WWE Main Event 9/4/2013 Results and Review

WWE Main Event 9/4/2013 Results and Review

Last week's show is here: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2013/08/wwe-main-event-8282013-results-and.html

The Main Event from last week that is usually shown before the new Main Event is now called WWE Main Event Encore, or at least that's what the graphic shows.

I did a podcast on this show here:

Fandango vs. Justin Gabriel

Justin Gabriel basically powerbombed himself on his neck on the outside due to Fandango not catching him on a dive. It looked terrible. Alex Riley also made an odd point where he said he didn't know what to get Cody Rhodes for his wedding gift since he got fired.

Fandango won with the Alabama Jam. This wasn't good at all. I don't know why but they didn't click at all and their match was quite clunky. Gabriel took a horrid bump on his neck on a dive and I was a little uneasy from there. Both guys just seemed a bit off here and I was surprised to see Fandango win.

R-Truth vs. Damien Sandow

Sandow said the truth is that Cody Rhodes has been justifiably terminated and that DS is the uncrowned champ.
He said Truth's days were numbered. Truth asked the crowd, "What's up?" and Sandow said, "Nothing!".

This got off to a rough start with tons of stalling and chinlocks. They also did a pin trading sequence.

R-Truth got a very surprising win over Damien Sandow in a big upset. The match started off bad but picked up. Truth took a bump off the apron and put his shoulder into the rails then got tossed straight out on his back onto the floor. Later, Damien Sandow did a moonsault and it looked like he took a facial from it. They got some nearfalls in and the crowd got into it in the second half before Truth got the win. After the match, DS proclaimed himself as the future champion. I'd hope not with the way he is being booked, unless that's an Intercontinental Championship he's talking about.

They announced Triple H's Town Hall Meeting for Smackdown.

The Wyatt Family vs. The Prime Time Players

Harper got the win with a great spinning lariat. This match was a lot of fun. Everyone was just bumping and running into each other, making for a really good car crash. Rowan got a tackle from Titus and bumped to the outside which was cool. I loved this one. Rating:***

Overall thoughts: This was good. The big moment of the show was Justin Gabriel piledriving himself on the outside on a failed dive. DS vs Truth started out bad but picked up big time though and the main was good.

  1. justin gabrial have faced fandango like the 4-5 times this year. this is another example of how much wwe replays the matches so much between every 2 until it burns out for the ones that watch these secondary shows while they get a little better bit by bit for when they do them on RAW for a squash like that one time for a few minutes to fill time ... I hate this.

    sandow can do moonsaults ?!

I also hate how EVERY money in the bank winner ALWAYS loses and loses and loses before he surprisingly~ win the title by luck only for very few to care most of the time because they hope he finally gets the push he deserves, which if wwe were smart, they would've given it to him since even before his MITB win, kept him going strong after that win and then finally everyone would care about him when he becomes world champion ! hey, it worked for sheamus before and after his royal rumble win and all the way until he became the world champ !

the wyatt family is the most interesting tag team in the buisness >:)

but the tag division in the wwe is a mess, honestly. and it has been like that since team hell no disbanded ! a new tag team pops up every once in a while, they get a little bit of momentum and if they're lucky they fight for the titles against the shield on the pre-show for some PPV. and when big show and mark henry finally showed some threat as a tag team, henry got injured and the plans were ruined ... and now, wwe got like 8-9 tag teams but none catch fire so well with the people and get them interested because they don't get to show their personality in promos ever. and this new los matadores tag team will come but still no one tag team is gaining enough momentum to beat the shield ... and night of champions is soon ! and I thought the prime time players were next in line for a push but here they job again.

  2. Well, one thing…
You said the main event was PTP vs Wyatts…
Meh, to me, if that were true, then (a) the main event was less than five minutes, but at least the superstars kept it moving, and (b) WWE went against their norms with how they FIRST promo'd WWE Main Event [i.e. the main event is actually the first match on WWE Main Event], which I wouldn't be surprised because they do that.
I dunno; I kinda felt like the end of the show was rushed and Damien Sandow vs. R-Truth was too long AND the end-match didn't get enough time to be even called a main event.
But jeez, I definitely agreed with you about the opening match. Fandango vs. Justin Gabriel was pretty painful to even watch.
