WWE NXT 2.0 7/5/2022

WWE NXT 2.0 7/5/2022

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/06/wwe-nxt-20-6282022.html

We have a BBQ going for the Great American Bash. Jiro is chugging, Briggs and Jensen are cooking and Sloane Jacobs is in a bikini. Jensen is losing his mind over Arianna and Sloane in the pool and Indi is playing firsbiee with Nikkita Lyons. Quincy Elliot argues with them and Enofe chases after a girl. Duke Hudson tries to show off to Feroz and her partner. Sanga then says he has an announcement and yells "cannonball", then does it on Duke. Duke and Sanga argue in the pool then splash each other. Jensen then causes a fire after putting too much lighter fluid on the grill.

We have a picnic table, a grill and a bench set up near the stage.

WWE NXT Women's Tag Team Titles - Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne) vs Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade

Jacy and Cora go at it early and Cora snapmares her into a basement dropkick. Perez is whipped into the corner into a Jacy punch. We go to PiP break with Jacy cannonballing Perez and Jacy sentons her. We return from break and Jacy grabs a roll up on Gigi. Gigi hits kawada kicks on Perez then stretches her.

Jacy and Perez pump kick each other at the same time. Cora comes in and flurry forearms Gigi then headsissors her. Gigi hits a hard forearm then they do a 2nd rope dropkick into a russian legsweep on Jacy. Mandy pulls the ref out and is kicked out and Cora tries to roll Jacy up off of it. Jacy neckbreakers Perez then Gigi hits a nice STO on Perez.

Cora runs at Jacy on the ropes and pushes her out then Perez hits a code red on Gigi and wins it.

The ending was out of nowhere. The idea and match structure was okay but they had some sloppy points to it and it wasn't great or anything. I didn't think TA should have lost the titles here as there wasn't a lot of build and Chance/Carter were the better option.

Bron is headed into the arena.

We cut to the back with the D'Angelo Family. Tony said he handled Santos last night. He said he would walk out with the championship or else and showed photos of Santos in the hospital. Tony said Elektra has only been the one putting in work for the family then called Wilde/Del Toro clowns. He said they have until next week to do something or they are done. Kind of seems like this could be the end of LdF in NXT.

We get a Pretty Deadly promo. They said Essex is the fashion capital of the world which is where they are from. They said they wouldn't be caught drinking beer. They said beer makes them think of the gross rednecks, Briggs and Jensen. Prince says they will take them behind the barn and give them a beat down soon.

Wes Lee vs Trick Williams

Trick had a boxing robe, gloves and taped fists for some reason. Apparently, he was doing a Muhammad Ali tribute. Trick did a nice throw on Wes to start then Wes legswept him and bulldogged him. Trick then gave himself water in the corner. The two missed spin kicks then Wes dropkicked him. Trick hit a nice pumphandle slam for 2.

Wes hit kicks on Trick then double stomped his back. Wes then did a nice koppo kick. Trick washed his hands with some substance and threw the bottle at the announcers. Trick then started rubbing his hands in Lee's eyes. Trick then missed a spin kick on him to win and the announcers said Trick had rubbing alcohol.

The finish was pretty lame here and this was a short one.

Tiffany Stratton vs Wendy Choo

Tiffany Stratton yells at the make-up artist then Wendy Choo came in and threw powder at her. Wendy then pushed her into the door. We went to PiP break but it continued and Tiff beat her with something. Tiff was then sent into sandbags or something. Wendy put her in a wheel chair and pushed her into chairs. Wendy sat on a throne and Tiff was pushed into a garage door. Tiff then crawled to the stage. Wendy then beat her up on the picnic table and hit her with a bowl of chips.

We finally returned and Wendy and Tiff are in the ring. Wendy hits a Thesz press. Tiff wraps her arm around the rope and pulls on it. Wendy sunset flips her and Tiff rolls through with a double stomp. Tiff works her fingers then Wendy hit an overhead belly to belly. Tiff pops her up into a powerbomb. Wendy then full nelson bombs her for 2.

Wendy hits a stiff brainbuster on her then Tiff does a nice flip out of a german. Tiff dropkicks her then does her corkscrew vader bomb for the win.

This was fine. They didn't have a ton of time for this but they hit some stiff moves and it was far better than I expected. I think they also had a call back to Mei Ying here when they were on the throne.

Roxanne and Cora are interviewed. Cora said she finally did it with her best friend. Roxanne said this is surreal and everything is happening so fast. She said she couldn't believe it. Roxanne says she is cashing in her breakout contract next week against Mandy to finish them.

Bron is seen working out. Cameron Grimes goes up to him and asks how his shoulder is. He said he will do whatever it takes to become champ.

Apollo Crews is headed to the ring. He talks about his kids and says this place is diferent than before. He said he thought about what would happen if he fought some of NXT's best. He said he and Grimes would make magic together in the ring Giovanni Vinci then appeared. He said he noticed Crews didn't name drop him in his list of wrestlers he wants to face. He said he is the one guy in NXT that can keep up with him and outperform him. He says he will do it in style. Crews challenges him to a match right now. Vinci said he is dressed for a night out and says he can find out next week who the best man in NXT is. He said he will lose to Giovanni Vinci and he will have 7 days to come up with an excuse to tell his kids about why he lost.

Ivy Nile is interviewed by McKenzie. She is asked if this is the implosion of Diamond Mine. She said we find out who the best tag team is tonight and they mean it when they say Diamond Mine is forever. Tatum Paxley is seen arguing with Chance/Carter and thanks her for breaking it up. Ivy tells her to come to the dojo tomorrow.

Grayson Waller says he loved the Melo autographs he got last week and will steal the N-A title tonight.

