WCW Wrestle War 1989 5/7/1989 - Ricky Steamboat vs Ric Flair

5/7/1989 - WCW Wrestle War 1989 Music City Showdown - Ricky Steamboat vs Ric Flair

I did a podcast on this match here:

Pat O'Connor, Lou Thesz and Terry Funk are the judges here.

Ric Flair beat Ricky Steamboat with a cradle at 31:31. Great match as expected. They were really good at the little things, they were stiff, the match was very technically sound, it made sense and the selling was great. This is one of their very best and they did a great job with it. My only real complaint would be that they probably could and should have gone longer. 31 minutes was just not enough for these two. I would have liked to have seen Ricky reverse the Figure Four or even use one against Flair with eventually Steamboat being worked over too much. Flair could have maybe put it on again, Ricky could have done a comeback and then Flair could have cradled him just like he did in this to take it. Another idea would have been for Ricky to try and do the Figure Four and have Flair reverse it into a cradle. Either would have added to the finish and would have changed its abrupt nature. This is still very good though and a classic, but  just think, this wasn't even their best match. Rating:****3/4

    1. It just depends on time and how much I want to watch wrestling. Some times I want to watch a lot, sometimes I don't.
