Game Changer Wrestling 1/26/2024 Look At Me

Game Changer Wrestling 1/26/2024 Look At Me

I saw 9 of 12 matches here.

Joey Janela vs AJ Francis

Joey hits punches and hits a hard running forearm. Joey topes him then is powerbombed into the post and apron. Joey is pulled into the post. AJ running knees him in the corner then pulls his neck over the top rope. AJ misses a kick and his crotch goes into the 2nd rope. Joey tornado ddt's him. Joey top rope swantons him outside.

A door and chair are brought in. Joey is sent into the post. AJ chairs him. Joey hits forearms and a spinning forearm. Joey misses a to prope move then is chokeslammed onto a door on the apron. AJ goes for a move on the buckles and is powerbombed through chairs. DJ Whoo Kid gets in the ring to help out AJ. Joey grabs him and death valley drivers him through a table.

AJ face kicks Joey. Things slow down as they set up a door on chairs and the chair breaks. AJ 2nd rope exploders Joey through a door. They trade forearms and Joey throws a chair at him. They lariat each other and AJ flips him. Joey then rolls him up off a chokeslam and wins it.

The first half was okay then it just kept going. I didn't like AJ getting powerbombed by the smaller guy here and I thought they did way too much.

Lio Rush vs Jack Cartwheel

Jack does a cartwheel and wants Lio to do one. Lio does and Jack asks for another cartwheel. Lio obliges. They tease doing one together and Lio boots him. Lio hits shots in the corner. They trade forearms. Lio cartwheels into a superkick then Jack superkicks him. Jack lariats him then Lio low topes him. jack does a cartwheel powerslam and misses a corkscrew moonsault. Lio spears him and frogsplashes him for the win.

It was an entertaining juniors match. Lots of cartwheels and flying here as expected. Jack has really expanded his cartwheel offense since the last time I've seen him and has improved his look.

Los Macizos (Ciclope & Miedo Extremo) & Rina Yamashita vs. Gahbage Daddies (Alec Price & Cole Radrick) & Mr. Danger

The two teams charge at each other and miss. Rina's team takes triple superkicks. Cole hurricanrana's Ci then Price springboard crossbodies him. Danger springboard legdrops Ci. Price hits knees on Ci then takes his headphones off. Price suplexes him for 2.

Cole works Ci's arm. Rina breaks it up and gets kicked. Ci pulls Cole over the top then Danger plancha's Cole. Ci flips Price with a lariat. Rina gets in and takes a 2v1. Rina tries to grab the crotches of Danger and Cole then takes forearms. Danger and Cole are snet into each other and grabbed by the crotch. Cole and Price take stereo backdrops.

Price is double hiptossed and double dropped. CI top rope headbutts Price in the crotch. Cole does a bad os cutter off the top then Price walks the buckles into a blockbuster. Danger top rope asai moonsaults. Cole and Price do stereo dives outside.

Danger hits people with ladders then does a swanton off the top of the ladder to the outside. Danger does a top rope 450 then takes a spinebuster. Price does a top rope leg lariat on Ci. A door is put in the ring. Rina does a bad top rope plancha to the outside. Extremo lariats Danger and sets up a ladder. Extremo drops Ci onto Danger through a door. Rina then top rope splashes Danger and wins it.

It was garbage as expected as it was a hardcore intergender match. Rina's dives really looked weak here and Mr. Danger's dives were the only good part about this one.

Tony Deppen vs. Mansoor

Mansoor is flipped out of a wristlock. Mansoor armdrags him and Tony rolls through with it then arm throws him. Mansoor walks up Tony's knee and takes him down then arm flips him three times. Tony forearms him down then Tony puts his own shirt over his face. Mansoor then dropkicks him.

Tony hits shots to the arm and Mansoor forearms him. Mansoor superkicks him, atomic drops him and spinebusters him. Manshoot hits a chop and forearm combo. Mansoor powerbombs him while in it twice then Tony triangles him. Tony crossfaces Mansoor then pulls on both arms backwards and submits him.

The first few minutes were good, then Tony's shorts got pulled down. It then dragged, going on for another 10 minutes and lost my interest.

Jacob Fatu & Zilla Fatu vs. The Mane Event (Jay Lyon & Midas Black)

The Fatu's pose on the apron and get dropkicked. Jay then tope con hilos through a hula hoop onto them. Jacob goes into the post. Zilla is euro'd > tripped > double stomped. The Fatu's hit headbutts then Jay handspring back enzugiri's Jacob. Zilla spears Jay through a door then Jacob pop-up samoan drops Black. Jacob double jump moonsaults Black. Zilla samoan spike slams Black and wins it.

They did way too much here and didn't sell much at all. There were tons of highlight moments here with moonsaults to the outside, people going through tables and lots of flips.

