Big Japan Pro Wrestling 1/4/2024 Deathmatch King Death

Kazuki Hashimoto and Yuya Aoki vs Daichi Hashimoto and Takuya Nomura

Nomura and KH go at it. Nomura headlock takeovers him and is put in a headscissors. DH and KH go at it. DH is backed up into the corner and tags out. Yuya armdrags DH then DH yanks his arm. Nomura kicks Yuya in the back and Yuya tells him to do it again. Nomura face kicks him and hits a nice dropkick.

Nomura slaps Yuya then Yuya face kicks him. Yuya hits chest slaps on Nomura then Nomura suplexes him. DH face kicks Yuya and hits kicks on him. DH flying knees him in the corner for 2.

Yuya rolls him up for 2 then legsweeps him. KH is tagged in and running knees DH in the corner. KH kicks DH in the back for 2. DH is put in an ankle lock while Nomura is put in a cobra twist. Nomura chest kicks and slaps Yuya then Yuya exploders him. KH ankle locks DH.

DH dragon screws KH then STF's him. DH then wins it at 7:07.

It was a short but okay opener. Yuya and Nomura put out a good show as always here with some hard slaps and face kicks.

Daisuke Sekimoto & Kazumasa Yoshida vs. Abdullah Kobayashi & Drake Younger

The ref pats down Abby. I don't know why. It's BJW. He's not getting DQ'd. Sek and Drake start us off. Sek wristlocks him and Drake rolls through it, putting his own wristlock on. Drake trips him into a side headlock then Sek upkicks him.

Abby and Sek get low and Seki rides his back. Rek rolls him into a pin attempt and Abby rolls out. Abby then goes out and says "wrestling". Abby and Yoshida go at it. Yoshida hits chops then pulls Abby's shirt off. Yoshida then chops him. Sek chop flurries Abby.

Yoshida belly slaps Abby then Sek chop flurries AEW. Sek chop flurries Drake while he's in the corner with Abby. Abby ddt's Sek then Drake hits punches and stomps on Sek. Drake headbutts Sek and is caught on a crossbody attempt. Sek then swinging side slams him off of it.

Yoshida back elbows Drake then hits a nice dropkick. Drake cradle shocks Yoshida for 2 then Abby lariats Drake. Drake and Abby pull their pants down and hit shining wizards in their trunks. Yoshida takes a double elbow drop for 2. Abby abdominal stretches Sek and Drake vertebreakers Yoshida to win it at 6:58.

It was a short match that was mostly comedy. Yoshida had one of his better showings here with a nice dropkick and some personality.

Abby and Drake pose on the ramp after. Abby says this is strong style after. He says this is deathmatch and this is wrestling. Drake says they will fight in any circumstance, whether it's strong style, deathmatch or flying. Drake says him and Abby are coming for the tag titles in 2024.  They then show their love wristbands off.

Jack Bennett & Kankuro Hoshino vs. Yankee Two Kenju (Isami Kodaka & Yuko Miyamoto)

Yuko's team is jumped as soon as this starts. Yuko is sent into the table and the ladder in the corner and the leadder nearly falls down on Jack. Hoshino and Yuko fight for a ladder and Yuko swings it at his head several times.

Isami russian leg sweeps Hoshino on a table then does it on a ladder as well. Isami then russian legsweeps him on chairs. Yuko dropkicks Hoshino out then then does Naito's pose for some reason. Hoshino gets mad at this and hits him for it.

Hoshino punch flurries Yuko then Yuko chop flurries him. Yuko is up top and is thrown down. Isami and Hoshino go at it then Hoshino STO's him. Hoshino and Jack then do a "too sweet". Jack hidden blades Isami then running knees him. Jack goes for the one winged angel then Hoshino lariats Jack on accident. Yuko tombstones Hoshino.

Yuko grabs a bat and does a rainmaker pose then ripcords him into a baseball bat leg shot. Isami does Mutoh's pose then shining wizards Jack to win it at 6:59.

This was all comedy like the last match. I don't know what the deal was with the guys all doing wrestler impersonations here. Hoshino was funny as usual though. 

Hoshino says they lost today but won yesterday to Jack. Hoshino said his Kenny Omega impersonation was good. Jack said he hasn't won yet since coming to Japan. He says he's waiting for it and says ganbatte.

