Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/11/wwf-superstars-of-wrestling-8151992.html
Note - I did a mix of Event Center's here as the first one was missing from the original broadcast, but the other ones on it were there. I prefer the localized Event Centers as they give you a better idea of what was really going on at the time.
Mean Gene interviews The Ultimate Warrior on the stage to start in an unusual opening for this show. Gene says Warrior was nose to nose with Macho last time he saw them and didn't think we'd have to wait for Summerslam for them to fight. Warrior says him and Macho have been much closer than nose to nose many times. He says they have both seen the inside of each other's minds. He says let's not be impatient as only desperate men act with impatience.
Mr. Perfect tells Vince to keep watching and see what happens. Ric Flair then comes out. Warrior notices him. Gene tells Ric he will have his chance to talk later on. Warrior lets Ric get on the stage. Ric says he's not out here to confront him. He's here to make him aware of some things. Ric says he will be champ come Summerslam. He says he will be there at the show to make sure he gets the first shot at the winner. He also says Macho Man was on the phone with Mr. Perfect to get Perfect to manage him at Summerslam.
Warrior says, "say what?". Ric says Macho was trying to cut a deal with Mr. Perfect to be his manager at Summerslam. Ric says with Perfect in Macho's corner, victory is a lock. Ric says it's not a done deal though and says Warrior can get in on the bidding. He says he can get the check book out and says it's just a case of how bad Warrior wants Perfect's help. Ric says to be the man and face the man for the title, you gotta win at Summerslam.
Mean Gene says he's shocked and says Macho would have the advantage with Perfect in his corner. Warrior says Macho maybe is acting out of desperation. Warrior says Macho said he would do anything to retain the title. Warrior says he will do anything and pay any price to win the WWF Title.
Thoughts: I thought this was a weird segment. Realistically, why does either guy want Mr. Perfect's help? He's clearly not on their side and wants Ric to be champ, not them. I'd be skeptical if I'm Warrior or Macho and Perfect asked to be in my corner for Summerslam. It's not like either guy had a friendly history with Perfect either ala Wrestlemania 41 with Punk and Roman both wanting Paul Heyman to be with them. It also doesn't help that Macho just beat Ric for the title, so Perfect's help isn't that valuable. I think if I had to redo this angle, I'd have Perfect and Flair have a fake fight and a break-up on TV. Perfect could then come to Macho and Warrior, beg for mercy and see if they would take him since he's out of a job. Then you could have him come down at Summerslam, help his man win, then have him immediately turn on that guy after. Perfect and Flair then could do a big beat down on the winner of it and Perfect could say he acted as a spy to learn all their secrets to help Ric beat that person. That would be the only way to explain it in 1992 since they didn't do three-ways or MITB cash-in's at the time (then you could have Perfect lobby for Ric to be added to the match and factor him in like that).
Mr. Perfect and Vince McMahon then welcome us to the show. Vince asks if there's any truth to what Ric said. Perfect says it is true and said he negotiated with Macho. Perfect says the negotiation book is still open and says Warrior needs to open up the wallet if he wants to come out a winner at Summerslam.
Razor Ramon vs Paul Van Dale
This is Razor Ramon's Superstars debut. Razor doesn't really get a big reaction here. Paul kind of has a Paul Roma type of look to him. Razor picks him up by the throat and throws him down. Razor chops Paul in the corner. Paul fights back and runs into Razor's boot.
Razor hits a big choke slam. Razor paintbrush slaps Paul and boots him in the head. Razo hits a 2nd rope backdrop. Razor then hits the razor's edge and picks up the win.
Thoughts: Razor's finisher was nice here and Perfect said he had never seen that before. It was a bit of a slower debut and Razor could have used another high impact move here.
Paul is thrown out after.
Vince and Perfect talk about the IC Title match at Summerslam. Perfect says if Hart or Bulldog took the other out, it would cause problems. He says there will be a separation of family.
We hear Stu and Helen Hart talk. Helen says Bret has been wonderful and Davey has been good to their daughter. Helen says it's a house divided and she doesn't know what to do.
The Natural Disasters (Earthquake & Typhoon) vs. Brian Brieger & Brian Donahue
BB and Quake go at it. Quake clubs him then rams him into the corner. Quake hits a belly to belly suplex then elbow drops him. The Beverly Brothers do an inset promo with The Genius. Blake says they are taking the belts at Summerslam. Beau says at least The ND's can say they were charges.
Quake stomps on BB. Ty bangs BB's head off the buckles. Ty hits a corner lariat. Ty butt drops BB's neck on the middle rope then kicks him in the chest. Ty corner splashes BB then Quake apslehs them both in the corner. Quake then splashes all 3 in the corner. Quake powerslams BB then butt drops him. Ty then hits a splash and wins.
Thoughts: It was the usual ND Squash with them splashing their opponents and using their weight on them. The jobbers stood no chance as expected.
WWF Event Center
Sean Mooney talks Summerslam.
Kamala, Kim Chee and Harvey Wippleman do a promo. Harvey says Summerslam will be the greatest day of his life as he sees Taker fall. He said Paul Bearer signed Taker's life away and says it'll be it.
The British Bulldog does a promo. He says Summerslam is getting closer and closer. He says there's a big feud in the family and the family doesn't know which side to take. Bulldog says whether he wins or loses, the families will get back together whether Bret likes it or not.
Kamala vs. Russ Greenberg
Harvey Wippleman does intros for Kamala as usual. They call Russ "Ross" here.
Kam hits chops to the head and body and slaps his belly. Kam shoulders him over. Kam does a nice leapfrog and a superkick. Kam says that could be The Warrior or Macho taking that. Kam lifts up Russ by the throat and throws him down. Kam chops and stomps Russ then drops him throat first on the ropes.
