AEW Collision 2/10/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/02/aew-collision-232024.html

Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli) vs Esfinge and Star Jr.

Star and Mox start us off. Mox headlock takeovers him and kimura's him. Mox grabs him by the leg and pulls on the hair. Mox hits a crossface. Star does a roll into a leg and arm hold. Star struggles to roll him into a bow and arrow then CC breaks it up. Mox chops Star then Star punches him. Mox is flapjacked then Star enzugiri's him off a kip up. CC takes a double superkick out but him and Mox back off so they don't get dived on.

CC and Esf go at it. They trade pin attempts and CC giant swings him. Mox hits corner punches on Esf. Star avoids a double clothesline, pushes CC into Mox then walks up the buckles, walks the top rope and does a headscissors + armdrag takeover. Star and Esf do stereo tope con hilos.

Star slingshot sunset flips CC but CC holds on. Star chops CC then springboards into CC's euro. Esf is thrown into the rails by Mox. We go to PiP break and return. CC cits on Star and does a headlock. CC pops up Star and is headscissored over. Mox goes up and over Esf then is kicked. Esf superkicks CC then monkey flips Mox. Esf monkey flips CC then tries to roll Mox into a bridge but CC breaks it.

Star springboard lariats CC then flying lariats Mox. Star tornillo topes CC then Esf springboard splashes Mox. Mox lariats Esf then puts him in la magistral for 2. Mox and Esf trade shots. Star springboards, CC gorilla presses him and Star is thrown into a Mox cutter. CC ricola bombs Esf then Mox kicks Star in the head. Mox hits downward elbows on Star then armbars him. Star taps out.

They had issues getting on the same page early. I didn't like the finish as it was random and really out of nowhere. It felt like they needed another 5 minutes or so. The CMLL guys also could have used a win here to look more like threats.

Mox gets on the mic after. He says to take that message over to CMLL and tell anyone that if they want to step up, they get stepped on. FTR then come out and stare down Mox and CC. Mox face shoves Dax and the four fight. A whole bunch of people come to break it up. I'm not sure if we have seen FTR vs the BCC, but it feels like a fresh match and seems interesting.

Daniel Garcia vs Shane Taylor

Shane has new music and it sucks. Two people carry a Shane Taylor Promotions flag behind him. DG wristlocks Shane and ducks a shot. Shane cheap shots DG and knocks him down. DG side headlocks him then Shane shoulders him over. Shane hits a stiff forearm and knocks him down.

Shane does DG's dance and hits a big chop. DG fires up and dragon screws him. DG butt drops Shane's leg then is pushed over the top down to the floor. We go to PiP break then full break. Shane ducks punches and headbutts him in the chest.

Shane misses a legdrop on the apron. DG boots him in the corner then DG hits punches. Shane throws him back then takes a dropkick to the knee. DG stomps Shane then dropkicks his leg around the bottom rope. Shane pop-up powerbombs DG and punches him for 2.

DG dropkicks Shane in the leg again. Shane blocks a sunset flip and misses a legdrop. DG leglocks him and Shane taps out.

I really liked this one. DG stuck to working the leg here and played a good underdog vs the bigger Shane. Shane's strikes looked great like usual and I'd really like to see him win with a punch sometime.

Lexi interviews Eddie Kingston. He said the Young Bucks attacking Sting and Darby was disgusting. He said Bryan Danielson stole the thunder of Bryan Keith last week to get under Eddie's skin. Eddie said Bryan got under his skin and he is challenging him to a match at Revolution. He said Bryan has to shake his hand if he beats him.

Handicap Match - Brian Cage vs The Outrunners

There's a mascot out there from the Vegas Golden Knights with The Runners. Truth fails to suplex Cage then takes a release german for it. Turbo punches Cage and Cage no sells it. Cage short arm lariats him. The Outrunners have great new tights. Cage double suplexes both opponents then spinning lariats Turbo. Truth takes a powerbomb then Cage does a texas cloverleaf lion tamer and submits him.

This was just a quick and useless squash.

The mascot covers his eyes after and does Nana's dance. The mascot and Nana do Nana's dance then Cage nails the mascot from behind in a funny moment.

Hook comes out and Cage grabs him. They fight on the ramp/stage and go to the back.

Lexi interviews The Undisputed Kingdom and Tomohiro Ishii. Taven said he used to be in CHAOS with Ishii then he got knee surgery and wasn't in it anymore. Strong said none of that matters and said he is coming for the International Title if Ishii wins tonight. Strong said he can't wait to break him and tries to shake his hand but Ishii pulls it away.

Tony Schiavone interviews Adam Copeland in the ring. Adam said if he was at Dynamite, what happened to Sting and Darby wouldn't have happened. Adam said that's a warning to The Bucks. Adam said he could challenge for various titles being the #3 ranked contender. He said the TNT title was ripped out of his hands, so he says we know where he is leaning.

Daniel Garcia comes out. He said Adam has been picking up wins and agrees he does deserve a shot at a title. DG said he's been picking up wins too. He said after beating Christian last week, he thought maybe he does deserve a title shot. He said maybe he will lose but he will fight 1,000 times over until he wins a title. Adam said he didn't beat The Patriarchy by himself. Adam said they both want shots at the TNT title so something must give. He said they should fight and the winner of their match fights Christian. They then shake on it.

Adam doesn't let go and said he's not taking his face off because he had a match already. Adam said DG is threatening to take food off of his family's table and that doesn't work for him. He said he will beat his @ss next week.

