GLEAT 2/22/2022 - GLEAT G PROWRESTLING Ver. 18
GLEAT 2022年2月22日後楽園ホール「G PROWRESTLING Ver.18」

Hey it's GLEAT. I've gotten close to doing it before, just other things came up and it didn't happen.

G-REX Title First Champion Decision Tournament Semi Final Match - T-Hawk vs. El Lindaman

They shoulder battle early and Linda hits a nice hiptoss and throw. Hawk hits some chops then takes a huge back rolling bump for a 2nd rope dropkick. Hawk hits some spinning chops and plants him with the DDT. Linda jumps up and gets a hard sitout spinebuster down.

Hawk cravate's him and hits another planting DDT. He then rolls him backwards making him bump and hits a neat stf but Linda hits the ropes. Hawks pops him super hard with a punch then Linda hits a nice dropkick. Linda hits a nice forearm then throws him hard on an exploder. Hawk gets caught on the 2nd rope and Linda neckbreakers him while he hangs.

Linda gets legrolled again and gets caught on a hurricanrana and takes one of the nastiest sounding powerbombs in the history of wrestling. Hawk then hits a nasty reverse slam (maybe the best attempt at this move I've ever seen) but Linda no sells and release germans him. Linda goes up for a splash off the top and gets stiffed so hard when Hawk gets his feet up.

Hawk goes for a 2nd rope splash mountain but Linda reverses it with a hurricanrana. Linda hits a super stiff forearm then takes an awful sounding chop. He takes more chops then release german's Hawk on his head. Linda takes a running knee and a super high splash mountain for 2. Linda comes back with a hurricanrana into a triangle but Hawk gets out. Linda hits a nice tiger suplex and won it.

The selling could have been a lot better here and they did too much for an opener but this was one of the stiffest matches I've ever seen. This was just brutal and is a must see match. Everything they did looked so good here.

G-REX Title First Champion Decision Tournament Semi Final Match - Takanori Ito vs. Hayato Tamura

Tamura has bright red hair and gold tights on which is quite the look. They rush each other at the bell and Tamura lariats him hard. They collide super hard in ring and Ito hits a big knee to the gut.

Tamura hit a shoulder off the top and threw Ito into the post. Tamura is on the apron and Ito kicks him in the leg from the floor, knocking him down. Tamura gets thrown into the metal rails then Ito does a hard running PK.

Ito slaps Tamura then chest kicks him. Tamura asks for more and they trade hard chops for kicks. Ito then stiffs him with a hard knee to the chest. Ito has him in a leg lock and they chop each other.

They trade more shots then Tamura lariats him over the top and goes with him. Tamura sliding lariats him for 2 then hits a stiff twisting neckbreaker. They trade lariats for kicks in the opposite corners then Tamura takes a big overhead belly to belly. Tamura hits a big sitout spinebuster for 2.

They fight up top and Tamura headbutts him then Ito hits a great spinning heel kick while he's up there. Ito then 2nd rope fallaway slams him but Tamura doesn't sell it. Tamura then gets saito suplexed but just hits a jackhammer instead of selling. They butt heads and trade forearms and hit some very stiff ones. they hit strike combos on each other and Ito hits a hard spin kick to the head while Tamura is on his knees.

Ito then hits a great german suplex for 2. Ito no sells a death valley driver then gets lariated hard. Tamura then hits a hard running lariat for another close 2. Tamura then wins it with a running muscle drop.

The selling was an issue here but they were very stiff and the action was fast. These two matched up real well together and stuff like this is the hard hitting wrestling that people watch puroresu for.

Keiichi Sato, TiiiDA & Yu Iizuka vs. Jun Tonsho, Leo Isaka & Soma Watanabe

I've only ever seen Soma before here, but I know of Iizuka and Isaka.

Jun and Sato start. Soma and Yu then go at it and Yu running kicks him in the chest. Tida flips over Lei then runs right into him with a forearm. Tida puts his knees on the top rope and flips onto Leo.

Yu and Leo trade forearms and Leo stiff him hard with a spin kick in the face. Jun and Soma double elbow Yu in the corner then both jump off each others backs to attack him. Soma does a cool flying forearm to a seated Yu then Leo does a nice slingshot senton on him.

Yu hits a nice dropkick on Leo then Sato knocks everyone off the apron with shoulders. Sato leg lariats Leo then tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him. Tida and Soma trade fast forearms and Soma goes for a springboard twisting move but Tida dropkicks him in mid-air.

Soma takes high kicks, a backdrop, a double stomp, a PK and an asai moonsault for 2. Jun hits a fast la mistica on Tida then Soma does a great 2nd rope skytwister press on Tida for 2. Leo and Jun hit stereo hurricanrana's then Jun does a triangle moonsault to the outside. Leo then does a moonsault to the outside. Soma gorilla press gutbusters Tida then 450's him for the win.

