AEW Rampage 3/1/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/02/aew-rampage-2232024.html

Claudio Castagnoli vs Rugido

CC throws him off to start and poses. Rug armdrags him then CC crossfaces him. Rug armdrags him and poses. Rug does a fireman's carry and they do legsweeps. Rug flying forearms him then hurricanrana's him from the electric chair. Rug then topes him.

Rug top rope crossbodies him then is lariated. CC stomps him then throws him out. Rug is sent into the rails outside then dropped throat first on the rail. CC stomps him then catapults his neck into the bottom rope. CC corner splashes him then armdrags him off the 2nd rope.

We go to PiP break and return. CC wristlocks him again. Rug hits headscissors and dropkicks him out. Rug asai moonsaults him. Rug cradles him then CC euros him. CC lariats him for 2. Rug corner lariats him then overhead belly to belly suplexes him.

Rug powerslams him for 2. Rug armdrags him into an armbar. CC giant swings him for 2 then hits elbows. CC hits a neutralizer and wins it.

It was long, slow and not that good. Rugido's the lucha guy so you would expect him to show off yet he didn't do anything special here. Some of offense on CC also looked silly due to the size differences.

CC teases shaking hands with him after then low blows him. Magnus then comes out to save him.

We get videos on The Young Bucks vs Sting/Darby situation and a hype video for the 3 way at the PPV.

Lance Archer and The Righteous vs Luke Langley, Anaya and Vaught

Vincent does his finger snapping thing and hits a running back elbow. Vincent sliding kicks him and hits a low flatliner. Vaught takes a Dutch powerbomb then Dutch black hole slams Luke. Lance suplexes Vaught in and lariats him. Luke chokeslams Vaught onto his Luke. Vincent hits an assisted sliced bread on Anaya. Lance hits blackout on Luke onto Anaya and picks up the win.

It was a predictable squash, likely just to get Lance and The Righteous on TV.

Riho vs Trish Adora

Riho got a women's title shot on 12/30 and hasn't been seen since. They test strength and Riho is shouldered over. Trish drops down and gets her back double stomped. Riho dropkicks her then top rope crossbodies her outside. Riho gets caught on a crossbody and takes a spinning uranage backbreaker.

We go to PiP break and return. Trish blocks a headscissors with a backbreaker. Riho stunners her over the top rope then top rope crossbodies her. Riho spinning headscissors her then hits a 619. Riho northern lights suplexes her for 2. Trish pump kicks her then misses a senton. Riho crucifix bombs her for 2 then meteoras her for the win.

It was fine. No one botched anything here and it ended at about the right time. We'll have to see if Riho actually sticks around this time.

Angelo Parker and Ruby Soho talk to Alex Marvez before their date. He asks if they are an All-Elite couple. Saraya and Harley Cameron show up. Zak Knights hits Parker in the knee with something from behind then he hits him in the neck with it. Saray says "you needed me, b!tch". Ruby then calls for help.

All-Star 8-Man Scramble Qualifying Match - Magnus vs Matt Sydal

They trade armdrags. Matt flying headscissors him then hurricanrana's him. Matt hits a high spin kick then top rope crossbodies him outside. Matt spin kicks him then hits a standing corkscrew moonsault. Mag double underhook backbreakers him and we go to PiP break.

Matt gets kicked off the ropes then takes an angel's wings. Matt blocks a back body drop then hurricanrana's him. Matt jumping kicks him then hits a high kick. Matt fisherman busters him. Matt goes to springboard but is tripped. Matt hits high kicks then is crotched up top. Matt top rope meteora's him for 2.

Mag hits wasteland on him then legdrops him. Matt misses a hurricanrana on the ropes and goes down hard. Mag corner meteora's him and wins it.

Like the Rugido match, it was very average. It was your usual Matt Sydal match and Magnus didn't have many highlights here.

Overall thoughts: It was fine. All 4 matches were about average. Nothing awful but nothing must see either.
