AEW Collision 2/3/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/01/aew-collision-1272024.html

Continental Crown Proving Ground Match - Eddie Kingston vs Bryan Keith

They go for leg kicks and lock up. Bryan slaps him and Eddie blocks another slap attempt. Bryan runs through a chop, shoulders him over then is chopped over. Eddie hits crossface punches, chops and belly to belly suplexes him.

They trade headbutts. Bryan headbutts him on his knees and is chopped and knee'd. They trade chops for forearms. Bryan running face kicks him. Bryan knee drops him and Eddie rolls up. Eddie is thrown into the rail outside and goes down.

Eddie hits chops inside then Bryan hits forearms. Eddie belly to belly suplexes him. We go to PiP break and return. Eddie boots him in the corner and Bryan headbutts him as he sits on top. Eddie rolls down to the floor.

Eddie gets on the apron then is face kicked off. Bryan then flip dives him off the apron. Bryan kicks him in the corner then michinoku drivers him. Eddie exploders him then Bryan exploders him back. Eddie no sells it then Bryan tiger drivers him for 2. Eddie uraken's him ,takes a knee to the head and hits a saito suplex for 2.

Eddie hits a chop flurry in the corner. Bryan no sells it and enzugiri's him. Eddie sleepers him. Bryan tries chinbreakers to get out of it then Eddie ddt's him. Bryan hits slaps and is uraken'd for the win.

As usual, Eddie's uraken didn't look real good. There was some no selling here which I didn't like and it had the usual weak Eddie chops. I just thought it was average. Usually, if you go 10 minutes in a Proving Ground Match, you get a title shot. I'm not sure if they will abide by those rules here despite this involving the ROH Title.

Tony Schiavone interviews Eddie Kingston. Eddie basically has nothing to say and tells him to talk to Bryan Keith. I don't know why Eddie keeps doing this when talking is his sole strength. Tony then tells Bryan that he is All Elite starting tonight and is signed. I like Bryan Keith so I'm okay with it, but I don't expect him to advance much further than where he is now.

Bryan Danielson comes out and raises Bryan Keith's hand.

Jon Moxley does a promo that was taped after Dynamite this week. He talks about the CMLL luchadores he picked a fight with. He said it reminded him of a bad night in Laredo. He said CMLL has the greatest luchadores in the world. Mox said the BCC studies the history of wrestling all over the world and respects the history of it. He said they came into his house, talked crap and got in his face. He said that behavior must be paid for. He said this isn't like that show on the other channel and says the BCC is the elite of the elite. He said they came to his backyard and better hope he doesn't come to theirs.

Bryan Danielson vs El Hechicero

Hec comes out with balls that are on fire and makes the flames shoot out. He then gets flames for his entrance. They lock up and Bryan wristlocks him. Hech spins out and they leglock each other. They hit shots while they are tied up then Hech rolls through a pin. Hech headscissors him then Bryan surfboards him. Hech escapes and surfboards him.

Bryan hits chops and kicks in the corner. Hech sunset flips him out of a hurricanrana. We are told Hook just arrived and asked for a match. Bryan euros Hech then Hech does a headscissors takedown/headscissors legdrop. Hech flips him into a grounded chinlock and Bryan ropebreaks.

Bryan rolls out and we go to PiP break. We return and Hech hits chops. Hech hits punches in the corner. Bryan flips over him in the corner then Hech springboard dropkicks him. Hech jumping double knees him in the corner then hits corner punches.

Bryan headbutts him up top and gets caught in a hold on his way down. Hech rolls him into a pin attempt for 2. Hech chokes him on the ropes then sends Bryan out. Hech suicide dives him outside. Hech springboards and Bryan just stands there and lets him run into him. Bryan puts him in a lebell lock.

Hech ties his legs up and rolls him with an armlock. They trade shots on thier knees. Bryan hits kicks to the chest then is put in a swinging hammerlock backbreaker. Bryan dragon screws him. The ref counts 3 as Hech puts Bryan in a grounded octopus then Bryan pins Hech.

The ref messed up the finish here, counting a 3 when he shouldn't have. It was a good little technical wrestling match with them trading various holds and pin attempts.

Hech dropkicks Bryan in the back then stomps him. Hech hits punches then Claudio Castagnoli makes the save. Hech slides out.

FTR and Daniel Garcia are interviewed. Lexi asks if the team is to keep this team alive. DG says sometimes the best things in life are unplanned. DG said they don't have matching gear and needs to change that. DG said he's glad he has these two by his side. Cash said he likes having one of the best rising young stars in wrestling on his side. Cash said they closed their chapter with The House of Black, but maybe start a new one tonight. Dax said they didn't make the tag rankings but did make the trios rankings. Dax said they are starting a new chapter with the trios titles and that goes through The Patriarchy tonight.

Handicap Match - Hook vs The Outrunners

The Outrunners ring announcement is messed up then Hook hits an overhead suplex. Hook shoulder throws Truth. Truth hits Hook from behind. Hook is slammed then double suplexed. The Outrunners pose then Hook double clotheslines them. Turbo takes an exploder as does Truth. Hook hits crossfaces punches on Turth then back body drops Turbo. Turbo is lariated over the top then Hook taps out Truth with redrum.

I don't know why they buried The Outrunners like this. Would Hook beating one of these guys instead of two have gotten any less of a reaction? I doubt it.