Kam hits more chops on Russ then bangs his face off the mat. Kam hits a big chop and a headbutt. Kam chokes Russ then throws him down by the throat. Kam chokes him on the ropes. Kam double throat thrusts him and splashes his back. Kam tries to pin him on his back but then rolls him over and pins him while holding the foot.
Thoughts: It was a fun squash here with Kam being a wild man and beating the crap out of Russ.
Kam goes up top after but the ref and Kim Chee stop him.
WWF Event Center
Sean Mooney hypes up the 8/22/1992 Boston Garden show. The main will have Duggan as the special ref in a Flair vs Macho Title match. Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect do a promo. Ric says Ultimate Warrior has all the muscles but needs to have the brains to make the right move and says the right move is Mr. Perfect. He says that means thumbs down for Macho. Perfect says if Duggan doesn't call it down the middle, he will be in as much trouble as Savage.
Macho Man does a promo. He says there's mind games played by different people here. Macho tells Duggan to call it down the middle. He says Ric Flair thinks a lot of himself but isn't as good as he thinks he is. He says he will realize that when Duggan counts 1-2-3. He says Duggan can count 4-5-6 as he won't get up soon. He tells Ric to bring a change of clothes as he will be there for a while after he drops the elbow on him 92 times.
Thoughts: Well this was unusual. On one hand, we are being told Macho is negotiating with Perfect and on the other, we have him threatening Perfect and Ric for the upcoming house show. It makes no sense, but not a lot does during this time period in the WWF does.
The British Bulldog vs "Iron" Mike Sharpe
They lock up. Mike side headlocks him. They criss-cross as Vince shills ICOPRO. Davey leapfrogs him then reverse monkey flips him. Davey armdrags him and Mike rolls out.
They wristlock each other and Mike rakes the eyes. Mike bangs Davey's head off the buckles and hits a big chop. Davey slams him then suplexes him for 2. Davey headlocks him. Mike hits shots in the corner then chokes Davey on the ropes.
Mike hits a big shot to the gut then hits corner spears. Mike misses a corner charge then Davey powerslams Mike. Davey then picks up the pin.
Thoughts: WOW, a somewhat even match. That was nice to see here. Mike looked good in this one and the announcers did point that out. He did some nice bumping and just did a solid job of making the basics look like they counted.
Summerslam Report
Mean Gene shills Summerslam. He walks about Perfect negotiating with Macho to be in his corner at Summerslam. Bret Hart does a promo. He says his family is falling apart and everyone is picking sides. He said it took him a long time to get to the top and said it took Davey a long time as well. He says they both have to do what they have to do and Bulldog will lose.
The Undertaker and Paul Bearer do a promo. Paul says he has spoken to his British undertaker friends and said they would give Kamala's crew the caskets they will go out in. Taker says Kamala is a man of simple intelligence and said he let his advisors bring him to the hands of the reaper.
Shawn Michaels and Sensational Sherri do a promo. Shawn says there are 80,000+ anticipating a match between two of the finest WWF wrestlers. He says he will give Rick Martel the wrestling lesson of a lifetime and says there will be no doubt who the sexiest man in the WWF is.
Crush vs The Repo Man was also set earlier in one of the versions of this show for Summerslam. The Repo Man says Crush is nervous and should be. He says he repossesses careers. He says Crush won't get a hold of him.
We get an ad for WBF Body Stars.
The Berzerker vs Jason Knight
This is ECW's Jason. We are told Perfect's team won the tug of war at the WBF event and Vince says Perfect cheated.
Berz boots Jason over then chops him. Berz asks if Fuji likes what he did. Fuji says he wants more. Berz chops him again. Tatanka does an inset promo. He says if Mr. Fuji tries to interfere, the spirits will let him know and he will get him. He says he will scalp Berz with a chop.
Berz boots Jason and ties him up in the ropes for a face kick. Berz slams him then throws him over the top to the floor. Berz then wins by countout.
Thoughts: It was the usual Berzker squash here with him winning by countout. He hit facekicks, chops and not much else.
WWF Event Center
Sean Mooney shills the 8/22/92 Boston Garden show.
The Beverly Brothers and The Genius do a promo. We are told there's a 6-man with them and The LOD and Ellering. Genius says everyone is excited but he's not worried as The Bev's assured him no one touches him. Blake says The LOD were born in a gutter and hung out with street people, but they born successful. Blake says The LOD said they were spoiled but they are privileged. Beau says The LOD are mistaken if they think they can find success in their coat tails. Beau says they don't carry trash and says they are the biggest sissies in the WWF.
Paul Ellering talks to Rocco. He says he can't wait to get his hands on The Genius as he will knock him senseless. Rocco says The Bev's are good eggs as there are a yellow in them. Ellering says that's a good analysis.
Thoughts: This was an interesting segment as we finally got to find out what The Bev's are supposed to be. I had read online that The Bev's were supposed to be spoiled rich kids but we never really heard them talk about it. Here, we finally did. Paul Ellering making jokes with Rocco was stupid but thankfully The LOD weren't around for this segment.
Vince and Perfect then talk about next week's show. The Big Boss Man will return and face Skinner. We will also get a special interview with Macho Man.
Overall thoughts: The show started off different with an interview segment. I didn't think it made much sense though. Razor Ramon made his in-ring Superstars debut. Kamala had a good squash and we got a weird Event Center with Macho having to work with two different situations at once against Perfect and Flair. Sharpe/Davey was actually competitive and both looked solid. We then finally got some insight as to what The Beverly Brothers character is through the Event Center. If you are going to watch this, you would want to see the Boston feed over the main feed. I guess it wasn't a bad edition of Superstars as we had some different things going on, but I still wouldn't say it was great.
