AEW Collision 11/2/2024

AEW Collision 11/2/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/10/aew-collision-10262024.html

We open the show up with all the wrestlers on the stage or in the ring. Private Party is welcomed out by Tony Schiavone. PP gets a, "You Deserve It" chant. Zay said they said, "new year, new champs" at the beginning of the year and then says they did it. Quen says they want to say thank you to The Bucks for making them earn this.

Zay says they are willing to defend the titles against anyone and everybody and say it means everybody. The Infantry, who haven't been on this show in months look interested. They hold the tag titles up in front of FTR. Dax shoves Zay and Garcia breaks it up. Truth Magnum says we are here to celebrate the 5 year journey of Private Party.

Turbo says what's in the past is in the past. Turbo says it's Private Party's time now. He says the sign outside says AEW: Where the best tag teams wrestle, not Private Party, The Outrunners or FTR. Zay says the party won't end and says there's no party like a private party and says that's a flex.

We see Mariah May and Anna Jay walking in. Anna says she can, has and will beat May.

Renee interviews The Acclaimed. Renee says they are the most winningest team in AEW history. Bowens congratulates Private Party but says they are coming for the tag titles. Max says they won't stop just because it's not The Bucks. He says when The Acclaimed and Private Party lock-up, there's only one outcome that can happen. Max says Private Party are still on the come up and says they don't have friendship bracelets and money coming out of them like he does. He says they also don't have MVP begging them to join like they do. Max says he doesn't know about joining them or not. Max had cut off Bowens earlier then Bowens cuts Max off at the end as they tease dissension.

Day of the Dead Match - Thunder Rosa vs Harley Cameron

HC is wearing pink cat facepaint. We have a skull with candles and a board with a cat on it. Rosa comes out with two people in facepaint holding candles a woman who is kind of dressed like her. Rosa has a picture of Harley and is wearing skeleton paint. Rosa puts HC's photo near candles like a dead relative.

They shove each other. HC hits knees and a step up enzugiri. Rosa gets behind her and throws her. Rosa armdrags her and enzugiri's her. Rosa dropkicks her through the ropes. Rosa hits her with fake tombstone and a trash can lid.

Rosa holds onto a fan and HC and walks the rail. HC crotches her on it then bangs her head off the floor. Rosa is thrown into the steps. HC is thrown through a board. We go to PiP break and return.

They hit lariats on the ropes on each other. Rosa chest forearms her then they facebuster each other down at the same time. HC codebreakers her. Rosa bridges the skull on the two chairs and HC hits her with a pinata.HC suplexes her through the bridged skull for 2.

HC bangs Rosa's head off the chairs. HC running kees a chair when Rosa moves. Rosa chairs HC. Rosa then puts a trash can on HC's head and kicks it. Rosa runs up a table and dropkicks the can on HC's head. Rosa then pins her to win.

Thoughts: It was a fun little hardcore match. It was nothing ground breaking or anything but it was something different and it worked fine enough.

Lexy interviews Roderick Strong, Taven and Bennett. Strong says Shane Taylor is just an obstacle on the road to MJF. Strong says Taven and Bennett got a big win on Rampage last week and says Cole got a big win on Dynamite.

Brian Cage and Lance Archer come in. Cage says they've been leaving bodies laying. Lance says if they get in their way, everybody dies.

Kyle Fletcher vs Komander

Oh wow, I wonder who is going to win this one. Kyle has black short trunks with gold/red on them and long black boots now. He throws his jacket in Kom's face and hits him. Kyle throws him on a slam. Kyle hits another slam and kicks him while he's in tree of woe.

Kom is caught on a crossbody and crucifixes Kyle off of it. Kom flying headscissors Kyle then dropkicks him. Kom hits chops on Kyle. Kom walks up the buckles, does rope tricks and is pushed off into the rails outside. Kom takes a powerbomb on the apron edge.

We go to PiP break, full break and return. Kom hits a 2nd rope shiranui. Kyle forearm topes Kom outside then boots Alex in the face outside. Kom walks up the ropes and does a blind moonsault on Kyle. Kom hits kicks then standing spanish flies him for 2.

Kom moonsaults in Kyle's double boots. Kyle hits a sitout last ride for 2. Kyle's face bleeds some. Kom hurircanrana's him for 2. Kyle blocks a poisonrana but they roll with it and Kom poisonrana's Kyle on the floor. Kyle drops him on the apron. Kom walks up the buckles and hits a moonsault. Kyle flips Kom with a lariat. Kyle running boots him in the corner. Kom double springboard canadian destroyers him. Kom rope walks and corkscrew dives Kyle outside. Kom is crotched up top and Kyle brainbusters him. Kyle brainbusters him on top buckle and wins.