Renee interviews Kris Statlander, Willow and Stokeley. She said the addition of Stoke is working out for them. Stoke says they are like Full House. He is Danny, Kris is DJ and Willow is Michelle. Stoke said he only knows two bad @sses in AEW and it's Willow and Kris. They said Skye keeps coming back for more and is too hung on their past. Kris said they can be her future. Willow said her and Skye never fought. They tell Stoke to make it official, but he says Tony has him blocked so he may need to borrow a phone.

Brody King vs Mark Briscoe

Brody backs him up in the corner, misses a shot and takes a forearm and chop. Mark face kicks Brody then hits forearms, chops and corner punches. Brody throws him across the ring then cannonballs him. Brody hits chops in the corner and slams him. Brody hits a senton for 2. Brody foot chokes Mark.

Mark spears Brody from the apron and pulls him out to the floor. Mark dropkicks him through the ropes then blockbusters him off the apron. Mark jumps off a chair and tope con hilos on Brody. Mark plancha's, is caught then thrown into a chair in the rail corner.

We go to PiP break and return. Mark takes a black hole slam for 2. Mark hits chops and flying forearms him. Mark flying kicks him then hits chops. Brody takes a face kick out of the ring then Mark corkscrew dives on him off the top.

Mark lariats Brody in the ring then Brody hits a stiff lariat and flips him. Mark hits chops on Brody then Brody hits a stiff forearm. Mark rolling death valley drivers him. Julia Hart distracts Mark on the buckles then Mark is pushed off the top through a table. Brody puts him on his shoulder and piledrivers him to win it.

It was good. Brody should have gotten a little more offense in. Thankfully it ended after the table spot.

Julia stabs Mark with a spike after. Mark bleeds and Brody rubs the blood on his forearms. Mark seriously bled from that spike shot.

Bryan Keith does a promo. He said he's all about his payday. He said he's looking for the big matches, all the stars and is looking to climb the ranks and collect his bounty. He said if you stand across the ring from him, you better be ready to pay up sucka. This was good.

Deonna Purrazzo vs Kiera Hogan

DP takes her down via the wrist. Kiera rolls and kips up then rolls her up. DP yanks Kiera's arm then is tripped into the 2nd rope. Kiera hip attacks her against the 2nd rope. DP codebreakers her arm over the 2nd rope. DP twists the arm with her legs then kneedrops it.

DP straightjacket chokes her then backcrackers her while she does it. Kiera hits a chop and takes a pump kick. Kiera superkicks her then is flatlinered. Kiera boots her out of the corner then 2nd rope dropkicks her. DP pump kicks her then running kneelifts her. DP hits a russian legsweep then taps her out with her venus di milo.

The crowd didn't care at all and it wasn't anything too interesting. DP worked the arm before tapping her out with an arm submission.

Toni Storm comes out as Deonna poses. Toni does an odd shuffle at her.

Toni Storm vs Queen Aminata

Queen wristlocks her and Toni reverses it. Queen snapmares her and crucifixes her. Toni side headlocks her then Queen shakes her butt in Toni's face, Toni trips her into the 2nd rope then hits a Thesz press. Toni pounds on her and we go to PiP break.

We return and Toni full-nelson's her. Toni sunset flips her then Queen cradles her. Queen hits a lariat then snap suplexes her. Queen running kicks her for 2. Toni ddt's her for 2 then Queen hits an air raid crash for 2. Toni's mouth is bleeding all ofer the black and she hip attacks Queen in the corner. She hits a short piledriver and wins it.

It wasn't any good. I think Toni is doing a bunch of old-time moves now like the full-nelson and Thesz press to fit her character. The crowd didn't care about this one.

Toni gets on the mic. She tells Tony Schiavone to stop looking at her like that. She said she had another fantastic technical show of brilliance. She said on "Die-nam-e-tay" she will release a brand new film. She says something about Deonna after but I have no idea what she said.

AEW International Title - Orange Cassidy (c) vs Tomohiro Ishii

They lock up and OC puts his hands in his pockets after. OC rolls and dropkicks him with his hands in the pockets and is shouldered out. They collide with shoulders and OC shoulderblocks him. OC hits forearms and Ishii no sells them.

Ishii chops him down. We go to PiP break and return. OC hits a stunner out of a suplex attempt then OC ddt's him. OC topes him outside then does another ddt. OC jumps off the top and does a diving ddt for 2. OC hits corner stomps then corner dropkicks him. Ishii corner lariats him then takes a jumping face kicks in the corner.

OC face kicks him then shotgun dropkicks him. Ishii shoulders him over. OC hits forearms then is dropped with a forearm for 2. Ishii 2nd rope delayed superplexes him for 2. Ishii germans him then chops him. OC hulks up then collapses on the mat to avoid a chop. Ishii hits a forearm then powerbombs him. OC avoids a sliding forearm and rolls him up for 2. O rolls him up again for 2 and sunset flips him. Ishii headbutts him and takes a flying forearm. OC beachbreaks him for 2.

Ishii dragon suplexes him and lariats him for 2. OC superkicks him and takes an enzugiri. Ishii sliding lariats him then OC cradles him to win it.

I wasn't a fan of this one like usual with OC matches. A title was on the line here and he's goofing around. I didn't think these two worked that well together and the crowd wasn't that interested in it. Ishii obviously also wasn't winning.

The Undisputed Kingdom come in after and spike piledriver OC.

Overall thoughts: I'd put this one in the middle. There were some good and bad matches. It was a heavy wrestling show. The crowd sucked and brought everything down, though the card wasn't going to interest the average person much. I doubt this one will do a good rating.

  1. Honestly, I'd much rather see Garcia challenge for the TNT Title than Copeland. They've been practically joined at the hip in AEW since October.
