New Japan Pro Wrestling 11/23/2024 World Tag League 2024 Day 4

Daiki Nagai vs Masatora Yasuda

They do some mat wrestling. Nagai headscissors him. Yasuda wristlocks him then side headlocks him. Nagai shoulders him over. Nagai hiptosses him for 2. Nagai crabs him then slams him. Yasuda armdrag him into an armbar.

Nagai yanks on the arm and stomps him. Yasuda kimura's him. Yasuda stomps on him. They trade forearms. Nagai twisting crossbodies him. Nagai corner dropkicks him. Nagai hits a big slam. Nagai crabs him and the time limit runs out.

Thoughts: We've seen this and versions of this several times now. The work is fine but 10 minutes is a bit long for what these guys are allowed to do and with the circumstances they are presented with.

They go head to head after and Yasuda pushes him.

Shota Umino, Tiger Mask & Tomoaki Honma vs. Bishamon (Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI) & Shoma Kato

Shota and Goto lock up. Shota side headlocks him then Goto side headlocks him. They shoulder battle and Shota knocks him over. Shota takes a double houlder then Yoshi is hiptossed onto Shota. Kato shoulders Honma over. Tiger then gets clubbed on by his opponents.

Kato forearms Shota down then flying back elbows him. Kato hits forearms then Shota basement dropkicks him. Tiger stomps on Kato then legbars him. Honma back elbows him the nheadbutt drops him. Kato goes up and over Honma then flying forearms him.

Yoshi hits a weak headhunter on Honma. Honma is laid on the top rope and Yoshi dropkicks him as he hangs. They trade forearms. Honma's team counters a double team and Shota tornado ddt's Goto. Honma flying headbutts Yoshi.

Kato corner forearms Tiger then hiptosses him for 2. Kato rolls up Tiger. Tiger spin kicks him in the gut then double underhook suplexes him for 2. Tiger headkicks Kato and submits him for the chickenwing.

Thoughts: Kato didn't do a good job here. His tap out at the end wasn't very convincing and he hit a bad hiptoss here. Shoma didn't have a bad showing here. The match didn't get a ton of time as usual and ended after everyone got their segment in. Bishamon vs Shota and Honma is on the next show and should be good.

TMDK (Kosei Fujita, Ryohei Oiwa & Zack Sabre Jr.) vs. Ryusuke Taguchi, Alex Zayne & Katsuya Murashima

KM = Katsuya Murashima, RT = Ryusuke Taguchi

Kosei and KM go at it. KM chops him on the ropes and they shoulder battle. KM dropkicks him. KM hits forearms then is chopped over. KM takes a chop and a kick to the chest. Oiwa slams KM and puts his leg in various holds. Oiwa ties his legs up and KM ropebreaks.

Zack indian deathlocks KM with a bridge and KM breaks on a grounded octopus. KM chops Zack then is shouldered over. KM hits a dropkick. Alex gets in and enzugiri's Zack.  Alex hiptosses him and hits a standing moonsault.

Alex back elbows him and misses a flipping legdrop. Alex flipping legdrops Zack. Zack kicks Alex off of a baja blast attempt. RT and Oiwa get in. Oiwa atomic drops him then falling splashes him. RT tries a hip attack but is atomic dropped twice. RT rolls into a hip attack.

KM comes in and forearms Oiwa. Oiwa clubs on him. KM flying forearms him. KM slams Oiwa for 2. KM stomps on Oiwa then Oiwa lariats him out of the corner. Kosei flying kicks Alex then takes a hip attack from RT. RT hip attacks Zack out.

Oiwa takes corner attacks and then is sent into RT's butt. KM rolls up Oiwa for 2. KM sunset flips Oiwa for 2. Oiwa sleepers KM at 10 minutes then spinning lariats him for the win.

Thoughts: It was alright. They teased KM might get the upset on Oiwa here a couple of times which helped things out. It was just a quick midcard match without too much of note. 