Thoughts:
This was horrible. It was the worst of both guys. They didn't sell squat and they did way too much. And who thought it was a good idea to have Kyle go even with Komander when Kyle is a guy they are trying to push and Kom is a perennial jobber? This was one of the worst booked matches of the year and that's saying something for AEW. And Kyle got bloodied up too by Komander to make him look even worse.
Mark Davis comes out after. They get in each others faces but nothing ends up happening.

Jack Perry does a promo. He says things are changing these days. Daniel Garcia interrupts. He says he wanted to grab him by the throat and put him up against the wall again. He says that's not the best way to communicate to him. He says Jack has been handed everything he has had his entire life while Garcia worked for it. Jack says he has already fought for everything because he loved it. he says it turned his back on him. He says Garcia still thinks there's good and bad but says he's afraid to be the person he has to be. He says he's afraid to sacrifice everything he loves and that is why he's not ready.

Lance Archer and Brian Cage vs Shaun Smith and Joe Keys

It's such a shame with Joe. If he were 5 inches taller he'd be so much further ahead Cage takes control early and hits a release german on Joe. Lance running back elbows Joe in the corner. Lance lariats him then hits a black hole slam on Smith. smith takes a deadlift superplex in from Cage. Lance chokeslams Keys. Smith takes a powerbomb + chokeslam combo. cAge pins Smith.

Thoughts: It was a squash as expected here with the big guys beating the crap out of their opponents.

Lance hits a blackout on Joe after and Cage hits a drill claw on Smith. Undisputed Kingdom then save the jobbers in a surprise.

We see Kyle O'Reilly watching this in the back.

AR Fox is interviewed by Lexy. Nick Wayne, Mother Wayne and Kip Sabian interrupt. Nick says he's finally seeing him after a year. Nick says a lot has changed since then and says he was taught to never forgot who wronged him. Nick says he's changed. He says he's going to face Hook next week. AR says he doesn't care about that and challenges him to Collision next week.

Kris Statlander does a promo. She says her coming for Mone's TBS Title should be no big deal. She says Mone shields herself and hides in a private dressing room. She says she's afraid because she knows she's the target. Kris says to be prepared to show her worth. She says she walked in to Full Gear as TBS champ last year and walks out as champ this year.

Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir come out. Mox does a promo in the seating area. He says OC wants to be the king and he's got the right idea but it's not that simple. Mox says the game already began and says the question is if he can even make it to Full Gear with his body and mind intact. He puts over Yuta as honest and hardworking. He says he loves yuta and would do anything for him. He says Yuta understands sacrifice and putting your ego aside for the goal and objective. He says Yuta is a Philadelphia hero.

Action Andretti comes out. He says Yuta is not a hometown hero and not what Philly represents. He says Yuta looks like he came straight out of amish town with a horse and buggy. He says if you want to talk about people coming out of Philly, you can talk about him. AA says they aren't about talking here but action. He says he came to throw hands with any single one of them here. Pac then nails AA from behind.

Pac vs Action Andretti

Pac pump kicks AA then throws him hard into the buckles. Pac foot chokes him. AA is thrown out. We go to PiP break and return. Pac suplexes him. Pac running euros him in the corner and side headlocks him. AA handspring back elbows him.

AA is popped up and dropkicks Pac. AA tope con hilos him. AA hits corner punches on Pac then enzugiri's him. AA springboard kicks him. AA falcon arrows him for 2. Yuta tries to get in and Shafir hits AA on a springboard attempt.

Pac pump kicks him. Pac hits a superplex and puts him in the brutalizer. Pac then submits him.

Thoughts
: It was a match. I don't have too many thoughts on it. It wasn't exactly as high flying as you would hope for with these two and wasn't anything too great.

Pac keeps the hold on after. Orange Cassidy appears in the crowd. He says "go birds" and says he loves Philly. He talks about Yuta sleeping on his couch and says Chuck Taylor was his roommate. He says that person in the ring is not Yuta. He says the old Yuta would not do what they did to Chuck. OC says Mox is just using Yuta and doesn't care about him. OC says he needs to show everyone Mox is not the man he says he is. He says in 2 weeks he will bring back the old Wheeler Yuta, the old AEW and beats Mox to be the next world champ.

Mox slaps Yuta and tells him to go get OC. Yuta goes after him with a chair. OC gives Yuta the chance to hit him with the chair. Yuta does and Mox is wondering what's up. OC then orange punches Yuta. OC goes up the stairs and leaves.

