New Japan Pro Wrestling Road to The New Beginning Day 2 1/18/2021

Day 1 is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2021/01/njpw-road-to-new-beginning-2021-day-1.html

Satoshi Kojima & Yuya Uemura vs. The United Empire (Great-O-Khan & Will Ospreay) (w/Bea Priestley)

UE clears out their opponents to start. Will whips Kojima with Kojima's jacket. Khan misses a mongolian chop and Yuya comes back with forearms. Yuya hits a nice armdrag that Osperay really bumped for. Kojima and Yuya shoulderblock Khan and double suplex him. Khan picks up Yuya and slams him then puts on a head and arm lock.

Khan gutwrenches Yuya but drops him down. Will does a spinning backbreaker on Yuya for 2. Yuya gets picked on for a bit and comes back with a big dropkick. Kojima hits some machine gun chops on Will and then some on Khan, then more on Will. Kojima went up top and got thrown down. Kojima fought out of a 1v2 with DDT's on both opponents, then he hit Will with a cutter. Yuya did a big flying forearm to Will and hooked both his arms but Will bit his ear.

Khan picked up Yuya for a backdrop but just slammed him down chest first. Yuya did some roll-ups and did a big sell for a Khan step kick. Khan then did a claw slam for the win. This was actually not bad at all and one of Khan's better performances. Yuya and Kojima are a fun team.

CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii, Kazuchika Okada & YOSHI-HASHI) vs. BULLET CLUB (Dick Togo, EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi)

I think Goto was supposed to be here instead of Ishii. Okada gets hit from behind by Togo then is 2v1'd. Yoshi hits a neckbreaker which Yujiro really sells for some reason. Togo hits Yoshi in the back as he hits the ropes and he nails Togo for it. Everyone goes outside with Yoshi getting choked with his stick and Okada takes a chair from Evil.

Togo does a jumping fist drop to Yoshi's head and Yoshi goes into the exposed turnbuckle. Ishii gets in and shoulderblocks everyone. Yujiro forearms Ishii and gets dropped with a forearm in return. Evil gets in and throws Ishii into the exposed buckles, then Ishi comes back and knocks him backwards with a shoulderblock. Okada hits Evil with a big flapjack.

BC all rams Okada into the corner. Ishii comes in and german's Togo and Evil and Yoshi hits a big lariat on Yujiro. Okada dropkicks Togo then wins with the money clip. This sucked and was a total waste of time.

Kota Ibushi, SHO & Tomoaki Honma vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (Hiromu Takahashi, SANADA & Tetsuya Naito)

Sho and Hiromu trade forearms to start. The have a long exchange and both beat each other own into the corners at times. Ibushi and Honma hit a double shoulder then double headbutts. Sho gets back in and hands out more forearms to Hiromu then LIJ helps out and Sho gets lariated over the top.

Naito sliding dropkicks Sho in the corner. Naito goes for a tornado ddt up the ropes but ends up getting suplexed. Sho hits a double spear on Hiromu and Naito. Ibushi gets in and sliding kicks Sanada then standing moonsaults him. Sanada goes for a standing moonsault but Ibushi moves, then he catches himself and dropkicks Ibushi. Sanada tries to put the paradise lock on Ibushi, but he can't, then Ibushi tries one of his own. Ibushi does a DDT and flatliner combo to Sanada and Naito then does a falling headbutt to Sanada. Sho and Hiromu go at it and Hiromu hits a pop-up sitdown powerbomb. Honma gets a triple dropkick from LIJ and rolls up Sanada for 2.

Sanada puts Honma's leg on the top rope and then twist neckbreaker's him down. Then he puts on a grounded dragon screw for the win in a short, low-effort and totally nothing match.

Hiroshi Tanahashi & Master Wato vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI & Shingo Takagi)

Bushi and Wato evade each other's attacks to start. Shingo trips Wato outside and Bushi sliding dropkicks him. Shingo knocks Tana off the apron and puts him into the rails. Bushi footslaps Wato and they trade some forearms. Wato hits a swinging headscissors on Bushi and kick combos Shingo with a flying kick to end it.

Tana dragon screws Shingo and Bushi. Tana goes up to the second rope and Shingo backdrops him down. Bushi missile dropkicks Tana from the top, then Tana does a crossbody from the 2nd rope on him. Wato hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Bushi and kick combo's him. Wato does a tornado kick and he trades forearms with Bushi. Wato takes an enzugiri and a backcracker.

Tana and Shingo comes in and Tana combos him with forearms. Shingo hits a twisting neckbreaker, then Tana gives him one back. They trade some forearms and Shingo hits a big forearm combo then gets slapped. Tana hits a slingblade but Shingo pops up with a lariat. Bushi ddt's Tana and Shingo holds up Tana so Bushi can backcracker him. Tana dragon screws Bushi then puts him in a Texas cloverleaf but Shingo breaks it up with a lariat to the back of the head.

Shingo then forearms Tana and headbutts him but runs into a diving euro uppercut by Wato. Wato then tornillo's him. Tana hits a slingblade on Bushi and beats him with a high fly flow. Not as good as it could have been but it was fine for a house show main event. Nothing you would ever go back and watch again or seek out though.

Overall thoughts: I did skip one match but this was a house show with an additional 2 hour time limit due to restrictions. It wasn't that good and it is nothing worth seeing.
