Hajime Ohara vs. Junta Miyawaki
They do some amateur wrestling and stand off. Ohara goes for an armbar and reverses a wristlock. Junta armdrags him then hits a dropkick. Junta slingshot elbow drops him then Ohara slams him. Ohara elbow drops his back for 2.
Junta misses a dropkick then Ohara single leg crabs him. Ohara grabs his arm as well and Junta ropebreaks. Junta dropkicks him then hits a corner dropkick. Junta top rope dropkicks him for 2. Ohara tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him for 2. Junta grabs the arm and ddt's him for another 2.
Junta falcon arrows him for 2 then Ohara hits a big knee to the side of the head. Ohara backbreakers him off the fireman's carry then Ohara submits him by pulling on Junta's legs with Junta's chest down.
It wasn't that good. It was completely by the numbers with few highlights or stand out moments.
Alejandro, HAYATA & Ninja Mack vs. GLG (Jack Morris, Jake Lee & LJ Cleary)
Mack's team wants no part of Jake Lee. Ale wants a test of strength with Lee, Lee throws him off and none of Ale's partners want to tag in. Ale is shouldered over by Jake and looks for a tag again. Mack and LJ go at it.
Mack tries to trip LJ and LJ hops his way to the ropes. LJ then tries to trip Mack. Mack distracts him and backflips out of it. Mack shoulders LJ over and out. LJ avoids a dive then both tag out.
Haya and Jack lock up. Jack poses and is booted for it then Jack back elbows him. Haya double springboard dropkicks Jack. Jack counters a double clothesline attempt and gorilla presses Ale onto Haya. Jack suplexes Haya for 2. Jake slams Haya for 2 then Haya suplexes LJ.
Mack hits shots on LJ then LJ hits kicks. Mack jumping knees him then is superkicked. Mack corkscrew kicks LJ. Ale and Mack do double cartwheel back elbows on LJ then LJ takes a 2nd rope hurricanrana for 2. Ale escapes a triple team then Mack hits top rope double axe handles on both opponents at the same itme. Jack face kicks Mack outside.
Ale flying knees LJ inside and sunset flips him. Jack flying knees Ale then flips him on his chest for 2. LJ ushigoroshi's him for the win.
It was a short one with them wasting some time here. Mack didn't even really do a dive here which should tell you how much effort was put into this. It was a waste of all of these guys.
Victory Challenge Tag League 2024 Match - Daiki Inaba & Masa Kitamiya vs. Alpha Wolf & Dragon Bane
Stuff like this is why tag leagues are fun. This is an unusual combination of guys that we probably wouldn't see otherwise.
Wolf and Inaba shoulder battle. Wolf flying shoulders him then hits a big shot. Inaba shoulders him over. Inaba armdrags him out of the casadora and takes an upkick. Bane and Masa get in. They trade chest chops and Bane flying headscissors him. Bane goes for the dive but is back elbowed. Bane takes a double back elbow then an elbow drop and senton.
Inaba slams Bane then Inaba hits forearms to the back. Masa double chops Bane then slams him. Masa chops Bane down in the corner. Bane walks up the buckles, flips over him then kips down and up into a back kick. Bane uses Wolf to hit a springboard headscissors on Masa.
Wolf superkicks Masa then Masa hits a big lariat on him. Masa drops Wolf on his knees then Wolf headbutts him. Masa samoan drops him. Wolf takes a nice bump on a flying shoulder from Inaba then Inaba corner clotheslines Wolf. Inaba suplexes Wolf.
Inaba headbutts Wolf then Wolf flying dropkicks Inaba. Wolf asai moonsaults Inaba. Bane springboard back elbows Inaba then handspring back elbows him. Inaba flips him with a lariat for 2.
The four trade forearms in the ring. The Japanese take stereo superkicks and Bane is popped up into a double dropkick on them. Wolf flips Bane into a tope con hilo outside on their opponents. Wolf corner tope con hilos on his opponents outside.
Inaba blue thunders Bane and Wolf. Inaba hits forearms on Bane then Bane hits a made in Japan style move for 2. Bane superkicks Inaba then top rope SSP's him to win it.
It ended at about the right time. We didn't get much of Masa here but Inaba had a good showing and the luchadores couldn't overdo it here so it worked better than some of their other matches.
Victory Challenge Tag League 2024 Match - Manabu Soya & Shuji Kondo vs. Kenoh & Yu Owada
Yu and Soya start us off. Soya shoulders him over then Yu armlocks him. Soya hammerlocks him and Yu ropebreaks. Kondo asks for Ken to come in. Ken leg kicks him then Kondo takes him down. Kondo headlock takeovers him, Ken headscissors him and they stand off.
Yu wristlocks Soya then armlocks him. Soya armdrags him and is armdragged back. Yu armlocks him and Kondo breaks it. Yuu hits forearms on Soya then is chopped down. Yu is thrown out then Kondo slams him on the floor. Soya knee drops Yu. Yu tries a double dropkick on his opponets but is shouldered over.
Yu hits shots on Soya and Soya blocks his slam. Soya slams him for 2. Yu dropkicks Soya then 2nd rope dropkicks him. Ken face kicks Soya then hits kicks to the chest. Ken chest kicks him then hits kicks on both opponents. Yu hits flying corner forearms on both opponents then Soya slams Yu. Kondo does a lanzarse spear on Yu for 2. Yu dropkicks Kondo out of the corner then dropkicks Soya.