Barbed Wire Board Death Match - Green Phantom & Satu Jinn vs. Masaya Takahashi & Yuichi Taniguchi

The Japanese attack as soon as they get in. Jinn is thrown out and they brawl outside. YT chokes Green then MT bangs Jinn's head off the post. Jinn bangs Masaya's head off the apron.

Masaya is thrown into the barbed wire board in the corner then Jinn samoan drops him. Green half-nelson drivers Masaya for 2. Jinn chokes Masaya on the ropes and Masaya's head is banged off of Green's foot. Green says he has a big green boot for his face. Masaya takes a double back elbow then a double suplex.

Jinn misses a splash on Masaya. Masaya dropkicks a barbed wire board into him. Green is double flapjacked onto the barbed wire. YT hits chops and throat thrusts on Jinn. YT walks the top rope with Jinn's arm then YT throws him off the top. Jinn then splashes YT.

Green elbow drops YT for 2 then Jinn shoulders Masaya over hard. Green spinning ddt's YT then splashes him. Green then hits blackout on him onto a barbed wire board to win it.

It was a short one here. Not that bad for what it was but they only had 7:38 to work with. I was surprised to see Taniguchi take the blackout bump into the barbed wire.

Green and Jinn do a promo after. They said they aren't here for a long time, but a good time. And a good time is smashing Japanese people in the face. Jinn thanks Japan for letting them run through their best talents. 

Fuminori Abe, Kota Sekifuda, Yasufumi Nakanoue & Zeke Andino vs. PROJECT HAVOC (Ender Kara, Leyton Buzzard, So Daimonji & Tempesta)

LB and Kota go at it, trading wristlocks. LB fireman's carry takeovers him and they stand off. LB pops up Kota and he slips on the landing, taking a buttbreaker. Kota shakes his hand then boots and eye rakes him. LB hits a nice dropkick.

Temp and YN go at it. They shoulder battle. YN slips and falls then knocks Temp over. Temp running euros YN then YN backdrops him. Temp double lariats YN and another opponent. Temp and So then hit stereo corner lariats and bang their opponents backs together. Kara and LB then join in and we get 4 stereo fallaway slams.

So flying lariats Abe then Abe spin kicks him and back kicks him. Abe slaps him then So spinning lariats him. Kara and Zeke trade forearms. Kara hits kicks then a shotei. Zeke spinning forearms him then falcon arrows him for 2. Kota tornillo dives outside. Kara rebound germans Zeke then corkscrew kicks him.

Zeke takes corner attacks from all opponents then takes a double suplex. LB running ssp's him then Kara PK's him for 2. Zeke springboards and gets caught in an octopus. So's team puts their opponents all in submissions at once and gets the tap out win at 9:05. 

They had 8 people here and 9 whole minutes for them. It was short and rushed but they did make it entertaining.

LB and Abe slap each other after but shake hands. So gets on the mic after and thanks LB and Temp, since this was going to be their last BJW match for a while (as of March 2024, they haven't returned). Temp unmasks after and he thanks the fans. LB tells the fans he loves them and thanks them. 

Zeke said Project Havoc was too good tonight and they will get them after.

Project Havoc did a promo after. So says Havoc is a worldwide unit. Kara says it's not a farewell, it's a see you later. Kara tells Temp and Buzzard to take over the world. He says they will stay on top all day and everyday. Temp talks in German. Buzzard said the last 4 months have been the best months of his life. He said it may be the last time you see us together for a while but it's the beginning of Project Havoc. He says they are here to take over and says it's just see you later. They then say, "We are Project Havoc".

Fluorescent Lighttubes Death Match - AKIRA & Crazy Lovers (Masashi Takeda & Takumi Tsukamoto) vs. Daiju Wakamatsu, Kazumi Kikuta & Ryuji Ito

They fight at the bell and most of them go out. Kikuta headscissors Akira and Akira headstands out of it. Akira headlock takeovers him then ankle locks him. Akira northern lights suplexes him then sliding lariats a tube into him. Kikuta flying kicks Akira then stabs him with a tube.

Daiju breaks a tube on Akira's head then stabs him with the fragments of it. Daiju legdrops him for 2. Kikuta kicks tubes into Akira's back. Ito chairs a stack of chairs onto Akira then foot chokes him.

Ito hits Akira with tubes. Ito puts tubes in Akira's mouth and Akira spits them at him. Akira then running knees him. Kikuta throws Ito after then slams him. Akira corkscrew elbow drops Ito for 2.

