Stardom 8/6/2022 5*Star Grand Prix Day 3

Stardom 8/6/2022 5*Star Grand Prix Day 3

I just covered the GP matches:

5*Star Grand Prix - Red Stars - Koguma vs Saki Kashima

Kog trips her and dropkicks her in the lower back. Kog then camel clutches her and pulls the hair. Saki comes right back and stomps on her then bangs her head off the mat. Kog trips her and then dropkicks her again. Kog hits a slam then stomps on her back. Saki comes back with a flying headscissoes and facewash kicks her through the ropes for 2.

Saki uses the ropes to bulldog her and misses an uppercut that is sold anyway. Saki gets thrown off the top rope and they trade forearms. Kog then ddt's her and top rope dropkicks her. Kog spinning sleepers her and rolls her up for the win.

This was simple and nothing too special, but it was short and unoffensive enough.

5*Star Grand Prix - Blue Stars - Mayu Iwatani vs Hanan

Mayu poses on the ropes and gets dropkicked. Hanan hits more dropkicks and Mayu rolls her up into a basement dropkick. Mayu back kicks her then foot slaps her. Hanan hits forearms then 2nd rope twisting crossbodies her. Hanan side throws her into an interesting submission then hits a nice northern lights suplex for 2. Hanan then rolls her into a legbar and hits a odminator on her for 2.

They mess up a spot and do a bad spinebuster out of it. Mayu knocks her down with a hard forearm then dropkicks her against the ropes. Mayu then top rope splashes her for 2. Hanan hits a nice sto on her and rolls her into a near leg submission but Mayu ropebreaks. Hanan running famasser's her then hits a pumping knee. Mayu superkicks her back and Hana rolls her up for 2.  Mayu buzzsaw kicks her then 2nd buckle moonsaults her for 2. Mayu then hits a dragon suplex and wins it.

I thought it went longer than it needed to but they were stiff and showed a lot of fire and energy here which made up for some of the holes in it.

5*Star Grand Prix - Blue Stars - Natsupoi vs MIRAI

Poi cartwheels out of a wristlock and then rolls to get out of it. Poi headlock takedowns her and gets put in a headscissors, which Mirai turns into an a stranglehold alpha. Mirai shoulders her over then Poi hits a nice armdrag into a dropkick. Poi dropkicks her in the back and Mirai nearly botches a slam. Poi then slams her for 2 then bow and arrows her. Poi crossfaces her as she is hooked in the ropes then Mirai hits a big slam on her.

Mirai running shoulders her and slams her again then does a hammerlock slam. Mirai armlocks her then poi dropkicks her through the ropes. Poi is thrown off the buckles then Mirai top rope dropkicks her. Mirai then does a wheelbarrow slam for 2. Mirai does a samoan drop variation and tries a corkscrew vader bomb. Poit hits a nasty release german on her and is slammed on the mat body first. Poi rolls her up and Mirai reverses it. Mirai then lariats her and slaps on a hammerlock. Mirai hits another big lariat then Poi steps up her and rolls her up to win it.

It was fast paced and aggressive. Mirai was stiff as usual and it was a fun match, but did kind of drag in the 2nd half of it.

5*Star Grand Prix - Blue Stars - Hazuki vs Starlight Kid

They get off to a fast start and Kid kicks her hard in the knee. Kid splashes her arm then butt drops her knee. Hazuki rolls outside and gets her knee banged off the floor mat. Kid kicks around Hazuki then knee dropkicks her. Hazuki then running facewash kicks her. Hazuki hits a full nelson slam and a senton then crossfaces her.

Kid comes back with a flying forearm then 619's her. Kid then hits a standing moonsault for 2. They trade forearms then Kid knocks her down with one. Hazuki throws her off the top rope then Kid spinning neckbreakers her. Kid hits a 180 frogsplash. Kid gets stuck on the 2nd rope then Hazuki codebreakers her. Hazuki hits a top rope senton for 2 then Kid rolls her up.

Hazuki michinoku drivers her and then Kid hits a dragon screw into a stretch muffler variation. Hazuki pump kicks her then brainbusters her the win.

It was fine action wise and fast paced, but there wasn't much story to it or anything else.

5*Star Grand Prix - Blue Stars - Saya Kamitani vs Momo Watanabe

They matwrestle to start and Momo kicks her. Saya does a corkscrew into backflips and Momo dropkicks her. Saya is thrown out and beat up by Oedo Tai. Momo pushes her around back inside then Saya hits a nice dropkick on her. Momo running kicks her from the apron as she is on the floor then Saya hits a nasty poisonrana on her on the floor. Saya then springboard splashes her outside. Saya slingshot splashes her for 2. Saya gets kicked as she is up top.

Momo top rope uranage's her then running double knees her in the back. Momo goes to uranage her and Saya back rolls into a crab. Saya spinning heel kicks her and Momo rolls her into a chickenwing. Saya ropebreaks and takes a peach sunrise for 2. Momo hits a cradle tombstone and tiger suplexes her for 2. Saya hits a weird bomb manuever and flips out of a top rope german. Momo puts Saya's foot into the ref right in front of him then Saya rolls her into a suplex for 2. They trade a high kick for a spinning high kick and Saya wins it with a 450.

There wasn't any great story to it and Saya tried to sell it as a revenge match after, but they really didn't work it like that. It was mostly an action based match and it was okay as that but there's nothing too special about those to me.

Overall thoughts: What I saw was mostly good overall. Nothing great or must see and while the matches did have issues, they had some positives to them as well. There was a lot of stiff, fast paced and aggressive wrestling all night.