Tony Schiavone interviews Mark Briscoe in the ring. Mark said him and Jay used to watch Tony on Saturdays as kids and said it feels good to be up in here tonight with Tony. Mark said he tried to help out FTR and Daniel Garcia last week but got jumped by The House of Black. Mark said they got the win though while The House of Black crawled back to the locker room.

Mark said it's been a tough year but says if you knock him down, he will get back up. He said he will fight until he can't no more. The lights go out and House of Black appear on the tron. Black says that's very touching and said he likes magic tricks. He said he likes the one where the magician make people disappear. He said that's what he intends to do to Mark. He said they will eradicate him from the history of wrestling. The lights then come back on. Black said it's that easy.

We see a video on The Cope Open.

Serena Deeb vs Queen Aminata

Deeb headlock takeovers her then stands on her back and poses. Queen wristlocks her and rubs her butt in her face. Deeb rolls out then surfboards her on the mat. They stand off and Queen shoulders her over. Deeb trips her then single leg crabs her. Queen suplexes her.

We go to PiP break and return. They fight over a double knuckle lock. Deeb flying lariats her then hits punches. Deeb spinning forearms her then neckbreakers her over the middle rope. Queen back body drops her for a 2 count then Deeb and Deeb backslides her for 2. Queen headbutts her down.

Queen corner hip attacks her then misses a facewash kick. Deeb figure fours her around the post. Deeb spinning neckbreakers her then taps her out with the serenity look.

It was okay at first but slowed down and went too long.

Swerve Strickland is interviewed by Tony Schiavone in the ring. It goes nowhere early as Swerve talks about race. Swerve says Adam Page is in his way. He said he beat him twice and said maybe he moves on and becomes champ after he beats him again. Nana starts talking about The Mogul Embassy and Swerve cuts him off. Swerve tells him no interference during his match with Page. He said he doesn't want any more excuses and said he will see him Wednesday. This wasn't a good promo.

We see a Toni Storm promo from after Dynamite on Wednesday. Mariah asks Toni if she saw her match. Toni said if you see one women's match, you see them all. She said she will see, sniff and taste Deonna. Toni asks Luther to book her a public workout so she can show how technical she is. She then asks for cranberry juice and gauze. This sucked.

Red Velvet vs Vertvixen

Red side headlocks her and they collide with shoulders. Red leg lariats her then bulldogs her off the casadora. Red hits punches in the corner then Vert blue thunders her. Vert pump kicks her then Red reverses a backdrop. Red hits shots then double knees her against the ropes. Red misses a spinning enzugiri for the win.

It was short and Red missed her finisher here.

Red said she is coming for all of the gold after and says lets stir it up.

The Patriarchy (Christian Cage, Killswitch and Nick Wayne) vs FTR and Daniel Garcia

CC = Christian Cage, KS = Killswitch

Nic and Dax start us off. Nick wristlocks him then Dax side headlocks him. Dax chops him down and CC gets in. Dax shoulders him over then cradles him. Dax backrolls CC for 2 then cradles him again. Nick slaps Dax.

DG shoulders Nick over then they trade armdrags. DG legsweeps him and they stand off. Nick does DG's dance and nick is thrown over the top along with CC. We go to PiP break and return. CC stands on DG on the ropes. CC chinlocks him and boots him in the gut. CC blocks a DG tag and back elbows him. CC misses a top rope headbutt.

Cash and Nick get in. Cash hits punches on him and dropkicks KS on the apron. Cash dropkicks CC then euros and chops Nick. Cash backslides Nick. KS takes shots from both FTR members then takes a high/low. Nick rolls up Dax for 2 then code red's him for 2.

Dax top rope backdrops Nick for 2. KS back body drops Dax then CC pulls Dax's neck down on the ropes. KS chokeslams Dax. We go to another PiP break. We return and Dax back body drops CC. Dax ights out of the corner then Nick suplexes him for 2. Dax rolls Nick then backdrops him.

CC throws Dax out and KS runs himself over the steps when Dax moves. Dax and CC collide and both go down. Dax back body drops Nick then DG gets in. DG knocks Nick over and saito suplexes him. DG hits a corner lariat then hits punches on CC. DG hits punches on Nick then corner stomp flurries him. DG and Cash then hit stereo corner punches.

Cash topes KS then DG brainbusters Nick. Nick sends DG into the buckles then fisherman suplexes him for 2.

Nick slaps DG around. DG then cradles him for 2. DG spinning neckbreakers Nick for 2. CC bangs DG's head off the buckles then Dax and CC fight on the apron. CC pushes DG off the top into a Nick cutter then CC hits a killswitch on Dag on the floor. Cash runs and catches Nick with a powerslam. KS chokeslams Cash. KS misses a splash then CC spears DG. Dax sharpshooters CC then Nick hits wayne's world while Dax has the hold on. Nick is rolled up by DG and DG wins it.

It was an okay main. Not great or memorable but it was acceptable. I thought the finish could have been a little better.

DG dances at Christian after then stares him down. They make it seem like DG might challenge him for his TNT title.

Overall thoughts: It was a mostly good show. Danielson/Hechicero was good and the main was fine. Eddie vs Bryan Keith was about average. I didn't like Swerve's promo and I didn't like Hook beating The Outrunners in a handicap match.

  1. This CMLL/BCC deal has me super excited. I can absolutely picture Moxley and Wheeler Yuta showing up at Arena Mexico and generating some nuclear heat. Not to mention the idea of getting some allies in the CMLL rudos (like how Shota Umino isn't an actual member, but he's still tight with them).

    1. I'd definitely like to see the BCC show up in CMLL. That would be fun.
