Dragon Gate 2/20/2022 - Truth Gate Day 8 (Day Show)

Dragon Gate 2/20/2022 - Truth Gate Day 8 (Day Show)

Dragon Gate has two shows at this arena today. If I had to guess why, it's because it's in Fukuoka which is in the southern part of Japan and far.

Jason Lee, Ryu Fuda & Takumi Hayakawa vs. Kaito Ishida, Kota Minoura & Naruki Doi

Takumi does a nice armdrag on Kota and they face off. Takumi is so short and makes everyone look like giants. Fuda and Kaito trade leg kicks and both kick each other in the back. Takumi takes some slams from Doi and Kota. He then gets a boring beat down then hits a springboard crossbody and a headscissors on Doi.

Lee hits a nice dropkick on Kota and fights off a 2v1 with a tornado ddt by jumping off Kota. Fuda PK's Kaito for 2 then Takumi gets put in the wheelbarrow position and flatliners Kota. Fuda tries to fire up after eating some boots from Kaito but just gets another kick to the face.

Fuda tries some rollups on Kota and takes an exploder for 2. Kota hits him with a falcon arrow and wins it.

This was about 10 minutes and basically a long squash. The younger wrestlers didn't get too much in before their inevitable loss.

BIG BOSS Shimizu, Masaaki Mochizuki & Ultimo Dragon vs. Z-Brats (Diamante, KAI & SB KENTo)

Mochchy and SBK start. SBK leglocks him and Mocchy does a bad ropebreak. SBK gets on the apron and Mocchy slaps him in the back of the head then baseball slides him off the apron. SBK basically takes a nap on the floor and Kai begs Shimizu for a handshake. Shimizu ends up just shouldering him out of the ring.

Diamante then tries the handshake nonsense on Ultimo. Ultimo does his usual over the shoulder takedown and kicks Diamante in the butt and he goes out of the ring. Ultimo then dropkicks SBK.  Mocchy and Shimizu double shoulder SBK then Shimizu suplexes SBK. Mocchy slaps SBK over the head and takes a stiff dropkick from Diamante.

SBK slapped Mocchy over the head then got chest slapped. SBK ran into his own partner on the apron and Mocchy punched him in the face. Kai pokes Shimizu in the eye and high kicks him. Shimizu hits a body block then does his cartwheel pose.

Diamante takes his usual jerry bump off of Ultimo and Kai and Shimizu battle lariats. Shimizu then rolls him up for the win.

This was not good. Just a very lazy attempt by everyone involved. Ultimo as always got put over and didn't help out anyone and slaps and eyepokes took up a lot of this match.

Open The Triangle Gate Title Tournament Semi Final Match - Z-Brats (BxB Hulk, H.Y.O & Shun Skywalker) vs. Ishin Iihashi, Riki Iihashi & Takuma Fujiwara

They brawl at the bell with the rookies geting the edge. They run a corner train of moves on Hulk then triple basement dropkick him. Takuma takes a wild hair throw from Shun and his usual big back body drop bump. Takuma then takes a big double hiptoss and gets thrown around to be dropped on his chest.

The Brats hit triple boston crabs and the rookies rope break. Takuma hits a nice suplex on Hyo then the Iishin Bros both put on octopus stretches. The rookies all get chops on Shun then the Bros double shoulder Hulk. Takumi then hits a nice dropkick on Hyo then Takumi does his over the top rope slingshot footstomp on Hyo. The Bros double suplex Hyo for 2.  Takumi and Hyo go at it and Hyo does his roll-up pinning clutch to win it.

The rookies got a lot of offense in here and probably more than the heels. It seemed unlikely they would win and they did not. I thought it was okay for what it was but the match just didn't have enough time at around 10 minutes.

Open The Triangle Gate Title Tournament Semi Final Match - Natural Vibes (Jacky Funky Kamei, Kzy & U-T) vs. HIGH-END (Ben-K, Dragon Kid & YAMATO)

The faces are thrown out and UT dives on Kid and Yamato. Vibes hits a moves sequence with a camel clutch and dropkick on Ben. Ben shoulders Jacky into UT then spears both in the corner. Kid knee drops Jacky into his handstand capoeira knee.

Jacky gets a corner spear from Ben and looks legit hurt as he barely moves. Ben bearhugs him though and the match slows to a crawl. Jacky and Yamato trade chops after a few minutes of little action. They then put each other in the corner and hit forearm flurries.

Jacky gets popped up and dropkicks Yamato then Ben ends up spearing the post. Kid goes for a swinging headscissors on Kzy but gets slammed down then Kid 619's UT in the gut. UT puts Kid in a version of the heavenly lock then Jacky does his short kick combo on Kid. UT then slingshot codebreakers Kid for 2.

Yamato hits a nice single leg dropkick to UT. UT gets on Yamato's shoulders on the top and Kid hurricanrana's him off then Yamato dropkicks him from the top for 2. Yamato and Jacky traded chops. Jacky pulled down the top rope and Yamato went over then Ben hit a hard spear on Jacky. Kzy took a Kid 619 then euro uppercutted Kid on a springboard. Ben hit a stiff doctor bomb on Kzy for 2 then Ben slid into a Kzy forearm in a neat spot. Kzy hit a forearm combo on Ben and back elbowed him for the win.

I don't know what happened with Jacky but his beatdown section went on forever and was super slow, which really hurt this match. Had they cut down on that, this would have been a decent one as he rest of the match was good.

Z-Brats beat up on Natural Vibes after.

Overall thoughts: Not a good one here. I skipped two matches but DG wrestlers are usually lazy on house show cards and since they were working twice here, they were extra lazy.
