WWE NXT Level Up 2/18/2022
This is the debut episode of Level Up. It replaces the old 205 Live, which had no 205lb weight limit and wasn't live. We have a new color theme.
Gacy said anyone here is welcome and they will solve disputes with conflict here. Gacy said Harland welcomes his opponent tonight.
Harland (w/Joe Gacy) vs. Javier Bernal
Harland hits him in the gut and throws him. He bangs JB's head off the mat multiple times and splashes his back. Harland grabs him by the head and JB tries to kick him. JB hits some forearms and a dropkick but his crossbody is stopped with a gut punch. Harland delay backdrops him and in the same motion, slam him into the mat for the win.
This was a 90 second squash with Harland going over strong and looking good.
Fallon Henley & Kayla Inlay vs. Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley (w/Malcolm Bivens)
They did an interview this week that made it sound like Tatum is a Diamond Mine member. Kayla hits some punches to Ivy early then her and heart partner double dropkick Ivy. Fallon does a nice up and over in the corner, rolls through and takes down.
Tatum breaks up a pin attempt on Ivy and bangs Fallon's head off the mat. Ivy suplexes Fallon then Tatum standing twisting moonsaults her in a great move that I don't know that I've seen done before. Ivy hits a nice wheelbarrow style german suplex for 2. The crowd chants "suplex city" and Ivy headscissors her. Ivy then does push-ups while doing it.
Kayla hits clotheslines on Ivy and slams her. Kayla spears her in the corner then backflips and does it again. She then sideslams her for 2.
Fallon and Tatum go outside and Ivy does a neat behind the back dragon sleeper for a quick win.
The crowd loved this and this was a quick but fun match with the New Diamond Mine girls looking good.
Kushida (w/Ikemen Jiro) vs. Edris Enofe (w/Malik Blade)
Kushida does a nice leg trip and has control on the mat on him. Enofe headstands out of a headscissors. Kushida flying headscissors Enofe and hammerlocks him, then twists the arm. Enofe goes outside and does a big sell for a baseball slide falling near the entrance.
Enofe hits a reverse sling blade for 2. Enofe single leg crabs him then suplexes him. Enofe goes up top and gets kicked then he tries for a top rope crossbody but gets dropkicked. Kushida hip tosses him into a dropkick then 2nd rope tornado ddt's him. Kushida armbars him then pele kicks him. Kushida goes for a back handspring but is dropkicked in the back. Enofe hits a shooting star press from the top and wins it in a surprise finish.
Enofe didn't look out of place here and this was a lot better than I think anyone could have expected. It wasn't great or anything but it was perfectly fine for this type of show.
Overall thoughts: NXT Level Up is basically the same thing as 205 Live. There's still only 3 matches and they are still only short. The name did need changed, but I'm disappointed as I was hoping for more than that.
