Dramatic Dream Team 11/27/2020 - DDT D-Ou Grand Prix 2021 In Narimasu!

Keigo Nakamura, Tomomitsu Matsunaga & Toru Owashi vs. Hideki Okatani, MAO & Yukio Naya

Okatani and Owashi start out and do some weird sequence with OWashi fakeouts on a leapfrog, then they do a bad faceoff. Naya drops Matsunaga with a shoulder and they both tag out. Keigo and Mao get in and Keigo fakes out Mao with an old Super Kendo spot. Keigo starts hiptossing everyone, including his partners, and when he tries to hiptoss the ref, the ref hiptosses him. Dumb spot. Naya comes in and Keigo takes him down witha missile dropkick, which he shouldn't bump for. Toru does slow counters and we get a little bit of Toru vs Naya. They both hit some comically bad offense. Okatani gets some forearms in and drops Matsunaga with another forearm.

Mao and Keigo trade forearms and Keigo does have some charisma to him, but its the type that screams "comedy gimmick". Keigo goes butt first into the top rope and catches himself. Then he does the dumb hiptoss spot again and this time hiptosses the ref. That should be a DQ. Then they all pose together. Naya lifts up Keigo and throws him into the corner. Mao hits a nasty looking spin kick on Keigo and wins with a straightjacket powerbomb.

Makoto Oishi vs. Kazusada Higuchi

The finish

Oishi tries to headlock takedown Higuchi early but gets picked up and taken to the corner. Higuchi tries to chop Oishi, but he blocks it, so Higuchi pushes him into the ropes and tries, but Oishi dropkicks him in the leg during the attempt. Oishi goes to work on the leg and hooks it after getting slammed. Oishi wraps one of Higuchi's legs up in the ropes then spinning toe holds the other. Oishi then gets caught again by Higuchi and gets punished for it and finally eats the chop. Higuchi lifts up Oishi for like a high backbreaker but Oishi gets out and turns it into a sleeper then a rolling indian deathlock.

Oishi works the leg more and tries a shoulder block, only to get blasted. Oishi hits a crucifix bomb then gets hit with a chokeslam. On the way down though he hooks the leg and puts Higuchi in his leglock again. Higuchi can't get the ropes so he iron claw's Oishi. for the win.

Really fun match with Oishi showing some real wrestling genius. I don't know what got into him but Oishi is making a serious case for being one of the best wrestlers of the year. Smart match.

Soma Takao vs Yuki Ueno

The finish

They both pull each other's hair early and Ueno goes down first with a dropkick. Soma comes off the top and gets met with a dropkick. Uen does a banzai drop style move with his both knees. Soma throws him out of the ring with force then Ueno does a nice sell off the ringpost. Soma bullies Ueno a bit back in the ring and Ueno comes back with a nice double knee drop. Ueno takes control with a body scissors. Ueno goes to the top and Soma handstands off the 2nd rope and hurricanrana's him. They counter each other's shots and trade some forearms. Soma does some footslaps to a downed Ueno and Ueno gets mad, hitting a big kick and some slaps back before another strike exchange where they end by grabbing each other by the hair. Soma forearms Ueno down and Ueno comes back with fire and drops him with a shining wizard. Ueno does a far reaching frogsplash and they roll around in some pin attempts with Takao finally pinning Ueno. Good match with some fire and energy.

Tetsuya Endo vs Shunma Katsumata

The finish

Shunma comes out with a box of legos and a baseball bat with legos on them, while dressed in dress clothes with facepaint. Shunma hides under the ring then nails Endo with a chair as he poses in the ring. That should be a DQ or a cancellation of the match, but it won't be. Endo then gets stabbed with the handle on a hammer but recovers and chokes Shunma with his jacket. Endo pours out some legos and is backdropped on them. They finally get in ring and Shunma scratches Endo's back hard. Shunma points the ref the other way and chokes Endo with his shirt. Endo gets around him and scratches his back too with a big back body drop. shunma goes for his baseball bat and he fights the ref over it.

They tug of war and Shunma lets go, with the bat going into Endo's gut. Shunma then uses the bat on him while the ref is bent over but the ref doesn't DQ him. Shunma gets a light tube with legos from under the ring. He drops it and the ref catches it and puts it somewhere for safety. Shunma then drops a pile of legos in the ring. Shunma throws Endo the lego box and tries to dropkick Endo but he moves and Shunma goes back first into legos. The ref thinks Endo dropped the legos but then Shunma rolls him up multiple times. Endo gets a lego stuck in his hair. Shunma does like a double underhook knucklelock from the top and suplexes Shunma onto the legos.

Shunma russian legsweeps Endo onto the legos for 2 and Endo comes back with a big slam type of move. Shunma takes a super fireman's carry press onto the lego's on his stomach. Endo tries to SSP him, but Shunma gets his knees up. Endo hits a backflip kick, then shoves some lego's into Shunma's mouth before headbutting them in further. Endo tries some submissions and finally puts him in a seated guillotine with Shunma's arms tied up for the win.

Look, if this was a no rules match, I wouldn't had any problem with this, but this was supposed to be a normal match(at least I think), so there should have been some DQ's here. If you subtract that part, it was entertaining and had some good work in it. I still enjoyed it, but it would have just been better if this was a no DQ match or lego's only match.

Yukio Sakaguchi vs. Chris Brookes

Sakaguchi does some kicks early and Brookes makes the mistake of toying with him, and then gets hit hard. Brookes starts to attack his foot with Yukio being barefoot. Brookes bites the foot and Yukio comes back with kicks. Yukio hangs on top of Brookes and gets draped across the top rope where he takes a neckbreaker, which Yukio doesn't really sell much until after he attacks him. Brookes captures his arm and foot and does a neat suplex. Brookes hits a nice cradle which is turned into a submission. They trade some shots but Yukio in particular isn't selling it much. Yukio puts his head through the ropes and takes a neckbreaker on the ropes. Then Yukio has enough and triangle chokes him for the win. This was not good at all and Yukio did not seem to be in the mood here.

Akito vs Konosuke Takeshita

They criss cross each other early and Take wins the exchange. Akito starts stalling outside the ring, teasing the 20 count. Akito wraps Take's leg around the post and rope. He dropkicks the leg while it is tied into the rope and then grabs a toehold-like move on it. They killed some time outside and were banging each others limbs off of a table. Akito tied his arm up again and was being scolded by the ref, then he did a dance to the count. Akito then started working on the arm various ways. Take finally started making a comeback, though it was slow and did a rolling neckbreaker while Akito was hanging off the top rope. Takeshita won this one with a fisherman's buster. This went 28 minutes and was dull as dirt for all of it. And combine that with a covid crowd that isn't cheering too loud and you got a bad time. Even if the match did make sense the pace was just dreadful. I fast forwarded through this because I had enough.

Overall thoughts: I liked the Shunma and Oishi matches, though the Shunma match was messed up from a rules perspective. The main was way too long and the trios match was alright even with the lack of realism with the comedy.
