Ice Ribbon New Ice Ribbon #1090 ~ RibbonMania 2020 12/31/2020
アイスリボン後楽園大会「RIBBONMANIA2020」
This is Ice Ribbon's big end of the year event and it usually delivers.
Miku Aono, Ram Kaicho, Satsuki Totoro & Yappy vs. Banny Oikawa, Matsuya Uno, Rina Shingaki & Tae Honma
Aono is way too hot for this stuff and Ram has a full M. Bison outfit on. Everyone gets whipped into each corner then rammed into early and 3 girls get submitted while Totoro stands on Banny. Yappy does a couple of good butt drops onto Banny. Banny gets hung up on the 2nd rope and charged on.
Yappy does a spinning backbreaker onto Rina then Aono hits her with a good dropkick. Aono gets nailed with a double dropkick and Tae armbars her over the top. Totoro splashes Tae's back and Aono backdrops Tae. Tae does a flying armbar but everyone comes in to break it up.
Ram does a stunner to Uno and 619's her, then everyone gets something on Ram. Uno does a nice spear to Ram for 2 and Totoro crossbodies her. Ram then hits a strong lariat to Uno but everyone breaks up that pin attempt. Ram hits a codebreaker for another 2. Uno does a nasty bow and arrow with the leg hooked around the head on Ram and wins it in a short and good match.
Nao Ishikawa vs. Yuki Mashiro
Yuki comes to the ring with an oversized cardboard belt.
Yuki pokes Nao in the eyes early and rolls her up and does rolling backslide pins to her. Nao gives her an x-factor and a camel clutch, then crabs her. Nao pounds on her with chest forearms in the corner and stomps on the cardboard belt. Nao then pounds on Yuki again and throws the belt outside. Yuki dropkicks Nao and Nao goes up top, but Yuki goes for a drink of water and then climbs the other corner.
Yuki dropkicks Nao and they trade chest forearms. Nao does a cartwheel into a pin attempt and Yuki tries to pin her. Yuki does a bad armdrag and then Fujiwara armbars her. They trade pin attempts and Yuki wins it. This was okay until the 2nd half when it just went off track leading to the unusual finish. Nao takes some free shots on Yuki after in revenge. And Yuki poses with her broken title.
Hamuko Hoshi, Nanae Takahashi & Tsukasa Fujimoto vs. Ibuki Hoshi, Rina Yamashita & Tsukushi Haruka
Hoshi's team gets attacked at the bell. For reasons that don't really make sense, Tsukushi puts Nanae in a camel clutch and then Ibuki puts her in one and Rina does the same. And during this, Tsukasa and Fujimoto pose then Tsukasa kicks Nanae for some reason. Tsukushi steps on Nanae's hands and slaps her on the head, then jumps on them. She then ties her up in the ropes and slaps her in the head before dropkicking her.
Ibuki comes in and Nanae throws her by the hair. She footslaps her and Ibuki comes back. Nanae ooks for a tag, but Rina throws her into her corner for a triple team. Rina forearm flurries her and lariats her, then Nanae gives her a forearm flurry back. They continue to trade and then shoulder battle, which Nanae wins. Tsukasa tags in and her team all charges Rina in the corner. Nanae and Hoshi both bend over and Tsukasa jumps up them into Rina in the corner. Rina backdrops Tsukasa though to end that then suplexes her. She tried to suplex Nanae onto Tsukasa, but she had moved.
Tsukasa gave her another try at it and Nanae got mad, then Tsukasa and Rina suplexed Nanae together. Tsukasa's team does like a triple butt smash in the corner on Rina. Rina and Hoshi do lariats at the same time and Hoshi goes down. Tsukushi gets in and hurricanrana's bher from the 2nd rope. she hits some nice forearms and Hoshi bashes her in the head with her stomach. Ibuki and Tsukushi do lariats to Hoshi then Tsukushi does a hurricanrana spike to her. Hoshi attacks Tsukushi with her gut.
