AEW Dynamite 4/6/2022

AEW Dynamite 4/6/2022

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/03/aew-dynamite-3302022.html

Adam Cole vs Christian Cage

Christian shoulders him down early and they get off to a slow start. Cole rolls out to stall then spits at him from the apron. Cage then clotheslines him on the floor. Back in and Cage gets stuck in tree of woe then stomped and superkicked. Cage then gets thrown into the steps as we go to PiP break.

Back from break and Cole was thrown over the top. Cage then jumped over the post onto him outside. Cole gets corner punches from Cage then Cage twisting sunset flips him for 2 from the buckles. Cage tornado ddt's Cole for 2. Cage goes up to the 2nd buckle and Cole backcrackers him for 2. Cage hits a reverse ddt then misses a top rope frog splash. Cole then hits some superkicks and a boom knee to the front for 2.

Cage stands on Cole on the 2nd rope then tries for something off the 2nd buckle but gets superkicked. Cage then hurricanrana'd him off the top for 2. Cole hits a pump kick then is rolled up for 2 on the boom knee attempt. Cage then spears him for 2.

Cage is bleeding from the mouth. Cole pokes him in the eye and hits a boom knee to win it.

I didn't think this was anything special. They went real even with each other here and there wasn't too much of a story.

Fish and O'Reilly beat up Christian outside until Jurassic Express made the save. Adam Page comes out and Cole talks trash. Page shoves him in the face. Page challenged him to a texas death match for next week. Maybe this one will actually be a texas death match instead of a last man standing match.

We see clips from ROH's Supercard of Honor that was basically an AEW show.

The newly signed Samoa Joe comes out.

Owen Hart Tournament Qualifier - Samoa Joe vs Max Caster

This is Joe's AEW debut. Joe kind of headbutts him to start. Joe chops him, kicks him and drops an elbow then Max goes out. Joe suicide dives Max. Bowens distracts Joe then Max gets some shots in. Max backhands him then Joe runs him over. Joe then muscle busters him and wins it.

This was a quick squash as it probably should have been, though maybe someone else instead of Max could have done the job here.

Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt appeared on the screen. They said they respect Joe more than he respects them. Jay said he is going to say and do what he wants. Jay said Joe never answered his phone calls and said Joe only answers for billionaires. Jay calls him "The Samoan Golddigger". Jay said he was mad Joe didn't tell him he was coming. Jay then said he would have a present for Joe that he will never forget.

The Blackpool Combat club was interviewed. Regal called Danielson, "The Perfect Wrestler". He said Wheeler Yuta has impressed him and Bryan and now needs to impress Mox, who is the hardest to impress. Mox said bones would crack like thunder and it would rain blood.

Shawn Spears vs "Captain" Shawn Dean

I don't know why we have to watch this. Spears backbreakers him then throws him out. Spears hits some chops then does a nasty neckbreaker over the knee. We cut to the back and security is laid out by Wardlow. Wardlow throws security around for some easy assault charges and heads for MJF. The bigger security guards stop him and Dean wins with roll-up.

There wasn't much to this except the Wardlow stuff and Dean winning for some reason.

Best Friends are interviewed. Chuck wants to know whats up with Wheeler Yuta. Chuck says they can teach him to be the best wrestler. Trent says Yuta is a scumbag traitor and accuses him of turning his back on them. Trent pushes him and Yuta pushes back.

Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti come out with the stupid sign thing and we thankfully go to break.

We see clips of Eddie and friends vs the Jericho Appreciation Society in a hallway. Eddie throws a tv at them as they leave. Jake Hager then drives a getaway car for them.

Eddie, Santana and Ortiz come out. Eddie calls Jericho a two faced coward. He says he is attacking him and JAS on sight. He says he knows where Daniel Garcia lives. Santana calls them the Jericho B*tch Society. Ortiz asks them for a 6-man next week.

We see clips of Hook.

Jade Cargill and Mark Sterling are interviewed. She says she is here to introduce the "baddie section". She said she is tired of MMA rejects. She says Marina Shafir is "The Problem" but she is "The Problem Solver".

Shawn Spears and MJF were interviewed. MJF makes fun of Shawn Dean being a military guy and says he will give him a purple heart next week as he interviews him worse than a combat injury.

