WWC Superestrellas de La Lucha Libre 7/31/2022
Yesterday's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/07/wwc-superestrellas-de-la-lucha-libre_30.html
WWC has a show on Saturday and Sunday each week and this is the Sunday show.
Abel Durant and Axel Cruz welcome us to the show like usual.
They talk about Ric Flair retiring I think and Axel goes "woo". Then they discuss Andrade vs Carlito.
We then go to:
Psycho Clown vs Carlito
I believe is is from 9/21/2019 and is joined in progress. Clown is thrown out then chairs Carlito when he tries to dive on him. Clown knees him in the gut and pulls his crotch into the post. Carlito has his head banged off a table and Clown hits him with a trash can. Clown hits chops and Carlito walks up into the stands where Clown whips him with something. Clown tries t throw him over the rails of the stands.
We go to a promo for the Anniversary Show and a commercial and actually return to the match. Last week, they went to break and never returned to the match. Carlito pulls Clown down from the apron and bangs his head off the table and post. Clown has his shirt ripped off and is hit with a trash can. Carlito then chairs a chair into Clown's crotch and butt.
Clown goes up and over in the corner and hits la magistral for 2. Carlito spinning neckbreakers him for 2. Carlito misses a charge in the corner then Clown twisting crossbodies him off the top and powerslams him. Clown hangs from the top rope and Carlito double stomps him down. Clown makes his comeback with a twisting springboard crossbody and a superkick. Clown top rope sunset bombs Carlito then the ref is pulled out by Texano Jr. Texano hits Clown and Carlito with a bullrope.
Texano throws Clown the rope and the ref sees it and awards the match to Carlito.
The brawling was decent but the finish sucked and made no sense. The ref gets pulled out while Clown is going for the pin and nothing happened because of it. Then the ref gets mad at Clown for having the weapon and disqualifies him.
We return to Axel and Abel and they tells us we have a classic match up next:
WWC Puerto Rico Heavyweight Title - Cage Match - Mighty Igor vs Kareem Muhammad
I believe this is from the 9/20/1987 WWC Anniversario Show. I have a bunch of magazines from the 70's and Igor was all over those. According to cagematch this was one of his last matches, though I'm sure there were more. This is joined in progress. Igor gets his head banged off the cage to start. Kareem hits a bunch of punches then Igor comes back with his own punches. Igor then gets his head banged off the cage and is bleeding. They trade punches and the video seems to be playing in slow motion for some reason.
We go to break and return. Igor hits more punches and Kareem is busted open now as well. Igor maybe goes to escape the cage and is stopped then Kareem hits more punches. Igor low blows Kareem then headbutts him. Igor headbutts him then Kareem falls out of the ring and goes through the cage door. Kareem wins!
I can't really rate this. We didn't see that much of it. What we did see wasn't too good though and I'm not sure I saw either guy really take any bumps. The finish was clever though.
They continue the fight after. Igor goes to chair him, Kareem hits him with the chair then Igor gets some shots in with the chair and chases Kareem off.
We get a video package on Ric Flair with various wrestlers talking about him.
Andrade El Idolo does a promo. It's short and he says basically nothing before saying he is coming to fight the dog, Carlito. He also mentioned Flair.
Carlito does a promo. Carlito says Ric Flair could be in his corner instead of Andrade's.
We then go to La Opinion De Gilbert.
Gilbert and Dynasty does a promo outside. He says his opinion is the only important one in wrestling. Gilbert says Ray Gonzalez is nothing to him. One of the La Seguridad says whoever messes wiht them gets ran out. Gran Armando says he is counting the days to look his opponent in the face and stomp him like a cockroach. Xavant talks about Eddie Colon and Intellecto 5 Estrellas. He says Dynasty will win all their matches and have all the power. Gilbert says he will do great things with the company once he is the director (after beating Ray Gonzalez). He says he will make Ray's life hell and says he deserves it. Xavant says they will have all the titles and Gilbert basically repeat it.
Joe Bravo does a promo for his match against Huracan Castillo Jr. He says Huracan is a child throwing a tantrum. He says if he shows up he will back up his words. He says Huracan will not walk out of there and he will prove he is the best at what he does.
The announcers then talk a little more about the big show to end this episode.
Overall thoughts: Not too good. To hype the big Anniversary show, we were shown two old matches that had three wrestlers total who won't even be on the show. The rest of it wasn't that special or newsworthy either.
