WWWF All Star Wrestling 11/12/1977

Vince McMahon welcomes us to the show and runs down the card.

"High Chief" Peter Maivia and "Chief" Jay Strongbow vs Jose Estrada and Johnny Rodz

Rodz and PM go at it. Rodz tries to run away but is followed by PM and Jay. The faces then do a victory celebration after Rodz gives up on the escape. PM is backed up into the corner. Rodz punches and eye rakes him. Jose gets some shots in as well. Jose knees him in the gut and clubs on him. Rodz top rope clubs PM.

Rodz to prope stomps PM and Jose chokes PM. PM fireman's carry takeovers him. Jay gets in and hits shots on Jose. Jay is then double teamed in the corner. Jay's is pushed in the gut and he fires up. Jay kneelifts Rodz then boots him in the gut. Jose is thrown into Rodz in the corner. The heels argue and PM slaps Rodz in the butt.

Rodz calls for a timeout. Jose gets in and is hit by both faces. Jay side headlocks Rodz. Jay's throat is pulled down over the top. Jay is then double teamed on the ropes. Rodz punches Jay in the gut.

PM comes in and chops Rodz down. PM eye rakes Rodz and punches him. Jose gets back in and PM dances. PM euros Rodz down twice. Jay sleepers Jose and Jose is out. The faces win.

Thoughts: It was a bit unstructured here and not super interesting. There wasn't much but various punches and chops and it was hard for anyone to really get momentum. You'd blink and the other team would suddenly have control. I didn't like this.

Joe is totally out after the match. The ref wants the faces to wake him up. Rodz is almost put in a sleeper but he escapes. PM wakes Jose with a neck twist.

Ivan Putski vs Joe Turco

Ivan takes the mic during intros to yell, "Polish Power".

Ivan grabs Joe by the beard. Joe swings at him and nearly nails the ref Dick Woerhle. Joe clubs on Ivan and Ivan no sells it. Joe begs off and swings at the ref. Ivan side headlocks Joe and punches him as Joe reaches for the hair.

Joe complains to the ref and shoves him. Joe gets some shots in. Ivan punches him off a side headlock. Ivan drops him with another punch and chinlocks him. Joe complains and is clubbed in the face. Joe shoves Ivan and complains to the ref more.

Ivan bearhugs him and Joe immediately taps out.

Thoughts
: Joe really had to work overtime here as Ivan wasn't doing much and was doing it slow. Joe begged off, argued with the ref and cheated a bit before going down. He really got a lot out of absolutely nothing here but the match still wasn't that interesting.

Vince McMahon interviews Peter Mavia and Jay Strongbow. Jay says they want the tag titles from Fuji and Tanaka. Jay says he wore the titles before and thinks they can hold the titles. Peter says they've been successful around the country and the titles are the only things they have in mind. He says they can go against the champs and take the titles away.

Jay is asked what Fuji and Tanaka have that they don't. Jay says, "the belts". He says he doesn't think he can compete power wise and wouldn't try. He says Peter can though. He says their styles are hard to get accustomed to and it's working so far. Peter says they are in their best condition. He says they are ready for any kind of action, bruddah. Jay says they care about each other more than Fuji and Tanaka do. He says their manager Blassie is only concerned about money. He says they just want to win the match and title.

Vince asks Peter how they feel on versatility. He says he doesn't know what that is. He says they are good scientific wrestlers. Jay says their record shows they have got it together. He says they think and feel the same way.

"Butcher" Paul Vachon vs Steve King

PV has Lou Albano with him. PV hits him in the gut and chest. PV bites his face and chokes him over the ropes. PV snapmares him then stomps his face. PV side headlock takeovers him for 2. King hits shots and dropkicks him.

PV bangs King's head off the buckles. PV chinlocks him around the top rope. King hits some punches. PV trips him and goes for the pin. King's head is banged off the mat then PV boots him over. King hits shots to the gut and pulls his beard.

PV hits a big boot and splashes him for the win.

Thoughts:
It was all squash here with King not getting much in but a few chops. PV didn't do much but chokes on the ropes, chinlocks and some shots.

Stan Stasiak vs Larry Zbyszko

Stan has The Grand Wizard with him. Stan clubs on him early and punches him in the forehead. LZ hits punches and clubs on his shoulder. Stan shoulders him over then LZ takes him down with a hammerlock. Stan runs the ropes and is brought down with another hammerlock.

Stan shoulders him over, is monkeyflipped then LZ hammerlock takedowns him again. Stan shoulders him over and LZ hits an impressive slam. LZ hammerlock takedowns him again.

Stan knee's him in the leg then stomps on him. LZ stops a heart punch and hammerlocks him. Stan backs off. Stan knees him in the gut and punches him in the face. Stan then throws him out to the floor. Stan punches him down off the apron.

LZ pulls him out and hits some nice punches outside. Stan tries to run and his head is banged off the table. LZ then hits a huge punch flurry on him. They fight over a chair and it goes into Stan's head as the bell rings.

Thoughts: It was a shorter one that went to a double countout finish. They didn't do a ton but Larry was a good fiery face here. Stan moved well and had some nice facials.

They get back in and push the ref away. They brawl and Stan runs off.

Mr. Fuji and Professor Toru Tanaka vs Dewey Roberston and Johnny Rivera

Fuji and Toru have Freddie Blassie with them.

Toru backs up DR on the ropes. DR full nelsons him and Toru throws him over. DR headscissors him. Toru trips him while in the armlock Toru pulls the hair then Fuji chokes DR in the corner. DR punches Toru then holds him for shots from JR. JR flipping sentons Toru.

Toru grabs JR by the throat. Fuji hits JR in the back then knees him in the face. Fuji slams him then stomps him. JR's head is banged off the buckles. Toru does a trapezius hold on JR. Fuji chokes JR from the apron then hiptosses him twice. JR hits some shots and tags out.

DR gets in and hits Fuji in the gut. He hits some shots on Toru in the corner. DR then does the abdominal stretch on Fuji which Toru breaks up. Toru flying clotheslines JR and pins him.

Thoughts:
It was a squash and not that interesting. Dewey got to go somewhat even with the heels but Rivera did not. The heels did mostly chokes here.

Overall thoughts: We had 4 squashes here, an interview and one star vs star match. The star vs star match wasn't bad but naturally didn't have a clean finish. The squashes weren't that good here with them doing the bare basics. I wouldn't recommend this one as it was a bit boring.