Nanae clobbers Tsukushi with a forearm twice then Tsukushi does a forearm flurry to her. Nanae hits a big lariat on her and then ends up nailing Hoshi with one too. Tsukushi sits on Nane for a pin then double stomps her between attempts. Nanae suplexes her from the top for 2 and Tsukasa ends up doing an enzugiri to Nanae. Ibuki does a nice crossbody to her for another 2. Ibuki tries to trade chops with Nanae and gets a flying kick. Nanae then does a bomb to her for 2.
Tsukasa and Nanae double team Ibuki but Ibuki comes back with a spinning fireman's carry and a lariat. Tsukasa gets a nearfall on her and chest kicks her multiple times. Tsukasa's team all does steamroller's on Ibuki but can't put her away. Hoshi has Ibuki on her shoulders and Tsukasa dropkicks her into a samoan drop for another close 2. Ibuki hits a backcracker with some help from her partners and gets a top rope crossbody for 2. Almost everyone gets in and Tsukasa dropkicks Ibuki in the chest at the bottom rope and does a blockbuster from the top for 2. Tsukasa then wins it with a spinning Ocean Cyclone Suplex.
Aside from the partners attacking each other, this was actually a really good match. The pace was fast and they didn't do too much despite having a lot of nearfalls. Had the partners not attacked each other, I would have given this an even higher rating.
FantastICE Title Death Match - Risa Sera (c) vs. Akane Fujita
We have a bunch of plunder out there for this one. We have a board with microphones, a rubber plate with thumbtacks and concrete blocks. Fujita also has a thumbtack bat, that is likely not a wooden or aluminum bat. Risa brings a giant Japanese fan made of light tubes.
Akane grabs her bat to start and Risa makes an unusual choice of not grabbing something too. Akane loses the bat and they both try to throw each other into the microphone board. Akane then hits her in the head with a microphone from it. Akane puts a cement block on Risa's back, then she breakes it with another block. She then puts her in a camel clutch does a bad job of rubbing her head with the block.
They both fight over a bat and Akane tries to block a shot with it, but the bat is made of tacks and it hurts her hand. Akane gets busted open as Risa pushes the bat into her head. Risa bullies Fujita and drops double knees on her chest in the bottom rope. Risa tries to Vader bomb her with knees but gets nothing but cement blocks. Fujita then comes off the top with a cement block and Risa block it with her own cement block as pieces of block fly. Akane puts a block on Risa's back then smashes another block on it. Risa doesn't sell for too long though and drops her on the blocks, then drops both knees on her.
Akane hits Risa in the head with the bat and loses control as it flies somewhere. Then she slams her on the tack plate. Akane puts the plate with tacks on Risa's stomach then splashes her. They trade forearms and Akane pounds on the back of Risa's head with them. Risa doesn't sell it much though and death valley drivers her. Risa then cradle shock's Akane onto the microphone board. Akane headbutts Risa then samoan drops her for 2.
Akane gets a bucket of legos and drops it over cement blocks. then she does a falcon arrow to her on them for a close 2 count. Akane puts the block on Risa's stomach, but Risa hulks up. Risa then hits her in the head with the baseball bat and pounds the tack plate into her head. Risa then hits a schwein from the apron to the floor. Man, this one is wild.
They get back in quickly and Risa busts the light tube fan over Akane's head. She sets up a board of microphones bridged on cement blocks and schwein's her for 2. Sera puts the board on Akane with some cement blocks then double knee dives it from the top to win the match.
The selling wasn't the best here but they seriously went all out for this and did some totally wild stuff. This was one one of the best deathmatches of the year and was pretty brual for an Ice Ribbon match.
