WWE NXT 2.0 6/7/2022

WWE NXT 2.0 6/7/2022

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/05/wwe-nxt-20-5312022.html

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams came out. Hayes said Grimes gave him a good challenge, but the goal was to make him champ and he accomplished that. He said he doesn't chase dreams, dreams chase Melo. He insulted the crowd, said he had right now and then Solo Sikoa came out. He said congrats and the crowd chanted, "you got next" at him.

Solo said he had next and then came in the ring. Trick said that agreement was between him and Grimes and it is no longer relevant. Melo said he bet on the wrong one, as he should have said that to him instead of Grimes. Solo said he has his number then Grayson Waller came out. He asked who Solo thought he was. He said Solo isn't famous enough to have Melo's number, and if he did, he's getting left on voicemail.

Waller said Solo doesn't get oppurtunities because he wants one or because he is related to people. Solo told him to shut up. He said he thinks Waller wants to fight, then he nailed Melo, Trick and Waller. The three beat him up and Waller ddt'd him. The refs then broke it up.

We got a video package on Von Wagner vs Josh Briggs for tonight. We saw the history of their feud.

We saw Tony D arriving with LdF waiting for him. Tony made Santos open his car door and we saw Cruz Del Toro driving him. Tony asked him if they took care of some things they needed done. Tony said it's time Santos got out of his suit because he has a match tonight. Santos was angry.

Josh Briggs vs Von Wagner

Brooks Jensen and Fallon Henley are with Briggs. Stone and Cromwell are with Von.

They traded punches to start and Briggs shouldered him over. He then slid out and punched him. Von hit a big face kick on him. Briggs came back with punches that totally missed then he got olympic slammed. Briggs then gave him a big boot. They went outside and Briggs got his back rammed into the apron and Von took Jensen's injured harm and banged it off the apron. Henley got on the apron to distract the ref, Briggs hit Von with Jensen's cast then Briggs picked up the win with a lariat.

I thought the ending was creative. I think it does hurt Von losing, but Briggs is the better of the two right now and this gives the feud more to work with.

Solo was getting ice on his shoulder and was interviewed. He said he wants Waller and Melo tonight. He was asked if he wanted a handicap match and he said if someone wants to come help they are welcome. He said he would lay both of them out tonight.

Chase U gave a scholarship to Thea Hail. She said she is excited to be here and asked for a photo to be taken. Pretty Deadly then walked in. They called it pathetic. Bodhi said they are right, the picture does need more fashion sense. He told them to grab their tag titles, then reminded them they lost it. PD then told Chase to watch his back. They then took the picture.

Nathan Frazer vs Santos Escobar

Tony's crew and LdF were out there. Tony joined the commentators.

They messed up a monkey flip to start. Tony yelled saying the match was boring. Frazer hit a headscissors on Santos. Santos turned his back on NF then took a missile dropkick from the top. Tony yelled at Santos to get back in when he was outside the ring. Santo enzugiri'd NF when he was on the apron then Santos hit a nice tope on him. Tony yelled at Santos to tell him to get that move out of his repetoire as "nobody likes that".

We went to PiP break and returned with NF hitting punches. Santos then tilt-a-whirl backbreakered him. Santos put him in the surboard then boston crabbed him. Santos argued with Tony then NF rolled him up and hit a flying forearm. NF hit an asai moonsault into a slice on him then running SSP'd him for 2. NF missed a corkscrew moonsault then took a pumping knee. Santos jumping kicked him and Two Dimes threw a crowbar in for Escobar. Escobar threw it back. NF then kicked Santos and hit a top rope firebird splash to win. Tony yelled, "nice job, moron" after.

It was an athletic match. The story was interesting here with Santos turning down the help and Tony yelling at Santos all match long.

Xyon Quinn was interviewed. He said Frazer and Wes Lee were the same and implied they were both lucky. Xyon said he dominated against Wes Lee and said Wes' victory was just luck. He said he would make Wes Lee unconscious.

Bron Breakker came out. He said Gacy challenged him mentally and physically. He said NXT is special and said everyone want a chance at his title. He asked who would step up to the challenge. Apollo Crews then came out. Crews said he missed the energy. Crew says he is one of the best athletes in NXT. He said he left NXT too soon and said he is back to change and make history. He said he wants to make history with him someday and said he'd see him down the road.

We got a video package on Tiffany Stratton vs Roxanne Perez.

Joey Gacy and his druids did a taped video. Gacy said there's people in this world who need guidance. He said their message was more important than symbols and things. He said they are, "The Diad" and said they will continue to be an extension of him. He said they will compete in the ring next week.

NXT Women's Breakout Tournament Finals - Tiffany Stratton vs Roxanne Perez

Tiff pushes her down early and Tiff backflipped out of a leg sweep attempt. Roxanne hit a back roll into a headscissors but Tiff headflipped out. Perez then hit a shotgun dropkick on her. Tiff armlocked her and twisted her fingers. Tiff got arm flipped then had a slam countered. Perez then walked up the ropes with her arm and took a hard arm ringer down.

