AEW Rampage 9/2/2022

AEW Trios Title Semifinals - Best Friends vs Dark Order

Danhausen tries to put a curse on Adam Page and is ejected. OC rolls up Page early and rides his back piggyback style. OC does his stupid pockets routine then Trent and chuck hugh each other. Silver and Reynolds try to do it and are pushed into each other. OC does his stupid weak kick spot and we get some various kicks and knees from everyone. Trent tornado ddt's Reynolds then Silver running euro's Trent.

We go to PiP break and return. Reynolds gets flipped to the outside onto opponents by Page from the powerbomb position. Page fallaway slams OC then dives on Reynolds on accident. Page is double chokeslammed through a table. Silver hits a bunch of moves on people to the outside then does a bunch of kicks on OC. OC stunners him then is flipped off a lariat. OC hits a beach break on Silver for 2. Silver is held in the air, and OC gets on his partners shoulders and splashes him. Page moonsaults off the top onto Chuck outside. Page then flips out of a top rope german. Page samurai drivers OC for 2.

OC takes a move sequence from the Order then Trent spears Page on the apron. Reynolds takes a foot stomp + beach break combo on the floor then Silver takes an awful waffle from Chuck. OC superman punches Page and Page is lariated over the top. Silver then rolls up Chuck out of nowhere and wins it.

The comedy sucked here. This is supposed to be this big important title and both teams are goofing around. The rest of this was just people busting out big moves at a fast pace.

We get a promo for Eddie Kingston vs Tomohiro Ishii which is on the PPV pre-show.

Rey Fenix vs Blake Christian

No intro for Blake. Blake spinning heel kicks him early and dropkicks him. Rey kips up then messes a run-up the knee armdrag. Rey bounce off the top and flips off for an armdrag. Blake hits a phosbury flop outside on him then Rey superkicks him inside. Rey drivers Blake and wins it.

This was a very rushed squash with both guys going super fast and Rey being oddly sloppy.

Hook is interviewed. 2.0 interrupts and Angelo talks about what happens if he can beat hook. Hook takes off his shirt and Menard says there's a time and a place and that's at the PPV.

They had an intergender tag with Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti vs Ortiz and Ruby Soho which I was not watching.

Athena and the Baddies were interviewed by Mark Henry.

Jade said Athena should have lost weeks ago and this should have been over. Jade said she is tired of everyone coming in and trying to get a title shot.

Jade calls her "Cahrity" and Kiera says she should be called #37 (as in the 37th person she beat). Athena says Jade thinks she is better than everyone but is not. Athena says she will beat her for everyone who had to deal with her.

The Acclaimed, Billy Gunn, Swerve and Lee talked. Gunn said they will be the 2nd best team in AEW on Sunday. Max says this is their house, saying they won the 2nd most amount of matches. and Bowens says they are taking home gold. Swerve says they have been cutting stupid rap jokes and says Bowens has been letting his partner down with injuries.

FTR and Wardlow come out to talk. Dax said he hadn't felt loved. Dax complained about people who didn't get the point of the FTR + Wardlow match. The Motor City Machine Guns, Singh, Dutt and Lethal came out. They talked about Detroit and introduced themselves. The Guns said the 4 of them have been together for 20 years and did the 4 Horsemen hand signal. Dutt mocked Dax saying he's going to fight like his 8 year old brat and Dax had to be held back to close the segment. This wasn't any good.

QT Marshall and Ricky Starks did the side by side interview with Mark Henry. QT said he promised he would get the job done by himself tonight. QT said his word is his bond. Starks said he has no choice but to get the job done by himself and we see that The Factory are locked in a closet.

QT goes to free The Factory then Starks hits him from behind. Starks is thrown into boxes then brought out. QT goes into the rails.

QT Marshall vs Ricky Starks

Starks is thrown into the rails then back body drops QT over the rail. Starks pounds on QT. We go to break and return and missed a top rope superplex on QT. They trade shots then QT does a handspring into an enzugiri. QT takes a belly to belly and a tornado ddt.

The Factory finally comes out and QT is given a watch. Starks spears folo off the apron and QT tried to put his feet on the ropes to win but is caught. Starks lariats QT over the top and goes with him then beats up The Factory outside. QT cutters Starks then Starks hits a spear. Starks hits a dominator and wins it.

I didn't like this one. I have no idea why QT was in this spot and I have no idea why he was going even with Starks here.

Powerhouse Hobbs comes down after and fights with Starks. Jericho talks trash about Bryan Danielson at the booth and Bryan comes out to close the show.

Overall thoughts:
I wasn't a fan of this one. This was just not the best way to do a go home show before a PPV and too many of AEW's goofs were on this show, plus an intergender match.
