AEW All Out 2022 9/4/2022

AEW All Out 2022 9/4/2022

Here's what I saw:

Casino Ladder Match

It was your usual ladder match with big spots and dives but it had a really stupid ending. A masked man came out as the joker and won it with help from Stokeley Hathaway and others. It made everyone look like idiots and the ending was super anti-climatic.

AEW TBS Title - Jade Cargill (c) vs Athena

Jade is wearing some green paint, apparently to dress up like She-Hulk.

Athena dives at her with dropkicks and is popped-up and meteora's her on the way down. Athena does her top rope cutter for 2 and the Baddies are supposd to pull out Athena, but screw up and do it too late. Athena then shotgun dropkicks Leila Gray hard into the rails. Jade pops her up into a samoan drop then spears her for 2. Jade throws her and takes a springboard twisting crossbody. Athena superkicks her as she is down then suplex lifts her into a stunner.

Athena rolls her up and springboard then is caught with a pump kick. Jade double chicken wing bombs her and wins it.

This was short and really not too bad at all as they kept it action packed.

AEW Trios Title Tournament Final - The Elite vs The Dark Order

Pager shoulders Nick over early then both flip and stand off. They shake hands. Alex and Matt flip out of wristlocks then stand off. Matt spits on Alex and this makes him take him down and pound on him. Matt gets stomped on by Silver and Reynolds then Page intervenes. Page and Omega square off and the announcers really put it over as some big moment. Omega is double tripped into a double basement dropkick. Page facekicks Omega then fallaway slams him. Page goes for a springboard but runs into a superkick. Page is then held over the apron while a Buck flip sentons him off the apron. One of the Bucks then dives on the Dark Order outside.

Page death valley drivers Omega then Silver does his stupid combo where he hits a bunch of moves on people. One of the Bucks stop it with a kick on the apron then that buck takes a brainbuster + tope combo outside. Silver spinning reverse firemans carry slams a Buck then Mat hits a double northern lights suplex on Silver and Reynolds. Omega hits snap dragons on the Dark Order then Silver hits him with kicks. Omega snap dragons him then Silver germans him and Reynolds rolls Omega up for 2.

Silver takes a v-trigger from Omega then Omega flip dives onto his opponents outside. Page top rope moonsaults Nick outside then Matt takes a pedulum bomb triple team. Nick breaks up the pin with a top rope swanton. We get a silly four person superkick spot where everyone kicks the other at the same time. Page and Omega go head to head and forearm each other then Page facekicks him. Page takes a back elbow, a v-trigger then a double underhook driver for 2. Page top rope Ultimo Guerrero special's Omega then buckshot lariats him in the back of the neck.

Nick buckshot lariats Page then Page takes a bte trigger for 2. Silver takes a v-trigger then rolls out of an OWA for a 2 count. Page accidentally buckshot lariats Silver and Omega gets the win over Silver.

We all knew the Elite were winning here. The belts were created for Kenny and of course he was going to be the first champ. They pushed Omega/Page which wasn't really pushed on TV leading up to this, so it didn't work out that great. It was pretty tame by Omega and Bucks standards and I didn't think it was that special.

Powerhouse Hobbs vs Ricky Starks

Starks ran to the ring and flurried him. Starks did a running forearm then took a stiff body block in the corner. Hobbs choked him on the ropes then hit corner stomps. Hobbs suplexed him and posed then Starsk rammed his shoulder into the post. Hobbs threw him into the rails then pounded on him in the corner. Hobbs facekicked him for 2 then neck cranked him.

Hobs missed a charge in the corner and took shots for it then was back elbowed. Starks then hit a tornado ddt for 2. Starks took a big spinebuster and Hobbs got the win.

Hobbs got the win too easy here and this was too simple for actually having some build to it. This didn't do a whole lot for Starks and it was a bad situation as neither guy could really afford to lose, but someone had to.

Chris Jericho vs Bryan Danielson

I thought this was a waste of a big match and was just kind of thrown out there last minute. Jericho came out with his Lionheart gear and nickname, which I didn't get. Daniel Garcia is shown watching in the back.

Bryan hits some reverse curbstomps early then Jericho throws a chair outside in frustration. Jericho rolls out of a wristlock then Danielson flips him out of a wristlock. Bryan hits a forearm flurry then Jericho gives him forearms back. Jericho puts him in a grounded octopus then Bryan gyrates before putting him in an indian deathlock. Chris double underhook backbreakers him then backdrops him. Jericho slaps him around then shoulders him. Jericho springboard dropkicks him then is knee'd when he tries to plancha him outside. Bryan then flying knees him off the apron.

Bryan top rope dropkicks him then Jericho crabs him. Bryan topes him then misses a top rope headbutt. Bryan blocks his lionsault and Jericho tombstones him. Jericho hits a lionsault then Bryan buzzsaw kicks him. Bryan crossfaces him then triangles him. Jericho catapults his neck into the bottom rope. Jericho codebreakers him as Bryan runs the ropes. Jericho puts him in a lion tamer then release german suplexes him.

Bryan flips out of a german and hits a busaiku knee then puts him in cattle mutilation. Bryan hits kicks to the back and shoulder then spinning forearms him. Bryan then does an elbow flurry and Jericho low blows him. Jericho hits a judas effect spinning back elbow and wins it.

They tried for a classic, but this really wasn't it. I didn't think it was anything particularly special.

AEW World Title - Jon Moxley (c) vs CM Punk

Mox sits down and flips him off to start. Punk his chops then is forearmed. Punk high kicks him then step up knees him in the corner. Punk then hammers on him with an elbow flurry and hits a GTS for 2. Punk topes him and they fight in the crowd. Mox is thrown over the rail and into the steps. Punk is thrown into the post and starts to bleed. Mox pounds on the wound outside then inside. Punk tries to fight back and is leg kicked.

Mox double stomps him then STF's him. Mox figue fours him and Punk flips him off then Mox short piledrivers him. Mox is thrown into the post shoulder first. Punk hits reverse curb stomps and puts him in the anacandona vice. Mox misses a lariat and then taks a leg lariat. Punk goes for a top rope elbow but is caught with a grounded sleeper. Mox germans Punk then Punk high kicks him. Mox hits a big lariat then Punk neckbeakers him. Mox hits a death rider ddt for 2.

Mox elbow flurries him then Punk hits a GTS. Punk hits another GTS then wins it.

It wasn't a bad fight. They bled, brawled and made it seem like there was a grudge. The whole story was convoluted and goofy though as Punk became champ, got injured, Mox became interim champ, then full champ, then Punk beat him and became champ.

They played some stupid voice message after with Tony Khan giving MJF a chance at the ladder match, then MJF came out and basically made it clear that he won the ladder match and will be challenging Punk. I am just shocked to find out that whole angle was not real.