Thoughts: Top Flight is here yet refused to help out their guy for unknown reasons.

Malakai Black does a video talking about Adam Cole. He says he's been sitting still for so long that he's becoming a shadow. He says him and Cole are becoming relics. He says he wants Cole to bury the noises in his head and says he will show him.

Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita are interviewed. Kyle says everyone wants to talk about the past but he wants to talk about the future. He says the future looks like AEW gold. He says him and Takeshita beat Private Party months ago and says they should jump back in the tag division. Takeshita says he will end Ricochet on Wednesday and tells Ric to bring anyone he wants.

Lio Rush vs Ari Daivari

Ari throws a shirt at him and stomps on him in the corner. Ari slams him. Lio springboards off the ropes and headscissors him. Lio hits punches in the corner and the ref pulls him off. Ari lariats Lio.

Lio rolls him up then Ari reverse ddt's him for 2. They trade punches. Lio hits some forearms then lariats him over. Lio falcon arrows him for 2. Ari goes out, Lio tries to tope him but topes Woods instead. Lio then topes Mark Sterling for yelling at him. Lio tigeer feints into a 619 on Ari outside.

Ari ddt's him. Lio hits a seated springboard stunner then hits a top rope splash to win.

Thoughts: Lio won as expected here. It was on the shorter end of things and was just average.

MxM Collection and Johnny TV are interviewed by Lexy. JTV says fashion saves more lives than doctors. He says MxM have "it". MxM thank him. JTV says to slide into his DM's if they want to collab and then he gets pulled away somehow.

Roderick Strong vs Shane Taylor

The Infantry are with Shane Taylor Promotions now which is a new development that was not explained on TV.

Shane backs up Strong on the lock up and hits him in the gut. Shane hits punches and puts his foot on Strong. We see MJF watching from his plce. Strong hits forearms, gets distracted by Bravo maybe then is dropped with a punch.

Shane chops Strong. Strong dropkicks him through the ropes and pounds on him outside. Strong takes a bridged stunner.

We go to PiP break and then full break. Shane misses a legdrop on the apron. Strong basseball slides Shane off the apron. Strong hits Shane off the apron. Strong hits flying forearms then flying lariats him for 1. Strong flying kicks Shane then olympic slams him for 2.

Strong misses a flying knee and is knocked down with a punch. Shane uranages him and splashes him for 2. Shane hits a big punch. Strong jumping knees him. The ref botches the pin count and Strong gets the win.

Thoughts: Strong was a face here and I think it took a while to catch onto that. It was okay with Shane looking good as usual but it could have been better. Shane got dropped hard on the olympic slam he took.

They announce a Full Gear 4-Way Contenders Series for tag title shots. There will be 3 matches with the winners of each moving onto a 4-way at Full Gear against Private Party.

We get a Mina Shirakawa video. She says she's coming.

AEW Women's Title - Mariah May (c) vs Anna Jay

May backs her up in the corner then they slap each other. Anna headlock takeovers her. Anna hits knees to the gut and flipping neckbreakers her. May hits forearms on the back of Anna's neck. May ties Anna up in the ropes and dropkicks her in the back. We go to PiP break and return.

Anna hits forearms and sends May hard into the buckles. Anna flying forearms her then basement dropkicks her. They try pins on each other. Anna flatliners her then backcrackers her.

Anna spinning heel kicks her in the corner and May does a hanging sleeper in the corner. May 2nd rope dropkicks her. May backdrops her hard on her neck. May running knees her for 2. Anna neckbreakers May over the 2nd rope.

Anna blocks a handstand headscissors in the corner then blockbusters May for 2. Anna grounded sleepers her. May rolls back and tries to pin her off of it. May stun guns her then rolls her up with a bridge to win.

Thoughts: It wasn't anything special. It got lots of hype but neither of these two are great workers and this wasn't going be that good. It didn't get a ton of time and they really didn't go all out here. This was really disappointing and had a weak finish.

May offers Anna a hand after but then pulls her hand away and mocks her outside.

Overall thoughts: I didn't like this episode. We had the usual random matches. May and Anna disappointed and did nothing special in the spotlight here. Fletcher/Komander was one of AEW's worst booked matches this year with Kom kicking Kyle's butt and busting his open while both no sold. Strong and The Undisputed Kingdom are now faces but they didn't tell anyone and Top Flight watched Action Andretti get beaten up and did absolutely nothing about it. Rosa/Harley and Shane/Strong were the only decent things on this one and I wouldn't recommend it. I give this one a 3 out of 10.