We went to break and returned with Tiff hitting a fujiwara armbar on her. Tiff lost  hair extension then standing moonsaulted her arm. Tiff then hit a nice cartwheel backflip elbow. Tiff did a small meteora type of double stomp then Perez hit a Thesz press off the 2nd rope on her. Perez then tope'd her. Perez hit her weird standing moonsault then Tiff hit a nice sitout powerbomb for 2.

Tiff did a triple jump moonsault and Perez was supposed to move but took almost all of it. Perez then hit a code red and won it.

This was about as good as it gets for the NXT women. They were very athletic and did stuff you don't really even see on the main roster. This was Tiff's best match yet and was a good one.

Cora Jade celebrates with Perez then Toxic Attraction comes out. Mandy said she should be proud of herself and said her work paid off. Mandy said it would be all downhill from here though if she cashed in her title shot on her. Mandy said something to Cora then Perez decked Mandy and all 5 girls fought. Indi Hartwell then joined in and T-A was cleared off.

We went to the back and Bodhi Hayward was down with injured ribs. Bodhi said Pretty Deadly attacked him. Chase said he can't let him compete.

Wendy Choo was interviewed. Tiffany Stratton ran in and said Perez cheated. Tiff wouldn't let her talk so Choo threw a drink at her.

Pretty Deadly vs Andre Chase and Bodhi Hayward.

Chase decks Elton and Thesz presses him. Chase lariated Kit over the top to the floor then got tripped by him. Elton elbowed Chase and Kit beat up on Chase. Chase was thrown into double knees then Bodhi Hayward was crawling down. Thea Hail said she would take care of it and got on the apron.

Thea slapped Elton. Chase hit Kit with a russian leg sweep and the C-H-A-S-E-U stomps. PD did a blind tag then Kit held up Chase for an Elton neckbreaker for the PD win.

Moe of an angle than a match really. The match had the right formula and it made sense before the finish.

Trick and Melo run into Tony's crew in the back. Tony said Melo wasn't the only one with a victory. Tony told him to fall in line with the Don. Trick said Tony may be the Don of NXT, but he is the Sun of NXT. Melo turned down fighting him. Tony then warned him to stay out of his way or else he'd make him pay.

Alba Fyre vs Tatum Paxley

They brought up Tatum and Lash arguing at In Your House. Tatum firemans carried her then hit la magistral. Alba grabbed Tatum's leg and she flipped off of it. Tatum tried it again and took a knee to the mouth. Alba chest slapped her then hit a gordbuster. Alba then hit a gori bomb and a far senton to win it.

This was a short one and Tatum didn't get to do much here.

Lash Legend attacked Alba after.

We then went to the Diamond Mine dojo. Strong said we are all alpha's. Strong said the Creed's rose to the occasion and dominated. He congratulated them and they did a group hug. Enofe and Malik Blade followed. They said they wanted a tag title shot. They teased fighting them but were joking and gave them a tag title match next week. Roderick Strong was mad and said you don't give out title shots, you make them earn it. Strong then said they made some mistakes in their title match that could have cost them the titles. Strong said he would give them one mistake as champions, and they just made it.

We got another promo on Giovanni Vinci. He said it is time to show the world who he is and says NXT will never be the same. We then saw that he is the former Fabian Aichner.

Solo said he found someone who he said wanted to kick their butts too and brought out Apollo Crews.

Solo Sikoa and Apollo Crews vs Carmelo Hayes and Grayson Waller

Trick gets thrown out to start then the heels are lariated over the top. Solo slams Waller into a Crews slingshot sentson. Crews delay suplexes Waller. Solo gets in and jumping headbutts Waller. Melo hits a beautiful christo on Crews. Waller stomps on Crews and suplexes him.

Melo does a nice flip over Crews' back and gets enzugiri'd. Solo gets in and beats up on Waller, who also gets in. Solo running hip attacks Waller then Crews plancha's both opponents. We go to PiP break and return.

Melo gets inadvertenly tagged in and flipped, which he takes a nice bump for. Trick got hit on the apron by Solo then Melo did a twisting crossbody on Solo. Waller hits a 2nd rope froggy bow on Solo. Waller hits some foot slaps on Solo then Crews gets a hot tag in. Crews german suplexes waller around then Melo does a great sell for a german.

Crews hits a jumping lariat on Waller then standing moonsaults him. Solo and Melo go over the top on a lariat. Waller goes for his roll into a cutter but gets a liger bomb from Crews for the Crews/Solo win.

I thought this was a decent main event with some good highlights here. Melo did a great job in this one with his selling. Waller was fun as usual and Crews felt inspired here.

Overall thoughts: We had at least 3 decent matches here with Tiff/Perez being good. This was a good episode of NXT.
