New Japan Pro Wrestling 2/15/2022 - New Years Golden Series Day 11

Great-O-Khan vs Kosei Fujita

Khan stomps on him to start then brings him over with a fireman's carry into an armlock. They wrestle some and Khan crossfaces him but he gets to the ropes. Khan does a nice hip throw then puts him in a head and arm choke. Kosei picks him up and puts him down and then mounts him with forearms. Khan comes back with a leg lock and immediately wins it.

This wasn't too good and it was very short. They just never got started to build a match before it ended.

Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi and SANADA) vs Hiroshi Tanahshi, Ryohei Oiwa and Tomoaki Honma)

The faces pose before the bell. Oiwa and Bushi trade forearms then Bushi stomps him. Hiromu hits some slams. Sanada crabs him. Oiwa comes back with a dropkick then Honma comes in and cleans house. Honma STO's and ddt's Bushi and Hiromu at the same time. He then head butt drops all 3 opponents at 5 minutes.

Tana dragon screws Sanada then Sanada dragon screws him. Oiwa hits a nice running corner dropkick on Hiromu then Karelin's lifts him for 2. Oiwa hits another ropkick on Hiromu for 2. Oiwa nails him with a forearm then is lariated. Oiwa then taps to the boston crab from Hiromu.

This was a waste of time but Honma and Oiwa got a little offense in.

Kazuchika Okada & Togi Makabe vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (Shingo Takagi & Tetsuya Naito)

Makabe and Shingo trade shoulders. Naito dropkicks Makabe and knocks Okada off the apron, and they fight outside. Okada ddt's Shingo and flapjacks him. Naito gets some offense on Okada including a dropkick to the back of the neck and a neckbreaker. He then cravate's him.

They go outside and Naito spears Okada into the rails. Naito throws the ref, which was a DQ earlier but not here. Okada hits some hard forearms on Naito then dropkicks him. Shingo and Makabe trade forearms then Makabe corner punches Shingo. Okada whips Shingo into a Makabe slam.

Shingo hits a big lariat then a sliding lariat on Makabe for 2. Everyone gets in and Naito headscissors Okada. Makabe lariats both opponents then lariats Shingo for 2. Shingo superplexes Makabe and they lariat battle. They trade forearms then Shingo lariats him down. Shingo hits a last of the dragon and wins it.

I liked this one. They actually had some fire behind their shots, they worked stiff and they weren't mailing it in here like they usually do.

Ten Man Tag Team Elimination Match - Master Wato, Ryusuke Taguchi, Toru Yano & Yuji Nagata vs. Suzuki-gun (El Desperado, Minoru Suzuki, Taichi & Yoshinobu Kanemaru)

This is an elimination match. I think it was supposed to be 5v5 but ended up being 4v4.

Suzuki has handcuffs and there's a dog cage outside again. Everyone brawls before the ring announcements are up and Suzuki tries to put Yano in the cage. Taguchi hits some butt bumps and springboard butt bumps Taichi. Suzuki kicks Taguchi in the butt and tries to pull down Taguchi's tights.

Kanemaru hits a big back body drop on Wato and Suzuki-gun all stomps Wato. They off a turnbuckle pad and Yano goes into the exposed steel. Suzuki PK's him for 2 then chokes him. He grabs handcuffs and the ref fights him for it. Yano low blows Suzuki and Suzuki handcuffs himself to Yano. They trade forearms. The ref tries to stop it and gets pushed off and DQ's both.

Yano somehow gets out of the cuffs and Suzuki goes after him. Nagata and Taichi go at it and Nagata armbars him but SG breaks it up. Nagat and Taichi trade kicks and Nagata takes a side kick before getting an exploder in. Nagata step up knee's him in the corner and Taichi throws him over for the Nagata elimination.

3v2 now. Taguchi ankle locks him on the apron and Taichi goes off. 2v2 now. Despy immediately comes in and pushes Taguchi off the apron to eliminate him. 2v1 now. Despy hits a spinebuster. Wato tries to headscissors him but is caught then Wato pulls him over the top with the headscissors. It's Wato vs Kanemaru now, as they are the last survivors.

YK dropkicks Wato in the knee. Wato spin kicks him and superkicks him. Wato hits Recientemente and after a TTD, Kanemaru rolls up Wato for the win.

It took a while to get the eliminations going then they all happened super fast. They should have built up to the eliminations more and teased them more, but instead just ran through some of them. I was also disappointed we didn't get the payoff with Suzuki handcuffing Yano and destroying him.
