 WWE 205 Live 1/29/2021

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2021/01/wwe-205-live-1222021.html

Triple Threat Match - Ariya Daivari vs. August Grey vs. Jake Atlas

They said Grey and Atlas were supposed to fight but Ariya got involved on social media and it became a triple threat. They didn't show any of this though for some reason.

Atlas takes a big knee from Ariya early. Grey ducks an Atlas shot and nails Ariya with a tope. Grey hurricanrana's Atlas but Atlas cartwheels out of it and they stare down after Grey kips up. Ariya tries to dive on both of them but they move and he hits the mat. Ariya iconoslams Grey onto Atlas.

Grey backdrops Ariya and then catches his breath and Atlas slips in for a nearfall on Ariya. Atlas gets knocked off the apron with a Ariya forearm. Grey walks the top rope and does a twisting crossbody onto Ariya for 2. Atlas and Ariya trade some shots and Atlas hits a spinning lariat for 2. Grey gets hiptossed into a sitting Atlas then Ariya frogsplashes Grey for 2 from the top.

Atlas hits a tope on Ariya on the outside and then Grey walks the top rope and dives on Ariya on the outside. Atlas backflips and then stuns Grey then he does his cartwheel ddt off the top. Ariya grabs a chain and nails Atlas with it then beats Grey with a hammerlock lariat.

Apparently this was No DQ the whole time as Ariya hit Atlas with a chain and then the announcers mentioned it. Why the wrestlers wouldn't use weapons in a No DQ match until the very end is beyond me. Aside from those logic issues, this was a spotfest. Three person matches can be a little limited especially with time constraints and limited stories and this is really about all this was going to be.

They showed clips of a Curt Stallion interview from NXT and showed him getting attacked later that night. Curt blamed Santos Escobar for it and Escobar said it was unfortunately. Regal then came in and yelled at LdF and said the match will take place next week or else they will suffer serious consequences. Regal looked far more imposing than all of them.

Women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic 2021 First Round Match - Ember Moon & Shotzi Blackheart vs. Marina Shafir & Zoey Stark

The finish
Nothing says celebrating tag team wrestling like having a bunch of makeshift teams. At least Shotzi and Ember look like they could hang other together.

Zoey takes a double dropkick to start then she throws Ember into the bottom buckle. Shafir hits a nice judo throw on Ember and slams Ember onto Zoey's knees. Shafir does a random cartwheel and face shoves Ember. Zoey takes a rough looking trip and Ember's team has their opponents lined up on the middle rope and both of them kick them. Shotzi hits a reverse sling blade and a spinning forearm.

Shafir hits a nice pumphandle suplex on Shotzi and Zoey flips Shotzi into a knee. It's a goofy move logically but it looked cool. Shotzi made a hot tag to Ember and she hit some face kicks. Ember jumped off the 2nd rope into a codebreaker on Stark. Shotzi and Shafir blew a move then Ember hit a nasty looking STF type of move to win. They didn't have much time and it was rushed but the action didn't stop at all. It was sloppy though with multiple awkward points.

Overall thoughts: Two action packed matches here. If you like that fast style with cool moves you will probably like this.