This was good. The work was very fast paced and stiff.

DASH Chisako & Yurika Oka vs. Michiko Miyagi & Yukari Hosokawa

Miyagi is Andras Miyagi and she looks very different dressed normally. Yukari calls out Dash and they grab each other by the hair. Yukari rushes her with a dropkick then Dash nails her hard with a forearm. She slaps her around then running shoulders her hard and running dropkicks her hard.

Dash hits some great gut kicks then facebusters her for 2. Oka comes in and hits some fast dropkicks then she and Yukari trade chest forearms. Yukari hits a stiff dropkick and tags out. Miyagi slams around Oka and suplexes her. Oka does a nice headscissors.

Miyagi and Dash trade stiff facekicks and Miyagi wins that one. Dash hits some hard headbutts and stiffs her with a big forearm. She then hits a hard basement dropkick. Miyagi comes back with a dropkick and a backdrop and tags out.

Yukari hits some dropkicks on Dash then some double stomps, including a 2nd rope stomp. Yukari armbars her and Dash hits the ropes. Dash hits a nice dropkick on her then Oka hits some crossbodies. Oka botches a 2nd rope splash then her and Yukari botch a backslide. Yukari basically hits a shoot bodyslam on her. They fight up top and Yukari ends up on Oka's shoulders for a roll into a pin for 2. Miyagi hits a super high missile dropkick on Oka then Yukari double stomps Oka from the top then Dash double stomps Yukari.

Yukari and Oka trade more forearms then Oka fisherman's busters her and they botch a pin attempt. Dash hits a hard dropkick on Miyagi and Oka fisherman suplexes Yukari for 2. Oka then wins it with a splash from the top.

It had a lot of sloppiness in the 2nd half but two of the girls are young wrestlers and that's what happens. It was still a good effort though as the match was very fast paced and stiff.

Yukari and Oka get into it with forearms after then yukari goes after Dash.

NEXTREAM (Atsuki Aoyagi & Rising HAYATO) vs. STRONGHEARTS (Issei Onitsuka & Shigehiro Irie)

Atsuki and Rising are from All Japan and technically, Irie might as well be too. Irie shoulders down Atsuki and Atsuki comes back with a dropkick. Rising and Issei trade chops. Rising springboard dropkicks him. They trade forearms and Issei gets double hiptossed then double dropkicked.

Issei hits a big spear on Atsuki at 5 minutes. Irie piledrivers Irie onto Atsuki's gut. Atsuki sits on the apron with his back facing the ring and Irie crossbodies him through the ropes. Issei then does a top rope elbow onto his opponents who were standing.

Atsuki hits a nice tornado kick then Rising springboard dropkciks Irie for 2. Irie hits a nice black hole slam on Rising then Issei elbows Rising off the 2nd rope. Irie cannonballs Rising in the corner then Issei hits a uranage on Rising for 2. Atsuki top rope dropkicks Issei.

Issei takes superkicks from both opponents then Rising swantons Issei for 2. Irie chest headbutts Atsuki but Atsuki handspring spin kicks him then moonsaults him from the 2nd post rung. Issei then hits a hurricanrana out of nowhere on Rising and wins it.

That wasn't that great. They did some nice moves and all but the finish was out of nowhere and there wasn't much logic. I also thought it ran a little longer than needed.

G-REX Title First Champion Decision Tournament Final Match  - El Lindaman vs. Hayato Tamura

Linda dropkicks him to start then does a great tope con hilo. Linda then hits a nice top rope dropkick and a top rope splash for 2. Linda blocks HT's lariat with a fujiwara armbar, then Linda takes a hard floor bump off of a back body drop.

Things slow down as HT takes control over Linda with stomps and a sleeper. HT the spinning sleepers him. Linda lifts him and hits a waterwheel drop at 5 minutes. HT superplexes him. Linda hits a release exploder and takes a saito suplex. HT hits some hard forearms against the ropes then Linda fires back.

They really go after each other with them and Linda takes a sit down choke bomb. HT then nails him super hard with a lariat. HT hits a jackhammer for 2 and Linda turns it into an armbar. HT ends up powerbombing out of it.

They trade forearms and HT hits two stiff lariats for 2. HT hits a jackhammer. Linda goes under his legs and gets behind him for a german, then HT german's him. HT sleepers him then Linda goes up the buckles and falls backwards to get him off. Linda then hits a deadlift german and and another one for 2. Linda then hits a high tiger suplex for the win.

This was good but it was the last match on the show and it was just not going to top the first two matches. That's the danger of doing too much early - it's harder for the later matches compare. This was stiff and had some cool stuff in it but it's just hard when the opener is one of the stiffest matches in history.

Overall thoughts:
A very good show. It peaked in the first match and slowly turned down a little but it was fast paced strong style wrestling the whole way through. Easily one of the best shows so far in 2022.