Yu finally slams Soya after multiple attempts then top rope crossbodies Kondo for 2. Yu hits forearms on Kondo then Kondo corner lariats him. Yu rolls up Kondo after a Ken kick for 2. Ken pele kicks Kondo and Yu backslides Kondo for 2. Yu runs at Kondo and is lariated for 2. Yu takes a double lariat and is pinned.
Most of this was dull with simple offense. The end of this one picked up as Yu was allowed to kick out of stuff before he got put down.
Stinger (Daga & Yoshinari Ogawa) & Super Crazy vs. GLG (Anthony Greene, Tadasuke & YO-HEY)
Tada shoves over Daga then throws his headband at him. Yo tope con hilos on Crazy and Daga as they argue outside. Daga hits punches on Haya then is atomic dropped. Yo basement Daga while he's held there. Ogawa bangs Tada's head off the door then he bangs Ogawa's head off the post. Tada and Daga fight outside and Daga eye rakes him.
Ogawa stomps Yo then rips his shirt off. Crazy boots Yo in the corner then Daga chokes Yo with a shirt. Yo is teamed up on and thrown out. Ogawa throws Yo into the post shoulder first then Ogawa single leg crabs Yo.
Daga hits shots on Yo then Crazy camel clutches Yo. Yo double dropkicks Ogawa and Crazy. AG gets in and his opponents all go out. Crazy takes a seat in the front row then hits AG while he is distracted. Crazy's head is banged off the buckles then AG does his ropewalk twisting top rope crossbody.
Crazy misses his corkscrew elbow then him and AG lariat each other down. Haya lariats Daga for 2. Haya cradle shocks him for 2 then pounds on Ogawa in the corner. Daga lariats Haya then hits him with a title belt right in front of the ref. The ref then DQ's Daga. Daga throws the ref out after.
It was not that bad with Yo getting beaten up on, but they messed with the hot tag segment and had a bad finish here. It didn't look good on paper, but I took the risk of watching it, and it wasn't good.
The two teams fight outside after and Haya's head is banged off a chair. Haya gets busted open then Daga poses on him.
Victory Challenge Tag League 2024 Match - Kaito Kiyomiya & Ryohei Oiwa vs. REAL (Saxon Huxley & Timothy Thatcher)
Kaito's team is nailed and thrown out before this starts. All 4 fight outside and then Oiwa and Kaito are whipped into face kicks. TT hits euros on Kaito then Kaito gets his legs split. Sax clubs on Kaito then Sax takes a double armdrag > double hiptoss. TT gets a double dropkick too.
Kaito hits forearms on Sax then Oiwa hits forearms on Sax. Sax takes corner attacks then Sax back body drops both opponents. Sax slams Kaito then side slams Oiwa. Sax takes a flying back elbow from Oiwa then Kaito dropkicks Sax.
Kaito 2nd rope dropkicks Sax then top rope dropkicks him. Kaito hits corner punches on Sax then Sax throws him down backwards. TT guillotine chokes Kaito and Kaito back body drops him over the top. TT makes a hard thud on the floor when he lands. Kaito slams TT on the floor and Oiwa sends Sax into the post. Oiwa and Kaito hit dives off the apron.
Kaito slams TT and Oiwa splashes TT. Oiwa figure fours TT then germans him for 2. Kaito dropkicks Sax then Sax takes a double suplex. Oiwa puts TT in a texas cloverleaf variation. Oiwa goes for Sax then TT puts him in a fujiwara armbar to win.
I didn't really think the ending fit the match here. They were definitely building to a win for the faces then it just ended. Oiwa and Kaito were okay here as the underdog face team but TT and Sax didn't bring much to the table.
Victory Challenge Tag League 2024 Match - Takashi Sugiura & Ulka Sasaki vs. Atsushi Kotoge & Go Shiozaki
AK face kicks Sugi several times then takes one back. Sugi throws him out and is face kicked off the apron. Sugi is sent into the post and spin kicked. AK and Sugi trade shots then AK hits forearms. Ulka and Go fight.
Go side headlocks him and shoulders him over. Ulka boots him several times and Go hits chops. Ulka takes a double back elbow for 2. Ulka flying kicks AK and throws him out. Sugi forearms AK on the floor and bangs his head off the merch table. AK is slammed on the floor.
Sugi sends Go into the post then Sugi and AK grab each other by the hair. Sugi spin kicks him and foot chokes him. Sugi suplexes him for 2 then facelocks him. Ulka knees AK in the gut then crucifixes him for 2.
Sugi bullies AK then AK flying kicks him. Go flying shoulders Sugi then hits chops. Sugi fights back with forearms and takes more chops. Go fisherman busters him for 2 and backdrops him for 2. Go's nose is busted open and they trade chops for forearms. Sugi knees Go in the gut then Sugi face kicks him. Sugi running knees him then 2nd rope delayed suplexes him.
Sugi crabs him and AK breaks it up with forearms. AK hits dropkicks on Ulka then running facekicks him. AK suplexes Ulka then top rope dropkicks him. Ulka rolling armbars him then Go comes in and hits lariats. AK hits an air raid crash on Ulka for 2 and Ulka blocks AK's moonsault with his knees.
AK hits kicks on Ulka then Ulka knees him in the gut. Ulka jackhammers AK for 2. Ulka flying triangles AK and taps him out.
It was a mix of different styles here. I was surprised to see Ulka win since he had been jobbing to Shuhei Taniguchi not too long ago. I liked the Go vs Sugiura sections here and those mostly made this one worthwhile.
Overall thoughts: I liked the main the Inaba tag but not much else. I don't recommend this one.