Zilla looked good here and like Jacob, has a ton of potential. He's big, he's agile and he's scary. I'm not sure how many matches he has had, but he's way better than he should be at this stage. I just don't know how the Anoai/Fatu family just keeps producing talent like this. I'm a big believer in genetics determining some things in people's lives and this family was created for wrestling. These guys seriously need to be studied and cloned or something.

I hadn't seen The Mane Event for a while, but they've really upped their in-ring work and are a lot better now than they were on AEW Dark. They have a gimmick as well and if Jay Lyon could just drop some weight, they'd be a lot more marketable. I could see them getting a deal with TNA if nothing else.

John Wayne Murdoch vs Gringo Loco

John knocks him off the apron and sends him into the post. Loco is hit with a chair then John puts on Loco's entrance gear. John chokes Loco with his own jacket. They fight on the apron and Loco falcon arrows him on a door on the apron. Loco then double jump os cutters him.

Loco pop-up fire thunders him for 2. John low blows Loco then Loco powerbombs him on chairs. Loco top rope moonsaults him onto chairs and wins it.

I hated it. It was nothing but big spots. Loco even kicked out of a canadian destroyer at the 1 count here.

GCW Tag Team Title Match - Violence Is Forever (Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku) (c) vs. Culture Inc (Eli Knight & Malik Bosede)

Eli and Malik are jumped as soon as they enter. They then pair off outside. VIF are sent into each other. Eli top rope moonsaults outside onto both opponents. Dom takes a double stomp on the back > 2nd rope sling blade > standing twisting ssp.

Eli goes to springboard and is pulled down then Ku knees him off the apron. Malik takes moves in the corner then a backbreaker + 2nd rope knee. Dom chops Malik then Ku dragon screws him. Ku stomps the ankle. Dom snapmares Malik and kicks him in the back. Malik hits punches then coebreakers him.

It was a fast paced match with a lot of spots. Culture were kind of faces here but you know, this was about having a good match more than that stuff. Culture Inc will probably go onto better things due to their skin color and style. Eli's the Michaels of the group and can really fly high.

Local Competitor vs. The American Giant

So, The American Giant has been around since the 1990's, even making an appearance on WCW Saturday Night. He's tall, he's old, he's thin and he looks like a crazy version of Christopher from The Sopranos. Local Competitor is a wrestler named Faboo Andre. LC tries shots and gets nowhere. He's swatted down while in the air and is thrown into the buckles where he really bumps like crazy for him.

Giant throws him off the top then pins him with one foot off of a chokeslam.

This was a freakshow match and was indeed something different. The American Giant can't really move or do much and Local Competitor really bumped like crazy for him to the point of it being comedic. Giant is basically doing comedy.

Joey Janela tells Giant he's impressed by him after. Giant starts a USA chant while Joey talk to him. Joey asks him to come to another show. Giant asks if people want to see him and he agrees.

GCW World Title Match - Blake Christian vs. Marcus Mathers

Blake is growing out his hair and is definitely trying some new kind of character out. Blake clean breaks him and takes him down. Blake pulls on the arm, then bites his fingers and pulls his hair. MM up kicks him then hits an armdrag. MM rolls him up for 2.

Blake tries to slingshot off the apron but is forearmed then Blake springboard lariats him. Blake figure fours him and MM ropebreaks. Blake irish whips MM but he falls over as his legs are hurting too much. Blake hits corner forearms then MM double jump twisting crossbodies him.

MM does an os cutter then germans him for 2. Blake handspring corkscrew enzugiri's him then dropkicks him through the ropes. Blake plancha's him. MM avoids a 450 and cutters him off the kip up. MM 450's him for 2. MM tope con hilos Shane Mercer outside as he tried to help Blake out.

MM flips off the 2nd rope and his leg gives out. Blake springboard 450's him and taps him out with a combo texas cloverleaf/sharpshooter.

I didn't think it was anything special and I wasn't impressed with the selling of the leg, or lack thereof.

Shane beats up MM some after. Joey Janela then comes out and wants to fight. Blake said he beat him 3 times and asks what he wants. Blake asks him to put his title on the line and then says he will put his own title on the line too, making it a title vs title match. Joey agrees. Joey said they are making a mockery of GCW and Joey says he is GCW. He then says it's time to finish his story and win the title. He said people will find out that he's a bad boy and the GCW champ.

Overall thoughts: It was a GCW show. It's as indy as it gets. They do put together some interesting matches and bring some interesting people in but it doesn't lead to quality most of the time. They did way too much in almost every match and everything was basically under hardcore rules. Rush vs Cartwheel was entertaining and maybe the best thing on here. Zilla Fatu had a good showing, though they did way too much in his match. I wouldn't recommend this one.

  1. "They do put together some interesting matches and bring some interesting people in but it doesn't lead to quality most of the time." - You just summed up GCW in a single sentence.
