is confiden on the work he has put in. He says he knows he will make the weight limit.
Ben Carter does a video package. He said nobody knew who he was a year ago and he is living his dream. He said he is making a brand new start and therefore, he needs a new name - Nathan Frazer. The new name is bad and I don't get the need for it at all.
Jinny and Joseph Conners vs Piper Niven and Jack Starz
As always, I don't review intergender matches, but if it's female vs female and male vs male only, I'll do it. I'm not excited for it though. The build to this sucked.
Jack does a nice takeover early. Conners deadlifts Jack from the mat but Jack gets out and dropkicks him. Piper and Jinny get in. Piper leg sweeps her and sentons her. They go back out quick and Jack gets some offense in on Conners. Conners bangs Jack's head off the mat and he hangs over the apron, then Jinny koppo kicks him. Jack misses a crossbody and rolls to the outside and Jinny goes for a cheapshot but Piper interrupts and she backs off.
Piper chases Jinny around and body blocks her, then throws her multiple times. Piper then splashes her and pounds on her. Jinny hits a bad koppo kick. Conners tags himself in and yells at Piper, Piper slaps him and throws him into a Jack suplex. Then Jack and Piper cannonball their opponents in each corner. Piper hits a michinoku driver on Conners then throws Starz on him for the win.
This wasn't too bad until the finish. Piper drivered Conners and if Conners can't hit Piper without getting disqualified, why can Piper do it? This should have been a DQ and even Nigel pointed it out.
Overall thoughts: I had no interest in watching the main and I really put this show off for a while because of it. They did a good job getting various wrestlers on the show in various ways and none of the matches were bad, but the finish to the main sucked.