International Ribbon Tag Team Title Match - Frank Sisters (Hiragi Kurumi & Mochi Miyagi) (c) vs. Rebel X Enemy (Maika Ozaki & Maya Yukihi)
Maya gets double teamed to start and runs the Sisters into each other. Maya lights up Mochi with shots and Ozaki comes in and misses an elbow drop. Ozaki gets bullied around a little and tries multiple forearms, but it only takes one to drop her. Mochi shoulders her into the corner but Maya comes to assist. They lariat/knee combo Mochi and drop her. Maya and Mochi trade forearms for kicks then they slap each other. Maya gets flurried on with forearms to the back of the head.
Maya's team tries to whip the opponents into the ropes but Maya and her partner get forearms instead. Maya then nails Hiragi with a knee on the ropes. Maya takes a sitout dominator for 2. She doesn't sell much and comes back with high kicks, but gets dropped on her head with a german. She no sells it and enzugiri's Hiragi. Hiragi then hits a short arm clothesline on Maya.
Ozaki and Mochi trade some nice chest forearms and bach each other at the same time with them. Mochi double axe handles Ozaki. Maya trips Mochi and Ozaki sentons her. Everyone gets in ruining the flow and Mochi hits a big lariat on Ozaki. Mochi goes for a vader bomb and gets torture racked, but Hiragi breaks it up. Ozaki does a senton from the 2nd rope and misses then Mochi does a banzai drop to her, then Vader bombs her for 2.
Mochi hits more double axe handles. Ozaki lifts her up with Maya's helpt then they do a knee to the head + fireman's carry slam. Mochi belly to back suplexes Ozaki on her head and hits a Styles Clash. Ozaki hits an alabama slam, but it wasn't sold and then she gets Thesz pressed twice for 2. Mochi tries it again and gets a lariat and a grounded lariat. Ozaki lariats her from the top for 2 then sentons her from the top for the win.
This was a good match but the lack of any selling hurt this. There was just no selling or even attempts at selling at all in the end when it was most important and it devalued an otherwise pretty good effort.
ICExInfinity Title - Suzu Suzuki (C) vs Saori Anou
Anou declines a handshake. Anou and Suzu both cartwheel out of wristlocks and Suzu getds a face kick. Suzu charges at Anou in the corner and she holds up her foot and she thinks again about it. Suzu then does the same to her. Anou wraps her legs around Suzu's head for an armlock and Suzu crawls to the ropes. Suzu limbo's on a forearm then comes back with a spear.
Anou gets sat on the middle rope then Suzu dives under the bottom rope and german suplexes her, then throws her into the post. Suzu gets thrown into the rails then perfect plexed on the floor. She gets back in and gets missile dropkciked and flips over for it. Anou limbos under another Suzu shot but then gets pulled down by her hair and put in an arm and leg hold. Suzu then gets under her puts on a painful looking crossface.
They fight on the apron and Anou gets her head banged off of it then gets a sliding dropkick from Suzu on it. Suzu missile dropkicks her again for 2. Suzu boot slaps her and Anou comes back with a slap. They have a slap battle and Anou gets slapped many times before she is release german suplexed. She then comes back with one of her own. Neither one of these girls sell these and do another round of them.
They trade some nice forearms on their knees and Suzu drops her after a flurry of them. Suzu goes up top and gets hurricanrana'd down then perfectplexed for 2. Suzu does like a DDT where you roll backwards then puts Suzu in a stranglehold. Then she german suplexes Suzu for 2. She then dragon suplexes Suzu for a close nearfall. Suzu does a nice roll into a pin for another 2 and limbo's out of an enzugiri. Anou no sells a german then does a backslide into a forward bridge for 2. Suzu hits an enzugiri then does a half-nelson drop. Suzu hits a standing spanish fly and gets another close 2. Suzu then wins it with a german.
This was a pretty good match. I didn't like the no-selling of the german suplexes, especially since the finish was a german. I also thought the selling was lacking here. They never really stopped here though and there weren't any real dullpoints.
Overall thoughts: A really good show with 5 of the 6 matches delivering and 4 of the 6 really being pretty strong. The deathmatch is definitely one to check out here if you won't see anything else. As usual, Ice Ribbon delivers big on Korakuen shows.
