New Japan Pro Wrestling 8/10/2022 G1 Climax 32 Day 15

I'm only covering the G1 matches:

G1 Climax 32 Block D Match - El Phantasmo vs David Finlay

DF bow and arrows him early and then they trade hammerlock and wristlocks. DF goes through the ropes, gets him tied up and kicks the ropes. ELP shoulders him over then does a hurricanrana. They try some pin attempts and trade forearms. DF dropkicks him and gets tope'd outside.

DF has his head banged off the apron then ELP asai moonsaults him outside. ELP then springboard swantons him for 2. ELP then 2nd rope forearms him for 2. ELp is lariated over the top then plancha'd on. DF exploders him then ELP rolls him up and springboard twisting crossbodies him into an asai moonsault. DF uranage backbreakers him then does a blue thunder for 2.

DF sliced bread #2's him and goes up top. ELP hits a run up the ropes enzugiri then top rope hurricanrana's him. ELP then top rope springboards him for 2. They reverse some moves then ELP wins it.

This was a fun match with the two matching up well together, not overdoing it and doing some athletic stuff. 

G1 Climax 32 Block B Match - Tama Tonga vs Great O'Khan

Tama hits an armdrag early and works a wristlock. Khan throws him off the 2nd rope and throws him into the rails outside. Khan slams him for 2 then sits on his head in the corner. Khan tries to make Tama kiss his boot and Tama hulks up with punches. Tama then lariats him and hits a dropkick. He takes his vest off and corner splashes him for 2.

Khan goes for the claw then snap suplexes him. Khan bangs his head off the buckle then Tama does it to him. Khan gives him another and pump kicks him but takes an enzugiri back. Khan then shoulder throws him in mid-air.

They trade forearms and Khan mongolian chops him. Tama hits a death valley driver and top rope splashes him for 2. Khan buts him over his back with a claw, spins him and drops him. Khan then puts him in the sheepkiller. Khan lifts him up and takes a stunner for the win.

The ending was a little anti-climatic but it was a solid match otherwise with Tama being a good face and Khan being a good heel.

G1 Climax 32 Block C Match - EVIL vs Zack Sabre Jr.

"Zack" comes out and Evil and Togo go after him on the ramp. It turns out to be Kosei Fujita and thye beat him up. Togo goes through the entrance and runs into Zack. Zack grabs his arm and chokes Evil at the same time. Evil then is pushed into the rails where the ring announcer sits.

The match officially starts and Evil goes into an exposed buckle. Zack euros him, Togo grabs his leg and the ref is pushed into Zack. Zack blows a low blow and rolls him up for the quick win.

This was super short and with Evil, that's a good thing. This was the most interesting thing Evil has been in for a while.

G1 Climax 32 Block A Match - Kazuchika Okada vs Tom Lawlor

Not much happens early and Tom fujiwara armbars him until he ropebreaks. They go outside and Tom bangs his arm off the apron and post. Tom stands on the hand then takes a flapjack. Okada running back elbows him then ddt's him. Tom sits on the top and is dropkicked to the floor. Outside, Okada face kicks him over the rail. Tom the gains control by putting his arm around the rail and kicking it.  Tom then triangles him and Okada ropebreaks.

Tom spinning heel kicks him then Okada hits a big dropkick. Tom enzugiri's him then takes a shotgun dropkick into the buckles. Okada neckbreakers him over the knee. Tom turns Okada's top rope elbow into an armbar attempt and Okadas ropebreaks at 10 minutes. Tom continues the work on the arm then hits him with forearms with his arm tied up. Tom single arm ddt's him off the ropes then double reverse armbars both arms. Okada sit out drivers him and slips on a rainmaker attempt due to an injured arm.

Tom lifts him for a uranage then hits some knees while holding both arms. Tom does a complicated backdrop with some various body parts hooked and Okada rolls him up for 2. Tom running kicks his arm and is bodyscissoring him then Okada flips him over his back and wins it.

This was a pretty good match with Tom sticking to the ddt work and Okada trying to get out of it and survive.

G1 Climax 32 Block C Match - Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Hirooki Goto

They work a side headlock early. Goto hits some shoulders. Tana hits a twisting crossbody off the 2nd rope. Tana goes over the top rope but hangs on to skin the cat and is hit while he hangs. Tana dropkicks him in the knee. Tana kicks the knee more then takes a spinning clothesline. Goto spinning heel kicks him in the corner then bulldogs him for 2. Tana reverse sling blades him and inverted dragon screws him. Tana texas cloverleafs him.

They go up top and Tana superplexes him. Goto goes for an armbar. Goto neckbreakers him over the knee then drops him with a forearm. They trade forearms then Goto headbutts him before taking a slap. Tana then falls on him and lowblows him with his head on accident. Tana then slingblades him for 2. Tana then top rope crossbodies him.

Tana misses a top rope frogsplash then Goto russian legsweeps him into la escalera and tries to pin him. Tana is bridged on the 2nd rope then Goto elbow clies him as his mouth is all bloody. Goto chest kicks him and is rolled up for 2. Tana hits some twists and shouts then Goto turns one of those into a pendulum side slam. Goto then GTR's him and wins it.

Well, it was nice to see Goto win for a change. There wasn't a great story here or anything but it was decent wrestling. Goto also bled a lot from the mouth here which was cool.

Overall thoughts: Pretty good day at the G1 with 4 of the 5 being good and Evil's match being super short.
