WWE NXT Level Up 4/14/2023
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2023/04/wwe-nxt-level-up-472023.html
Mr. Stone, fresh off leaving Von Wagner, is on commentary with Blake Howard and Byron Saxton.
Hank Walker vs Kale Dixon
Hank has a new name graphic. They said Kale doesn't wear shirts at the grocery store or anywhere he goes. Kale hits a chop and Hank is just confused by it and laughs. Hank then chops him much harder. Hank hits a back body drop then an armdrag. Hank blocks a hiptoss then hits his own plus an armdrag.
They trade shots and Kale neckbreakers him. Kale pounds on him and hits a nice lariat for 2. Hank hits punches then takes a spinning kick to the gut. Kale neckbreakers him then Hank hits a real stiff shoulderblock. Hank thesz presses him and pounds on him. Hank hits corner lariats and a running back elbow and wins it.
It was short and there wasn't anything wrong with it.
Lola Vice and Elektra Lopez are interviewed. Lopez says she's a business woman and said it was a smart business decision for their match with the tag champs. Lola said she just came here and said the other girls in the division aren't ready for their latina heat.
Tavion Heights vs Xyon Quinn
You could switch these names and they might even sound better - Tavion Quinn and Xyon Heights? Why not?
Tav picks him up and puts him in the corner. Xyon takes him down and is rolled up. Tav trips him then has his head banged off the mat. Xyon then suplexes him and stomps him in the corner. Xyon double stomps him then backbreaker and splashes him.
Xyon pulls both of Tav's arms back and Tav starts a comeback with a boot in the corner. Tav hits some shots and lariats him. Tav does an inverted F-U for 2 then runs right into a double cross chop in the throat. Xyon then jumping forearms him and wins it.
Xyon's not a great worker, but he's not a terrible one either. He did his duty here but I don't know if Tav got enough in or did a good enough job with what he did get.
Katana Chance and Kayden Carter vs Elektra Lopez and Lola Vice
Chance and Carter really fell off the map after their title loss. We haven't seen much of them at all.
Carter armlocks Lola then Lola gets out of it and kicks her in a nice move before dancing. They botch something then Kayden dances. Kayden tries to reverse a hiptoss but Lola reverses it into an armbar. Lopez catches Kayden and slams her. The KC's trip and then slingshot senton Lopez. Chance springboards backwards over Lopez and dropkicks her, then she is dropped from the electric chair position.
Lopez stomps her then her and Lola hit a double lariat before hip bumping each other. Lopez spinning kicks Chance in the gut then kicks her while Lopez holds her. Lopez racks Chance and misses an elbow. Lopez hits a backdrop for 2. Chance escapes a double backdrop and tags out.
Kayden gets the hot tag in and beats up both opponents. Kayden then hits a senton + kick combo. Kayden facekicks Lola through the ropes for 2. Lola hits a kick combo then takes a kick from Kayden. The KC's then hit a stereo double springboard with a moonsault and legdrop. Lola knees and axe kicks Chance. Chance is picked up and takes a double facebuster. Lola chases Kayden then takes a bottom rope dropkick from her. Lopez is armdragged and codebreakered by Chance then the KC's hit a 450 + neckbreaker combo and win it.
This was a fun little match. I liked the double teams from the latinas and Kayden/Kacy were good as usual. Lola as usual was a highlight here. The Lola/Lopez team is good for Lopez, but Lola has significant potential as a star and I have concerns that a team between them could hold her back.
Overall thoughts: All 3 matches were at least okay with the main being good. I don't know if I'd recommend going to see this one though.
