MLW Fusion Episode #126 3/24/2021
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2021/03/mlw-fusion-125-3172021.html
Contra's hype man does a promo to start. He said he can feel the fear from Injustice. He said Contra will unleash a campaign of horrors, especially on Calvin Tankman. He said everyone says they can take Fatu's title...before their execution. He said first Tankman has to survive tonight and throws fire.
Tonight's main event is a chain ropes math with The Von Erichs and ACH vs Team Filthy.
Gino Medina vs Zenshi
Zenshi throws a face covering at Gino to start. Gino take a dropkick and rolls out early. Zenshi flips in from the outside and then poses. Zenshi counters a powerslam into a hurricanrana then does a nice leg sweep into a standing moonsault. Zenshi springboards into a code breaker.
Gino bullies Zenshi a little and tries to rip off Zenshi's mask in the corner. St. Laurent tells us Gino wants a shot at Holliday's Carribean title. Zenshi flips on a standing Gino from the top then hits a pele kick a little later. Zenshi does a handspring crossbody off the ropes then a neat twisting slingshot senton on Gino. Zenshi gets thrown face first into the top buckle then stands on the bottom rope to kick Gino. Gino comes back with a brazilian kick and wins it. Not too bad. Zenshi has his own little unique style and doesn't overdo it.
Alicia Atout tells us that Tom Lawlor says he is injured and can't go. They said they are looking into it.
Myron Reed did a promo. He said he felt like he was on top of the world when he was middleweight champ. He said Contra humiliated him before he could process all of that. Reed said Daivari stuck his nose where he shouldn't of and he is going to wrestle him next week.
Gringo Loco vs Mil Muertes with Salina de la Renta
The Azteca Underground guy is also there. Mil is still wearing the MLW Openweight title he stole and Salina has a skull with her. Rich brings up him wearing the title and St. Laurent asks if he prefers if he puts it over his shoulder in a funny line.
Gringo tries a chest slap and Mil doesn't budge. Gringo does a flip and headspring out of the corner then gets jumped on by Mil. Mil hits a nice straight punch to Loco that made his head cover fall off. Loco goes into the ring post then Mil misses a lariat and hurts his arm on the post. Loco charges at Mil and gets a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on the floor.
Mil bangs Loco's head off the mat. Salina pulls on Loco's beard behind the ref's back then Mil catapults Loco's neck into the bottom rope. Loco hits some corner lariats then hits another nice punch. Loco goes up top and hits a corkscrew flip then kicks him in the head. Loco then hits a cutter while Mil is on his knees, but it is only for 1.
Mil then hits a spinning chokeslam but it is only for 2. Mil powerslams him and Salina chokes Loco on the ropes. St. Laurent says she had to defend herself. Loco goes for some kind of springboard and takes a reverse sto for the Mil win. This went a little longer than it needed to since Mil doesn't sell that much and this couldn't be much more than a squash because of it.
Alexander Hammerstone is interviewed. He said he is tired of people asking him if he lost his title(since Mil is wearing it). He calls Mil a phony and a fraud. He says Mil is getting his shot at 3/14 but he should shut his mouth until then.
Alicia Atout updates us. Lawlor has an injured bicep and won't compete. They said it will now be just The Von Erichs vs Violence is Forever in the chain match.
We get a Calvin Tankman promo. He said he gives everything he got to take care of his daughter. He said he keeps swinging for the fences and said there is no give up.
We do the PWI Top 5 tag team rankings. Injustice is #3, Violence is Forever is #2, The Von Erichs are #1 and Los Parks are the MLW World Tag Team Champions.
We get an update on Bu Ku Dao. He will be out 2-3 weeks after being attacked in the locker room. TJP made short jokes about him online and was fined $2,500 for the attack. They said we will hear from Dao next week.
Sentai Death Squad's Zad vs Calvin Tankman
Usually the SDS members don't have names. Rich said "I suppose that's somebodies son". They trade shots to start and Tankman chops at him, then shoulders him off. Tankman hits a spinebuster on him and hits a hard backfist to the back of the skull to win in a quick squash.
Contra Unit then comes out and Tankman does a tornillo on them. Injustice then comes out to make the save and we get a brawl. Tankman hits a Tankman driver on Daivari and Oliver fights with Fatu to the back in a fun little fight.
The Von Erich's do a promo. They sai it is convenient that Tom won't be wrestler. Marshall calls Tom a yellow coward. Ross says let's focus on Dom and Ku and Marshall said he should claw Ku until his ears bleed. Marshall then says he's going to whip 'em with the chains. Marshall was entertaining here.
Salina was interviewed. She was asked if Mil was accept Hammer's challenge and she said it has already been signed. Salina refuses to answer the questions about Azteca Underground. The Azteca Underground guy then says El Jefe isn't happy and they shoo the camera's away.
Tom Lawlor does a promo. He said Dom and Ku are going to break the Von Erich's hands with the chains and choke them out. He said The Von Erich's will pay finally.
Never Say Never Control Center - No real news here. They just ran down next week's card.
Chain Ropes - The Von Erichs vs Violence Is Forever with Tom Lawlor
The ropes have been replaced with chains and there are no turnbuckles. There's no tags here either. Tom Lawlor is out there with his arm in a sling. I've always wanted to see a chain ropes match. I had the idea for it a long time ago and this is one of the first uses of it that I've seen. I don't know why they did a bait and switch here with Lawlor.
They all fight to start. Dom hits a nice forearm on Marshall and Garrini takes a northern lights suplex. ViF gets thrown into the ropes and they both almost fall out. The Von Erich's then go through them and Ross falls and gets his head stuck on the ropes which had to hurt. Dom grabs some of the free chain and Tom ties up Marshall with it.
Ku ties up Ross and slaps him then Dom taunts him and slaps him. Ku puts Ross in the STF. ViF kicks Marshall in the back. Tom tries to mess with Marshall again and he fights ViF 1v2. Marshall hits a nice strike combo. Marshall the spinning clotheslines Dom and Ku gets dropped on Dom.
Marshall goes for a dropkick but Dom catches him with a heel hook. Ku then guillotine chokes Ross, but Ross suplexes him onto Dom. They fight on their knees and trade more shots. Ku and Ross go into the chains then Marshall gets crotched on the chains. Ross takes a go to sleep and a hard dragon suplex.
Tom grabs brass knucks in his sling and throws them in, but Marshall catches them. Marshall nails both opponents. Marshall puts the claw on Dom and they claw + backdrop Dom for the Von Erich's win. This was a fun and an unusual stipulation. It would have been better with blood and a little more chain usage but I enjoyed this one.
They show clips from Contra and Injustice's feud to close the show.
Overall thoughts: Not a bad edition of MLW. They squeezed a decent bit of wrestling in which is unusual for them and they got us excited for the big show next week. The main was fun and at only 7 minutes, you might as well check it out.
