AEW announces a new show called "AEW Dark: Elevation" on Mondays at 7PM
In the announcement for the singing of Paul Wight, AEW also announced that they will be having a new show called "AEW Dark: Elevation" on Mondays at 7PM with Paul Wight being one of the commentators for it. The show will have a mix of indy wrestlers and AEW wrestlers.
The announcement isn't out of the blue. Tony Khan mentioned wanting to make a new show called "Elevation" a while ago and it has been said that AEW Dark would probably be split into two shows. AEW has also been running specials lately involving the Women's Tournament on Mondays at 7PM, which assuredly wasn't an accident.
I've been pretty vocal about my dislike for Dark. It's a 2 hour show, filled with matches that don't matter involving wrestlers who don't matter. It's a very long show as it is 2 hours straight with no commercials that you can skip through to shorten the show and it is usually not very fun to watch. I'd love it if the show was split up into two one hour shows but I am not interested in Elevation if it becomes a 3rd hour of Dark. And right now, it seems like Elevation will just be a 3rd hour of Dark.
I like the new show being on at 7PM on Mondays. It's a nice warm-up for Raw, though it makes for a long night for some since people who want to also watch Raw will have to watch 4 hours of wrestling on Mondays. I could definitely some others also using this show as a warm-up. I do think this show will probably take some viewers away from Dark, as an AEW fan will now be expected to watch Elevation on Monday for one hour, Dark on Tuesdays for two hours and Dynamite on Wednesdays for two hours. According to Tony Khan, AEW is still planning on doing a second TNT show too, which means AEW fans may be expected to watch 7 hours of TV a week, which is too much.
One other note is that I think the name is dumb. Most people are just going to call this Elevation since it is easier to type out.