BULLET CLUB (Chase Owens, KENTA & Taiji Ishimori) vs. United Empire (Callum Newman, Jakob Austin Young & Jeff Cobb)

CN = Callum Newman, TI = Taiji Ishimori

CN and Chase go at it. Chase side headlocks him. Jake hammerlocks him. CN does kip ups and kip downs while in the wristlock. Chase chokes him. CN tries to run the ropes but gets his neck stuck in them. Jake tags in. Jake hits forearms on Chase.

Chase takes shots from Jake and Cobb then takes a double shoulder. CN hits forearms on Chase then is kicked on the apron by Kenta. Kenta slaps CN from the outside. TI comes in and rakes CN's face.

Kenta neckbreakers him. Kenta spin kicks CN and chest kicks him down. CN kips up and enzugiri's him. Chase Owens joined commentary here during the match and heads back in. TI gets on Cobb's shoulders. Cobb splashes Kenta with him on his back and rams TI into Kenta.

Cobb flying shoulders Kenta then standing moonsaults him. Kenta suplexes Cobb. Chase neckbreakers Cobb for 2. Cobb back body drops Chase. Jake leg lariats Chase. Jake 2nd rope dropkicks Chase for 2. Chase takes a sequence from his opponents for 2.

Jake takes snake eyes then Chase half-nelson slams him. Chase knees Jake in the face and hits him with a package piledriver for the win.

Thoughts: It wasn't that interesting. I didn't like Chase screwing around on commentary while his team was in the match. I'm really not much of a fan of Young so far. I just haven't seen anything great out of him.

Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, Shingo Takagi & Yota Tsuji) vs. BULLET CLUB War Dogs (Gabe Kidd, Gedo & SANADA)

LIJ gets hit before it starts. Yota is sent into the rails and Sanada rakes Shingo's face. Shingo shoulders over Gabe and gets his eyes raked again. Sanada takes a double shoulderblock. Sanada eye rakes Bushi then is pulled over the top. Gedo pulls Bushi out. Everyone fights outside and Yota is sent into the seats. Bushi is hit with a chair by Gedo and Yota is as well.

Gabe chops Shingo down outside hen chases a kid around. They get back in and Sanada bangs Bushi's head off the buckles. Gedo eye rakes Bushi then Gabe bites Bushi. Bushi flying headscissors Gabe. Yota hits Gabe in the gut then armdrags him. Yota corner splashes Gabe then does a regular splash for 2. Gabe takes corner attacks. Sanada dropkicks Yota then Yota takes a double suplex for 2.

Shingo armdrags Sanada. He then ddt's him. Gabe and Shingo slap each other and Gabe spinning lariats him. Gabe and Yota trade forearms. Yota superkicks Gabe then pumping knees him. Gabe spinning lariats Yota. Gedo eye rakes Bushi. Bushi kicks him while on the ropes then gets crotched on the top rope. Bushi rewind kicks Gedo. Gedo takes a triple basement dropkick for 2. Bushi 2nd rope dropkicks Gedo in the knee then does a figure four variation on him. Gedo taps out.

Thoughts: I liked the Yota vs Gabe section here. They spent a bunch of time brawling outside and there should have DQ's for the chair shots but there wasn't. It was a shorter one with not so much in-ring action.

Shingo and Yota stare down with Gabe after. Gabe gets in Yota's face.

World Tag League 2024 Block B Match - The Natural Classics (Stevie Filip & Tome Filip) vs. TMDK (Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste)

Tome and Shane go at it. Shane side headlock takeovers him. Tome wristlocks him. Shane kips out, snapmares him and dropkicks him in the back of the neck. Tome takes a double shoulder and has his legs split. Mikey chops Tome in the corner then cranks his head.

