WWE NXT Level Up 2/9/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/02/wwe-nxt-level-up-222024.html

Kelani Jordan vs Stevie Turner

Hey it's Stevie Turner. I don't know what the deal is with her. They use her for a week then forget about her for a few months and then do it again. Byron says she feels left out of the women's division and passed by.

Stevie armdrags her then hits the top rope while KJ's head is on it. KJ snapmares her and crossbodies her while she's seated. KJ poses at her and they shove each other. Stevie slaps her and KJ headflips out of a wristlock. KJ does a tiger feint armdrag between the ropes.

Stevie hits her from behind and hits mounted punches. Stevie face kicks her on the ropes then neckbreakers her for 2. Stevie chinlocks her then knee lifts her. KJ backslides her then cartwheel back elbows her. KJ steps over her leg and spinning heel kicks her in the mouth. KJ handsprings then hits a flatliner for 2.

Stevie pump kicks her then KJ hits a split legged moonsault for the win.

Kelani got to show off here and hit her usual flying offense. Stevie didn't get a ton in here unfortunately but she didn't screw up anything either.

Javier Bernal is interviewed. He says to call him Javi. He's facing Keanu Carver tonight. He said a clip of Carver pouncing Riley went viral. He said he's impressive but no Big Body Javi. He said if you want honey you go to the bees, if you meat you go to the butcher and if you want your next viral moment, you go to Big Body Javi.

Javier Bernal vs Keanu Carver

Byron said Javi told him he's next in line to be on the WWE video game cover. There's a "Keanu" chant for Carver. They say he had 2 mathes and has demanded the respect of the NXT Universe.

They lock up and Javi is pushed back. Javi pushes him and is pushed back. Javi tries to shoulder battle him but KC isn't moving. Javi slaps him and KC shoulders him over. KC back elbows him and lariats him in the corner. KC gets stuck in the ropes on a failed kick then Javi hits shots. Javi corner dropkicks him then low dropkicks him in the shoulder.

Javi legdrops him then does a flatliner. Javi kneels on KC's back and pulls his chin. KC's mouth is busted open and he hits forearms. KC fallaway slams him then hits a huge pounce. KC runs into a double boot then Javi puts his feet on the ropes and pins him.

I was really surprised to see Javi get the win here especially since he loses all of the time. It was what it needed to be with Javi getting the big man mad and paying for it. It could have been a little better with Javi taking more of a whooping, but it made sense and worked.

Tavion Heights vs Myles Borne

Borne is selected from The Crew and we are told him and Tav are old friends. Tav lifts and slams him out of the waistlock. Borne face shoves him then is slammed down again. Tav wrestlers him down and Borne goes for the fujiwara armbar.

Borne grabs the hair and fireman's carries him. Tav rolls over Borne's back and armdrags him. Tav has him in the fireman's carry and throws him up from there. Tav hits a karelin's lift on him.

Tav double legs him and drives him into the corner. Borne grabs the tights and they mess up a neckbreaker spot. Borne stomps him in the corner then suplexes him. Tav throws him over and sunset flips him. Borne hits a nice dropkick and chinlocks him.

Tav hits a big forearm. Borne goes for a dropkick and Tav kind of catches him with a powerslam. They trade shots and Tav hits a nasty lariat. Tav over head belly to belly suplexes him then does a sling blade variation. Tav is distracted by The Crew and Borne powerslams him to win it.

They had some sloppy moments here and some impressive moments here. The sloppy moments seem to mostly come from Tav though. Tav hit a super nasty lariat and I really wish they would have hit that dropkick > powerslam spot. Maybe next time.

Overall thoughts: Nothing to see here. Javi/Carver was a smart match though I don't like Carver losing. The main should have been good but had issues and the opener was very one-sided.