Ito and Kikuta ram tubes into each other then trade forearms. Kikuta forearms a tube into him. Ito axe kicks tubes into Kikuta's head. Daiju and Takeda go at it. Takeda shotgun dropkicks tubes into him then Takeda does it to him.

Takeda and Daiju headbutt each other then Daiju spinning heel kicks tubes into Takeda. Daiju underhook suplexes Takeda. Takeda pops tubes into Daiju's face then uranages tubes on him. Akira hits Daiju with tubes then forearms him. Daiju slams him then flipping sentons him for 2.

Kikuta corner lariats and corner dropkicks Akira. Daiju top rope dropkicks Akira then Akira takes a buzzsaw kick from Kikuta for 2. Akira double stomps Kikurta's back. Akira back enzugiri's Kikuta then does a driver on him for 2. Akira top rope sentons tubes into Kikuta and wins it.

It was another short match that went 11:16. It was a total spring here with them going full speed the whole time. Not a lot of selling here and we didn't even see how some of these guys got bloody.

Akira does a promo after. He said he's been undefeated this tour and Pondo won a title. He said now he gets to fight The Crazy Lovers. Akira said he'd fight or team with Takeda anytime or anywhere and they pound middle fingers. 

Fluorescent Lighttubes Death Match - Necro Butcher vs. Hideyoshi Kamitani

Kami takes him down and they do some amateur wrestling for a bit. Kami front face locks him. Necro slaps him then Kami rushes at him with forearms. Necro gets busted open then hits mongolian chops. They trade chest chops and go outside.

Kami hits him with tubes and Necro headbutts him. Necro slams him on the floor. They fight in the seats and Necro takes Kami outside. Necro's head is banged off a door and he gets lariated and choked on the bleachers. Necro is then suplexed on the floor.

Kami puts him in the stretch plum then slams him. Necro chairs Kami and botches some tope rope move, making Kami roll down. Necro neckbreakers him then hitsa piledriver. Necro camel clutches him.

Necro hits corner lariats on Kami then is sent into the buckles. Kami hits a nice lariat. Kami comes off the top and gets double knees. Kami hits a nice lariat for the win at 16:18.

I thought it went longer than it needed to and just wasn't great. There were some signs of promise here but it was slower and they spent too long on the amateur wrestling to start things.

Kami says something and goes to leave, then Necro tells him to get back in. They shake hands. Necro interrupts Kami's promo after. He says he's the past and Kami is the future.

BJW Death Match Heavyweight Title Lighttube Death Match - Madman Pondo (c) vs. Yuki Ishikawa

Violent J of the ICP is out there with Pondo. Pondo swings a saw on a stick at Yuki and Yuki dropkicks him. Pondo is thrown into the tubes on the ropes then Yuki breaks a tube over his head. Yuki stabs him with the tubes then Yuki's head is banged off the post. Pondo uses an axe to chop a tube into Yuki's back.

Pondo uses the saw stick on Yuki, running it up his back, butt and crotch. Pondo cuts him up with a razor/knife then figure fours him. Pondo hits him with tubes while keeping the hold on. Yuki makes a comeback and top rope dropkicks him.

Pondo short arm lariats Yuki then hits him with a stop sign. Pondo side slams him for 2 then spinning side slams him for 2. A set of tubes is bridged on chairs then Pondo is powerbombed on them for 2. Yuki throws a stack of tubes at Pondo then throws another. Yuki throws another stack of tubes at him then knees a stack of tubes into Pondo's face to win it.

It was all hardcore wrestling here with nothing else. I thought it was boring to be honest. That axe shot on the tubes didn't seem real safe no matter how it was done.

Pondo grabs the title after and gets on the mic. He said he and Violent J want to thank BJW fans. Pondo thanks Yuki after and gives him the belt. 

Pondo and Violent J do a promo after. Pondo thanks everyone and said they are still two wicked. J said the next time they come, expect more carnage.

Overall thoughts: They had a lot of matches and a lot of people to put on the show, but not a ton of time. Most of matches on the show didn't get enough time, though the short undercard matches weren't bad for what they were. They had some of the pieces for a good one in the semi-main, but it was longer and slower than it should have been. I didn't care for the main. A couple of the Project Havoc guys had their last matches in BJW here as well. I wouldn't recommend this one.