Shane takes corner attacks, a german and a brainbuster from Tome for 2. Shane is sent into the rails outside. Stevie kicks Shane in the back. Tome stomps on Shane then foot chokes him. Tome facekicks Shane and Stevie handspring moonsaults Shane for 2. Stevie pulls Shane's arms back. Shane leg lariats Stevie. Mikey corner lariats Stevie then short arm lariats him. Mikey ddt's Stevie then sliding lariats him for 2.

Stevie final cuts Mikey. Mikey hits forearms and chops on Tome. Mikey is put on the 2nd rope and Tome double stomps him down. Mikey spinebusters Tome and tags out. Shane hits euros on Tome then hits a nice dropkick. Shane reverse slams Tome.

Stevie standing ssp's Shane then Mikey death valley drivers him. Tome spinebusters Mikey and Shane euros Tome. Everyone hits some moves then Tome figure fours Shane. Mikey lariats Tome to break it up then is lariated over the top. 

Shane and Tome trade forearms on their knees then get up and trade. Tome germans him. Shane takes a drop + pump kick for 2. The bros are sent into each other. Tome takes a Shane falcon arrow for 2. Stevie takes a uranage + powerbomb combo then Tome does as well. Tome is then pinned.

Thoughts: It looked generic and average on paper and it was. I'm just not seeing much out of The Filip Brothers and they are not impressing much so far. It wasn't awful but this should have been better for the amount of time it got.

World Tag League 2024 Block B Match - House Of Torture (EVIL & Ren Narita) vs. Just 4 Guys (Taichi & TAKA Michinoku)

Togo jumps Taka and Tai before this even starts. Taka is sent into the rails. The faces get sent into the seats. Evil foot chokes Taka then stomps on his leg. Tai tries to bring a weapon in and of course the ref stops him from doing that.

Ren yanks on Taka's arm and Evil chokes Taka with a shirt. Tai knocks the ref over and is knocked out of the ring. Ren rakes Taka's face on the ropes. Evil throws Taka out. Togo sends Taka into the rails and apron. Evil foot chokes Taka.

Taka step up knees Evil. Taka pump kicks Ren from the side. Tai is tagged in. He hits Kawada kicks then corner facekicks Evil. Tai enzugiri's Evil in the shoulder then boots Ren over. 

Evil eye rakes Tai then superkicks him. Evil corner lariats Tai then Tai side kicks him. Evil sends Tai into Taka then Tai is sent into the exposed buckle. Ren running facekicks Tai for 2. Ren hits forearms on Tai. Tai spin kicks him and Ren chokes him. Tai running lariats Ren.

Taka facelocks Ren and Ren ropebreaks. Ren rolling armbars Taka. Taka facekicks Ren over then dropkicks Togo through the ropes. Ren hits Taka with a push-up board and Tai hits both opponents with his mic stand. Taka sunset flips Ren for 2. Taka rolls up Ren then pumping knees him off a missed facebuster. Taka faelocks Ren and Evil breaks it up.

Tai stretch plums Evil and Taka facelocks Ren. Ren seems to tap out but Dick Togo rings the bell and the match is not over. The ref gets knocked out, Togo comes in and the heels use weapons on the faces. Taka is hit with the push-up bar. Dick hits Taka in the crotch with a push up bar and Ren facebusters Taka for the win.

Tai is mad after and tries to go after the heels with a chair.  Togo ends up choking Tai with a weapon and Evil mocks Tai with his own microphone.

Thoughts: The ref work was horrible here. This one was all House of Torture nonsense and not much more. The faced looked like total idiots here as usual. I didn't like this at all though they did fool me with the fake bell ringing.

World Tag League 2024 Block B Match - Hiroshi Tanahashi & Jado vs. United Empire (Great-O-Khan & HENARE)

Jado and Khan compete for cheers before this starts. Tana and Khan start us off. Khan and Tana then compete for cheers. Khan takes down Tana. They trade side headlocks. Khan euros Tana then Tana 2nd rope twisting crossbodies him.

