AEW Rampage 3/20/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/03/aew-rampage-3152024.html

Bullet Club Gold are in Florida at a pool. The pool has a slide and they have a skeleton there that says "Darby on Everest". They say suns up, guns up. They said Jay saved a dude's life last week. They said they took the tag titles from The Acclaimed and should take the trios titles from them. they say they don't need Billy Gunn anymore.

Jay White says he painted Sting's bat gold and said he saved Darby's life. He said he won't be climbing Everest. Jay says he's bigger than Everest and Darby won't triumph him. We then see a skeleton go down the waterslide and they call it Darby.

The Acclaimed come out and Max isn't rapping. He said they should have known about Bullet Club Gold, saying The Club left them laying last week. Max said Billy's not clear to travel. They said they know Jay is scared and is a light heavyweight, fake, tough guy. Max says he's offering Jay a first class, one way ticket anywhere he wants to go as long as it's not here. He said Jay White is not smart and he knows that because only a stupid person would p!ss off The Acclaimed. They said they will be here to ruin his life and run him down.

Bowens is mad about Bullet Club not being here. He said Jay White knows his crew isn't Elite enough. He said Jay should have signed somewhere else like the internet said as he lost to MJF and in The Continental Classic. He said he needs to blame himself for his shortcomings and is a coward. He said he's counting down the days until they beat his @ss. Bowens and Max then give Bullet Club the finger.

AEW World Tag Title Tournament Wild Card - Best Friends (Orange Cassidy and Trent Beretta) vs The Don Callis Family (Powerhouse Hobbs and Kyle Fletcher)

Hobbs spinebusters OC to start then Trent is sent into the rails. OC topes Hobbs, gets caught and is world's strongest slammed on the apron. Hobbs splashes OC then misses a corner splash, going outside. Trent jumping double knee presses Kyle then lariats him over the top. Trent then top rope swantons the heels outside.

Trent germans Kyle. Kyle blocks his tornado ddt. Hobbs holds up Trent and Kyle helps flip Trent over into a slam. We go to PiP break and return. Trent tornado ddt's Kyle. Hobbs is pulled over the top then OC top rope crossbodies Kyle. OC topes Hobbs then ddt's Kyle for 2.

Hobbs puts OC in a torture rack. Hobbs takes a flying knee into a roll up. Hobbs body blocks OC. Kyle dragon suplexes Trent then kicks both opponents in the corner. Kyle takes a cutter into a half-nelson suplex. Hobbs double shoulders his opponents over then throws OC into the LED ringskirt board.

Hobbs takes a double stomp + beachbreak combo outside. Kyle topes Trent and superkicks OC. Kyle spinning tombstones OC for 2 and his mouth is really bleeding bad. Kyle takes a half-nelson suplex off the top then OC diving ddt's Kyle off the top. Trent spears Hobbs outside then OC orange punches Kyle and wins it.

They did too much here with moves off the top and on the floor but they did keep it action packed and there were a lot of highlights. I don't like the Don Callis Family losing, especially Kyle since he's an ROH champ currently.

Katsuyori Shibata vs Kevin Matthews

They trade forearms and KS forearm flurries him. KS corner dropkicks him then underhook suplexes him. KM lariats KS then KS gets his back for a sleeper. KS lets go, hits a PK and wins it.

It was just a quick squash but it hid Shibata's weaknesses well.

Adam Copeland, Best Friends, Top Flight, Matt Sydal and Daniel Garcia all celebrate Adam's win over Christian Cage in the back.

Konosuke Takeshita vs Rocky Romero

KT picks up RR and puts him on the top rope. RR uppercuts him then hits a flying hurricanrana. RR hits corner lariats then KT hits a pop-up F-5. KT hits a basement dropkick for 2.

We go to PiP break and return. RR topes KT twice. He gets caught on the third tope then KT forearms the post when RR moves. RR topes KT into the rails then hits a running shiranui for 2. RR rolling armbars him then Don Callis gets on the apron.

KT running face kicks him then RR hits some shots. KT catches his shiranui attempt and hits a package tombstone. He then blue thunders him for 2. RR jumping knees him then rewind kicks him. KT hits a big running lariat then spinning forearms him. KT then spinning falcon arrows him to win it.

I thought they could have ended it early but it kept going. It was entertaining though and they worked pretty well together. KT didn't dye hair brown and looked really different without it.

Street Fight - Skye Blue and Julia Hart vs Willow Nightingale and Kris Statlander

The heels are hit with chairs to start then get hit with kendo sticks. Willow chokes Skye with a kendo stick. Julia is tripped into a chair. Julia's hanging off the chair and Willow head kicks her. Julia then is laid on the chair and takes a backbreaker and a basement dropkick.

Willow is thrown into the rails. Julia hits Skye with a spike when Kris moves. Julia is thrown backwards into a table in the corner during PiP break. Skye gets hit with kendo sticks outside then Julia hits and chokes Kris with one.

Julia hits Willow with a chair then SKye hits Willow with a chair. Willow slams Skye on the floor. Willow and Skye stand on the commentary table then Willow takes a code red on the table. Julia's head is banged off the steps.

Tacks are poured in the ring by Kris and Skye. Skye superkicks Kris then powerbombs her on the tacks for 2. Skye puts tacks in Kris' mouth then superkicks her. Willow apron death valley drivers Skye through 2 tables next to each other outside. Kris back body drops Julia onto chairs then Kris misses a 450, landing on the chairs. Julia puts her in hartless and submits her.

It was a fun hardcore match with them going through tables and going into tacks. There weren't any real botches and I had no issues with it.

Overall thoughts: I liked 2 of the 4 matches here. I didn't love the opening tag match but it wasn't all bad. The main delivered and I thought it was a good show overall.
