New Japan Pro Wrestling Road to The New Beginning Day 3 1/19/2021

Day 2 is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2021/01/new-japan-pro-wrestling-road-to-new.html

Satoshi Kojima & Yota Tsuji vs. The United Empire (Great-O-Khan & Will Ospreay)

They get started before the bell here with forearms as usual. Khan judo throws Yota and does a head and arm choke which Yota breaks at the ropes. Khan gutwrenches Yota then drops him down. Yota hits some forearms but gets downed on one mongolian chop. Then he gets lifted to the corner where Khan sits on him.

Will takes a big slam from Yota. Kojima hits machine gun chops on Will, Will comes back with forearms, then more chops for Will. Kojima gets out of a 2v1 and DDT's Khan. Will then comes off top with a springboard forearm. Will takes a Koji cutter. Will and Yota trade some forearms and Yota does a big back body drop on Will.

Yota and Koji 2v1 Will and Yota hits a big splash coming off the ropes. Kojima takes a mongolian chop and rolls outside for it. Will hits Yota with a spinning elbow then an elevated reverse DDT for 2. Will superkicks Kojima in the side of the head and Yota hits a strong spear on Will. Will then hits the Os Cutter for the win in a nothing special match, though Yota continues to look good.

CHAOS (Hirooki Goto, Kazuchika Okada & YOSHI-HASHI) vs. BULLET CLUB (Dick Togo, EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi)

Chaos gets jumped before the bell, shocking, I know. Goto ducks out of a corner clothesline and hits one of his own. Then he misses a spinning lariat but Togo sells it anyway. Chaos pounds on Yujiro's back then double shoulders him. Yujiro and Goto trade some shots that ends in an eye rake. Togo does a nice fist drop to Togo for 2.

Evil puts Goto in an abdominal stretch and his partners both grab on for extra leverage. Goto and Yuj collide hard on double lariats, then they go down on the second lariat collison. Okada gets in and nails Yuj with a sliding back elbow. Yuj baseball slides Okada and lariats him. Evil puts Okada on the 2nd rope near the buckles then curbstomps him down.

Okada hits his neckbreaker on the knee to Evil. Yoshi hangs Evil on the ropes and dropkicks him. Both teams interfere on their partners behalf at 10 minutes in, then Goto and Yoshi do a neckbreaker over the knee & superkick combo. Evil does a nice sell on a lariat and gets put into the butterfly lock by Yoshi. Yoshi gets a low blow and an everything is evil STO for the Bullet Club win. This was pretty short and wasn't anything special but was fine.

Kota Ibushi & Tomoaki Honma vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (SANADA & Tetsuya Naito)

Sanada does a nice escape out of a wristlock but ends up meeting a kick to the chest. Sanada takes a double shoulderblock but evades a double headbutt attempt. Honma gets throat draped over the ropes and Naito puts a grounded cravate on Honma. Honma and Naito have a boring segment that ends with a Honma headbutt. Kota hits a back elbow then a standing moonsault.

Sanada puts Ibushi in the paradise lock and dropkicks him to clear it as usual. Sanada hits Ibushi with a spinning neckbreaker off the ropes and they both tag out. Honma suplexes Naito for 2 and does a reverse STO/DDT combo on both opponents, then hits a headbutt. Naito flipbumps for a Honma clothesline then Honma gets stuck up top.

Naito and Sanada hit double dropkicks on Honma. Naito and Honma go at it and Naito hits a slow destino for the win. This wasn't anything special but was better than their outing on Night 2.

Naito throws out Honma after and throws him into the rails.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, Master Wato & SHO vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi & Shingo Takagi)

Hiromu starts off with a John Woo dropkick on Sho and they shoulder each other down. Wato and Tana hit a nice double dropkick on Hiromu. Tana puts Hiromu in an abdominal stretch and plays air guitar on him. LIJ slips in some quick dropkicks on Sho. Tana and Shingo trade forearms on the outside but they cut away from that for some reason.

Shingo got in and teased nailing Tana on the apron but Tana saw it coming and moved. Shingo teased a senton on Sho then nailed Tana on the apron. Sho hit a nice spear on Hiromu. Wato hit a springboard euro uppercut then some kicks to Bushi. Bushi and Wato trade forearms. Bushi hits a hard spinning neckbreaker on him.

Shingo and Tana evade each others shots then Tana hits his springboard back crossbody on him. Shingo dragon screws Tana at 10 miunutes and hits a hard sliding lariat. They trade hard forearms.  Wato hits a nice spin kick on Shingo and Shingo lariats Wato and Sho. Shingo hit a great lariat on Wato. Hiromu tries to hurricanrana Sho but he catches him and Hiromu escapes the powerbomb. Everyone gets in and Wato crucifixes Shingo for a close 2. Shingo then catches Wato and throws him up into a legend falconry to win.

Nothing wrong with this at all. They still saved stuff here and didn't go all out but it was fine for a house show main event.

Overall thoughts: I skipped one match but it was a decent house show. Nothing too special but nothing too bad either.