Melo said they used to be boys and when you play Melo, you play yourself. He said Waller is common and he's special.

We get another promo from JD McDonagh. He is doing yoga with a mask on. He says he is so far ahead of the rest of the roster and said NXT 2.0 changes next week with him.

Bron has his shoulder worked on in the back and doesn't want a bandage.

WWE NXT North American Title - Carmelo Hayes (c) vs Grayson Waller

Melo got a nice entrance with red, white and blue and some sparklers.

They hit each other at the same time early and they do an athletic counter before a Melo lariat. GW slides out and rolls in for his cutter but Melo stops it. GW hits a nice forearm and drops him. GW then is enzugiri'd on the ropes and Melo does his blind springboard legdrop onto GW, who was hanging on the ropes.

GW does a neat electric chair into a german then GW slides out and lariats Melo. GW rips up a sign during the break. We return and GW foot slaps him and gets his face shoved. GW hits some punches on him in the triangle then hits a nice leg lariat. They trade forearms then Melo hits slaps. Melo then twisting springboard crossbodies GW. GW then flips over his back with an unprettier.

Melo pump kicks him then they roll into a GW stunner. GW goes for his roll into the ring stunner but Trick blocks the way. Wes Lee comes out of nowhere and nails Trick then GW rolls into a codebreaker. Melo then hits the top rope legdrop and wins it.

This was a decent to good match. I thought it was neat how they squeezed in the Wes/Trick stuff. I felt they got the winner right here as Melo shouldn't have lost and they did match up well as expected.

They had a QR code to scan. I scanned it and it said 8:10:11. No idea what that means.

Xyon Quinn is interviewed. He said he is box office and said he is a future, multiple time champion. He said the future of NXT is Xyon Quinn.

Diamond Mine is in a circle in the back and they yell Diamond Mine Forever. Roderick Strong walks out of it though and doesn't really join in.

Mandy does a promo. She said Perez and Jade got lucky tonight. She said when the adrenaline of Perez's win wears off, she will realize she made a big mistake and can't beat her for the title.

We then go to Chase U. Andre talks about the 4th of July and Bodhi is falling asleep. Bodhi says Thea Hail doesn't sleep. Thea says they are like brother and sister. Chad in the back then tells Chase than according to history, our independence day should be on July 2nd. Chase yells at him and tells him to get out and not call back. Thea suggests a field trip to England and Chase says, "London, here we come". Sounds like Chase U is headed to NXT UK.

WWE NXT Tag Titles - The Creed Brothers vs Damon Kemp and Roderick Strong

Strong and Brutus start off. Strong flies at him and bounces right off. Julius gets in and headlock suplexes Kemp. Kemp then german suplexes him and pounds on him. Julius makes a tag with Kemp on his back then gutwrenches Brutus. Kemp takes fireman's carries from the Creeds then is back body dropped. Julius hits a nice dropkick on him to send him out and Strong throws him back in.

Kemp gets tossed out again and Brutus cannonballs him off the top. During the PiP break, Kemp hit a nice northern lights suplex on Julius and then slaps on a headlock. We return from break and Julius and Strong trade shots. Julius gutwrenches Kemp. Brutus mounts and pounds Kemp and Brutus does a random moonsault for a pose. Strong slaps Julius and gets him mad then jumping knees Brutus twice.

Kemp headlocks Brutus then Kemp exploder suplexes him. Kemp slingshots Brutus. Brutus sidesteps Kemp and he goes into the buckles. Julius gets in and slams Strong then release germans him. Julius then hits a nice release belly to belly. Julius pounds on him then slams him down.

Julius then does the same to Kemp and hits a diving lariat for the win.

This was a solid match as expected. I was surprised the Creed's won here but it could have gone either way. The four matched up well and it was cool to see the Brutus cannonball again.

Kemp gets helped up by the Creed's after then Strong stares them down as they pose. Strong is not happy but nothing happens.

We see someone working on math equations and talking about being smart. He says he has a gift for mathematics and says there is a solution to every problem. He then says he is Axiom and it seems like it is A-Kid.

We get a package on Grimes vs Bron Breakker.

The Robert Stone Brand is interviewed. Stone says it's a travesty that Von isn't on this show. Solo Sikoa steps in and says he isn't making excuses for not being on the show. Von mocks him saying he is a street champ and Von says we can handle business right now. Von challenges him to take a shot and it is broke up with Norman Smiley getting involved.

WWE NXT Title - Bron Breakker (c) vs Cameron Grimes

Bron is wearing an american flag singlet like his dad wore. Grimes' song was remixed with a singer with a stronger accent.

They fight over an armlock early. Bron gator rolls Grimes into a suplex attempt that Grimes rolls out of. Bron hits a stiff steinerline and we go to PiP break. Grimes continues with the armlock on Bron. We return and Bron suplexes him.

Grimes escapes his gorilla press and throws him out. Grimes then cannonballs him off the apron. Grimes kicks him in the arm and continues to stretch it. Bron spinebusters Grimes and they trade gforearms. Bron flying shoulders him and hits a nice powerslam.

Grimes superkicks Bron and reverses his crossbody in mid-air with a spanish fly. Bron hurricanrana's Grimes off the top for 2. Grimes hits an octopus stretch then Grimes hits an M. Bison stomp for 2. Grimes comes off the 2nd rope and takes a spear for the Bron win.

This was good with Grimes targeting the shoulder area and Bron having to fight back. The finish was really cool here and it was a smart match.

JD McDonagh attacks Bron after and backdrops him onto a picnic table. JD then says the necessary evil is here as Bron has hot dog buns on his shoulder.

Overall thoughts: It was a good show with 4 of the 6 matches being solid to good. The main and semi-main both delivered as well.