Tables Match - The Butcher and The Blade vs The Hardy's

Blade lariats Jeff early then Blade accidentally runs himself through a table. Butchers hits Matt with a chair. Matt lays Butcher on a table and Jeff gets tripped off the top by Blade. Blade neckbreakers Matt then Jeff takes a suplex/crossbody to go through it and be eliminated. The table doesn't break though and just flattens but it is counted anyway.

We go to PiP break and return with Matt hitting chairshots on Butcher. Matt then legdrops Butcher through a table off the top. He runs at Blade on the apron and ends up throwing himself through a table. Matt gets put over the guard rail and Matt gets 2v1'd. Matt then get suplexed off the rail onto the floor.

Jeff jumps off of Butcher's back and attacks Blade then evens things up. Jeff uses a ladder on his opponents then Blade is put on a table. Jeff climbs the ladder next to it and swantons Blade through it to win. Jeff was already eliminated though so it's not clear how he could win.

This was not any good at all and made no sense.

Andrade and the rest of AFO came out. Sting then followed and hit Private Party with bats. Andrade used Bunny as a shield and they backed up.

Jruassic Express and Christian were interviewed. Christian threw a water bottle. JB said things around here are determined by records and said Fish/O'Reilly weren't good enough for a title shot. JB offered to put up the titles in a match anyway next week.

Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm wwre interviewed. Tony said there is a chance they meet up in the Owen Hart Tournament. Jamie says she deserves to win it and Toni said it has only just begun.

Owen Hart Tournament Qualifier - Julia Hart vs Hikaru Shida

Hart kicks her in the back before she is really ready then chokes her with her jacket. The Varsity Blondes ask what she is doing and Hart tells them to get out. Hart gets put on the top rope and takes some knees. Shinda jumps off a chair outside and dropkicks her.

Back in and Hart ddt's her and pounds on her as we go to PiP break. Shida pounds on her as we return then Shida suplexes her. Shida deadlift superplexes her from the 2nd rope to the inside from the apron. Hart gouges Shida's eyes then bulldogs her for 2. Hart misses a dive off the top  then takes like a running elbow and a bad spinning knee. Shida then barely gets her up for a falcon arrow to win.

This wasn't anything too interesting.

Serena Deeb tries to jump her after but they stand off as Deeb holds a chair and Shida holds a kendo stick.

Swerve Strickland is interviewed. He was at The Grammy's last weekend. He said he wasn't happy about Starks and Hobbs attacking him, then they jumped him. Keith Lee tried ot make the save and they all went at it in the locker room. Hobbs got shouldered through the wall.

ROH/AAA Tag Titles - FTR vs The Young Bucks

Double titles are cool. Dax blows his nose on streamers that were there for the Bucks. ROH's Bobby Cruise is the ring announcer. The Bucks throw their jackets at FTR during intro's. Cash then throws his jacket at a Buck.

Not too much happens early. One of the Bucks throws his headband at Dax. Dax puts it in his pants and throws it at the other Buck. Members from both teams are knocked off the apron then hose people trip their opponents. Dax takes a double hiptoss into a double dropkick then Cash does as well. Cash comes back with a double lariat. The Bucks take double sharpshooters. The Bucks then hit double enzugiri's in the corner on Cash then a Buck elbow drops Cash off the 2nd rope.

We go to PiP break and return. Cash almost makes a hot tag but one of the Bucks superkicks Dax. One of the Bucks springboards and takes a Cash uppercut then Dax gets the hot tag in. Dax suplexes one Buck onto the other. Dax piledrivers a Buck for 2. A Buck is backdropped on the apron. Dax superplexes a Buck but Cash gets springboard hurricanrana'd.

The Bucks hit a bulldog/dropkick combo on Cash then one of them gets brainbustered on the floor by Dax. Cash hits a gori bomb on a Buck for 2. The Bucks block a big rig attempt and Cash takes a low blow. The Bucks then hit a big rig for 2. The Bucks hit more bang for your buck for 2.

Dax and a Buck fight over the belt outside then Cash gets hit with the belt for 2. The Bucks double superkick Dax and Cash takes a BTE trigger for 2, though the ref counted 3 anyway.

Dax hits a slingshot powerbomb then FTR hits a BTE Trigger on a Buck and kisses him. They then hit the big rig and win it.

There was some decent stuff here but Rick Knox botched the count and definitely counted a 3 when it should have been 2. I wouldn't say it was a classic or anything as there wasn't a lot of logic in it but it was good.

Overall thoughts: I only really liked the main. The Hardy's match was a total mess here and the rest wasn't anything special.
