All Japan Pro Wrestling 4/15/2022 Champion Carnival 2022 Day 5

Champion Carnival 2022 Block A - Ryuki Honda vs Shigehiro Irie

They forearm each other from the start then shoulder battle. Honda shoulders him over then Irie hits a back elbow, slam and rope rebound splash for 2. Honda throws him into the post and they bang each others heads off the ramp. They trade forearms and eye rake each other. Irie then suplexes him. Honda rushes at Irie in the corner and Irie lifts up and butt drops him. Irie then cannonballs him off the apron.

Irie top rope splashes Honda then Honda comes back with a spinebuster. Honda suplexes him for 2 and does something like a camel clutch but Irie ropebreaks. Honda corner lariats him then takes a big backdrop. Irie goes for a cannonball against the ropes but misses then Honda spears him. Honda hits a big lariat for 2. Honda takes a smaller lariat then gives him another bigger one.

They collide with lariats and Irie hits headbutts for 2. Irie then battering ram headbutts him in the chest and wins it.

It was okay, but they only had 10 minutes and this was not a big feature match so they couldn't really go all out.

Champion Carnival 2022 Block B - Yuma Aoyagi vs Yoshitatsu

Yoshi immediately rolls out and I think gives a fan a towel. Yuma gives him a dropkick early and Yoshi goes into the post. Yuma then ties up Yoshi's tassle to the post. They fight near the post and Yoshi sends him into it.

Yoshi facewashes him then they trade forearms. Yoshi then neckbreakers him for 2. Yuma blocks Yoshi's PK and dragon screws him. Yoshi hits some chest kicks and perfectplexes him for 2. Yoshi then hits a tornado ddt.

Yuma rebound germans him then shotgun dropkicks him for 2. They trade forearms and Yoshi knees him to the gut. Yoshi then hits a brainbuster for 2. Yoshi goes for a codebreaker but Yuma holds on and rolls him into a pin. Yoshi then goes for a koji clutch but Yuma holds on and pins him during it to win.

It was okay. It wasn't anything great or special as it was a midcard match with only about 10 minutes. They didn't really do anything big but the pace was okay enough.

Champion Carnival 2022 Block A - Shotaro Ashino vs Shuji Ishikawa

Ashino goes face to face with him and takes him down early. Shuji forearms him and makes him stumble. They trade forearms and Ashino rolls out. They trade forearms outside and Ashino gets dropped. Ashino dragon screws Shuji's leg through the ropes then works on it.

Ashino STF's him and Shuji hits the ropes. He then moves over to a grounded stretch muffler and Shuji again rope breaks. Shuji 2nd rope double stomps him for 2 then Ashino slips him into an ankle lock. Ashino 2nd rope euro uppercuts him then running euros him for 2. Ashino germans him and hits more euro uppercuts. Shuji then fire thunder drivers him.

They trade euros for forearms. Both are on the ropes and Shuji runs then turns around suddenly and lariats him. Shuji then hits a running knee for 2. Ashino gets out of a sitout dominator then ankle locks him. Ashino germans him then takes a knee to the gut. Shuji v-triggers him then hits a stiff running knee to the chest for 2. Shuji then hits splash mountain and wins it.

It wasn't great or anything and they didn't go all out but it was okay. They did try in the limited time they had and the last part of the match was pretty good.

Champion Carnival 2022 Block B - Suwama vs Kuma Arashi

Kuma refuses the handshake early then takes a flying shoulder. They trade forearms then Suwama ddt's him. Suwama hits more forearms then Kuma puts him on the top rope. He then splashes him and they go outside and fight. Suwama hits some forearms inside then is clubbed down.

Kuma goes for a suplex and Suwama reverses it and gets one of his own. Suwama corner lariats him then belly to belly suplexes him for 2. Suwama sleepers him then Kuma racks him and samoan drops him. Kuma corner splashes him then stands on his gut.

They fight up top and Suwama superplexes him. Suwama then sleepers him and tries to pin him off it but gets 2. Suwama face kicks him then Kuma crossbodies him for 2. Kuma picks him up with a nice gutwrench but is backdropped then lariated for 2. Suwama then backdrops him again and wins it.

This was okay but far from either guys best work. The pace was pretty slow which brought it down.

Overall thoughts: As expected, it wasn't a great night of the CC. They just don't try or work as hard in a small place like Shin-Kiba.