Khan takes a double shoulder then Henare takes a double back elbow. Khan and Henare are thrown out then Jado nd Tana do air guitars. Jado and Tana get beaten up outside.

Khan ties up Jado's legs. Henare hits gut punches on Jado then Jado hits shots back. Henare chops him over then sentons him. Khan hits double chops on Jado then sits on his neck in the corner. Khan sleepers Jado. Khan hits forearms and Jado hulks up. Jado chops Khan then shoulders him over. 

Tana is tagged in and he flying forearms Khan. Tana dropkicks Khan in the knee then dragon screws him. Tana dragon screws Henare over the middle rope then slams Khan. Tana 2nd rope swantons Khan for 2.

Khan rolls Tana up into a pin attempt then Khan double legs him into a pin attempt. Khan suplexes Tana for 2. Khan shoulder throws Tana. Henare misses a senton on Tana then punches him in the face. Tana hits a twist and shout. 

Henare takes offense from his opponents and is lariated over by Jado for 2. Henare hits leg kicks on Jado. Jado pulls him over the top. Jado bridging ddt's Henare for 2. Henare punches Jado in the gut and goes for the full-nelson.

Tana hit a slingblade on Khan. Tana and Jado hit stereo crossfaces. Jado and Henare lariat battle. Henare step up knees him then full-nelsons him. Khan puts a sheep killer on Tana at the same time. Henare taps out Jado.

Thoughts: I didn't like this at all. Henare selling for Jado looked ridiculuous and just buried him. This also went longer than it needed to.

World Tag League 2024 Block B Match - Oleg Boltin & Toru Yano vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (Hiromu Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito)

HT = Hiromu Takahashi

Oleg and Naito go at it. Naito ducks him and hits Yano in the back of the head. HT then tags in. Oleg shoulders his opponents over. Yano swings a turnbuckle pad at HT. The ref grabs the turnbuckle pad and Yano knocks him over.

HT sends Oleg into the rails outside, grabs the turnbuckle pad and nails Yano with it. Naito hits Yano with the turnbuckle pad. Yano is clotheslines with the turnbuckle pad. They talk about Hiromu locking up Yano in an elevator once. Naito hits Yano with the turnbuckle pad off the ropes. The ref refuses to count Naito's pin and HT tries to count his own pin.

Naito camel clutches Yano. Yano takes a double team and a double basement dropkick. Yano and HT pull each others hair. Yano then pulls him down by the hair.

Oleg gets in and shoulders over HT. Oleg goes for karelin's lift but Naito breaks it up. Oleg runs through a double clothesline. HT lifts Naito for a hurricanrana on Oleg but Oleg blocks it. Oleg catches HT's crossbody and karelin's lifts him. 

Oleg slams HT then splashes him for 2. Oleg slams and vader bombs HT. HT crucifixes Oleg. HT head kicks him then flying crossbodies him. Yano belly to belly suplexes HT. HT is then catapulted into a belly to belly suplex from Oleg.

Yano and Naito fight. Naito hits a diamond dust. Yano does some takedowns on Naito for nearfalls. Naito atomic drops him and step up enzugiri's him. HT superkicks Yano then HT helps Naito tornado ddt Yano. Oleg hits a hard dropkick on Naito.

Oleg throws HT on Naito. Yano tries to roll up both but can't. Yano and Oleg dogpile on HT and Naito and pin them both to win.

Thoughts: It wasn't good at all and was one of the worst main events I've seen NJPW do. They fooled around early with turnbuckle pads. Naito looked really awful here, just struggling to do headscissors and tornado ddt's. Then they botched the finish to top it all off. 

Yano talks on the mic after then Oleg closes the show on the mic.

Overall thoughts: This wasn't good. The B Block of this World Tag League is filled with bad teams and it's producing total crap as expected. The main was one of the worst NJPW main's in some time and the best tag league match tonight was average at the best. The undercard was actually better than the tag league matches. I do not recommend this one at all and would give it a 3 out of 10.
