Game Changer Wrestling 7/4/2022 Backyard Wrestling 4

Game Changer Wrestling 7/4/2022 Backyard Wrestling 4

This is GCW's Backyard Wrestling IV. They had a show in someone's backyard a while ago. It was creative and quite a big hit and now it is a regular show. This show is in someone's backyard, but their backyard is a farm and there's not as much stuff to play with like in previous editions. The star power on this is significantly lacking compared to prior versions.

I watched this live, but I wasn't keeping full track of the matches. I had to re-watch some of this and just provided what I did see from the rest.

A trampoline was set up near the ring here.

Jordan Oliver vs Hunter Drake

Hunter backlfips and armdrags out of an armlock early. They counter over snapmares and Jordan flips him with both arms. Drake backfolls him into a headscissors. Jordan headflips out of an armlock and armdrags him then Jordan get sout of a roll-up and rolls out. Drake goes for a 2nd rope hurricanrana but Jordan cartwheels out of it. Drake then tope con hilos him and does a double springboard crossbody for 2.

Jordan does a slingshot into a cutter and facekicks him for 2. Jordan grabs his arm and leg and pulls on them and cranks back. Oliver jumps backwards off the 2nd rope and is rolled up. Jordan tries to suplex him over the top then Drake hangs on and they both go out.

They trade chops then Drake goes up and over and backstabbers him. He then running blockbusters him. Drake goes up top and takes a while belly to belly off there then a spinning lariat and an exploder. Drake then immediately recovers with a canadian destroyer that isn't sold then takes a meteora. Drake double stomps his back.

They trade shots and superkick each other which neither sells then Jordan takes a poisonrana. Drake botches a double jump over then takes a cody cutter. Drake then ligerbombs him for the win.

They did way too much here with no selling whatsoever. They matched up well though and had they cut half this match off, it would have been decent. Drake also is Marko Stunt sized levels of small and is hard to buy as believeable.

Alec Smith vs The Chad vs Aerial Crow vs Vampyro

This was very indy, but this was more of the spirit of what a backyard show was supposed to be. They had indy style gimmicks on purpose and they had a very indy match with flips and usage of various things outside. From a logic or believeability perspective it wasn't good, but this hit the idea of this backyard wrestling show right on the head and I enjoyed it for what it was.

Dak the Destroyer vs Pizza Cat Jr.

This was intergender comedy. It wasn't real believeable or anything, but it did have some entertainment to it. I didn't love it, but they kept it short and had a few highlights without making too many major mistakes. They did a duel with sparklers and Dark ended up getting hit with it. Dark took a beer break at one point and Cat jumped off a trampoline onto a hurricanrana on him. Dak was held up so fans could chop him then Cat had a beer thrown at her. Cat had a frozen tombstone pizza with her, which was brought in and which she was tombstone'd on. She didn't sell it though and hit him with it. Dak then got german suplexed on poppers and hit with them. Dak hit a canadian destroyer then 450'd her for the win.

Drunk Uncles (1 Called Manders, Alex Colon, Mayday Jack & Tony Deppen) vs. Team Yoya (Cambodian Dragon (Yoya), Hello Hardbody, Mike Jannetty (Mike Swanson) & Tarzanian Devil)

I wasn't a fan of this. I really didn't know most of the people in it and they didn't do a good job of explaining who was who. It ran too long and just wasn't the right match here. Some kind of scramble where they did big dives and stuff probably would have been better.

Diablo vs Fourth Of July Blunt Guy

Blunt offers up a blunt to Diablo then Diablo goes over the top rope. Blunt dropkicks him then gets his dive blocked with some kind of sparkler. He then dives on him again and overshoots as both guys go rolling. Blunt is thrown into a cement wall. Diablo hits him with a rock then a aluminum pan. Blunt then is thrown into a non-used fire pit.

Diablo does a flipping slam on trampoline. Diablo goes up top and Blunt uses the trampoline to jump up and stop him. Blunt then superplexes Diablo off the top and Diablo holds on then suplexes him onto the trampoline. Diablo hits him with a pan then snapmares him into a hole. Diablo then suplexes him on tent poles. Blunt is whipped into the cement wall.

Blunt then shining wizards him. Diablo allows fans to and other wrestlers to chop Blunt then he powerbombs him on gravel...for 2. Diablo puts fireworks up Blunt's butt. They set up a door bridged on chairs then fight on top of a truck. Diablo gorilla presses him and throws him off through the door and wins it.

It went too long with Diablo never really being in danger. This should have just been an easy squash.

Joey Janela vs Donnie Janela

What I did see of this was total crap. Joey was in the pool when this started and had to hurry up and get dressed. We saw his butt at one point then he took a kid's car and rode over Donnie's fingers with it. There was lots of bad dancing and time wasting here as well. This also went on forever like most Joey matches do.

Emamon (Jimmy Lloyd) vs Darc Angel

They reverse out of stuff early then Angel poisonrana's him. Angel then dives on him then topes him into a ddt on rocks. Angel stabs him with a fork, then a bigger fork. Angel finds an even bigger fork but Jimmy throws a fold-up chair at him and then stabs him with the fork. Jimmy hits him with a lid then spits water at him. Jimmy chairs him in the gut then puts the chair around Angel's head and rams it into the trampoline.

Angel jumps off the trampoline and goes into a 2nd rope moonsault from the ring nearby. Jimmy gets rammed into the truck then Angel gets his sliced bread off the truck countered into a tombstone. Jimmy puts a gusset plate into Angel's back. Jimmy then throws darts at his back. Angel comes back with a dragon suplex then puts a syringe in Jimmy's cheek. Angel cutters him.

Lloyd gets a gusset plate put in his head then Angel flipping forward dragon sleeper drivers him. Angel gets stuck on the top rope and takes a fire hunder driver off of it. A trash can is stood upside down then Jimmy is powerbombed on it. Angel then does the coast to coast springboard dropkick with the trash can against Jimmy.

A door is bridged over chairs and then has lighter fluid sprayed on it. The ref lights it on fire then Jimmy hits a version of the rubik's cube/electric chair driver and wins it.

It was long, indy garbage. They did too much without selling much and they kicked out of all kinds of things that weren't needed. It also not clear why this was the main event when neither guy is a main eventer guy.

Overall thoughts: It was a disappointing edition of Backyard Wrestling. It was more of a show that took place in the backyard than a backyard wrestling show. The card was bad even by GCW's standards and they really did not make the most out of the concept.
