AEW Women's World Championship Eliminator Tournament 2/15/2021

AEW Women's World Championship Eliminator Tournament 2/15/2021

I'll be doing selected matches only.

This is from the Ice Ribbon Dojo. I've been there. It's kind of hard to find. It is a small place that basically looks like a garage on the inside. These matches are pre-taped.

Yuka Sakazaki vs Mei Suruga

Mei scares Yuka early. She teases a springboard armdrag but doesn't do it for some reason, then does it on the 2ndtime around. Mei rolls around Yuka on the mat and does a cutesy pinning pose for 2. Mei bridges out of a pin attempt but gets suplexed soon after. Mei really gets choked when Yuka puts a headscissors on her and then hangs over the top. Yuka does a top rope cartwheel to escape Mei and STF's Mei. Mei hits the ropes though and does a bad springboard into what we were told was a legsweep but we couldn't really see it. Mei flips forward and pulls on Yuka's neck while Yuka lays, then goes over top of her and bridges back into a double armbar, which looked dumb.  Mei then puts the indian deathlock on but Yuka hits the ropes.

Mei does a springboard double axe handle onto Yuka and Yuka does a diving back elbow from the 2nd rope. Yuka then brainbusters her. Mei gets 2 on a bad pinfall attempt then they blow something. Yuka does a forward rolling snapmare on Mei and kicks her, then does a sliding lariat for 2. Yuka hits like a northern lights bomb then 450's her off the ropes to win. This wasn't good. Mei's offense looks awful and they had multiple sloppy spots.

Maki Itoh vs Ryo Mizunami

Maki does her song and dance and Ryo does some weird facials while taking her off necklace. The ref checks Ryo's boots and she slaps Tommy Ran's back while she bends over. That should be a fine. Itoh teases a clean break then nails her and Rio gives her a harder shot back as she cries over it. Ryo comes over and Maki steps on her foot then mocks her. Maki runs into her shoulder and gets knocked down.

Ryo bows then does her stupid individual rope pull before lariating Itoh. Maki does a comeback and hammerlock DDT's her. Ito hit some horrible corner punches and did a side diving headbutt. Ito put her in a crab and Ryo basically laughed out of it.

Ito and Ryo traded some good forearms and Ito flurries her with forearms, then Ryo drops her with some combination forearms. Ryo lariats her then rushes her, but is rolled into a single leg crab. Ito blocks a lariat then headbutts Ryo's arm and starts headbutting the top turnbuckle. Itoh headbutts Ryo and Ryo tries to give her one back but Ito isn't affected.

They headbutt each other at the same time and push each other with their heads. Ito tornado ddt's her for 2. She misses a top rope headbutt then Ryo spears her for 2. Ryo rolls her with a head and arm submission and wins in a bad match. Awful joshi comedy and I just can't believe they did this here. It is also odd that they didn't have Maki win as everyone assumed she would be the favorite to the win the tournament.

Aja Kong vs Rin Kadokura

Rin tries some forearms early but is knocked down easy by Aja. Aja knocks her down again and does a jumping elbow drop. Aja steps on RIn's hand and stomps it. Aja does a nasty sit out piledriver for 2. Rin jumps up on Aja for a ddt then dropkicks her from the top. Rin forearm flurries Aja and drops down but gets sat on. Aja nails her with a hard kick in the gut.

Aja goes up to the second rope and is thrown down then Rin tornado ddt's her, then she hits a very weak corner cannonball. Aja hits a hard Saito suplex on Rin. She punches her and clotheslines her for 2. Aja then does a 2nd rope back elbow for the win. This was little more than a squash.

Overall thoughts:
Who booked this crap? This is not the type of show I would show people who haven't seen much joshi before and this was hardly the best joshi had to offer.
