Sumo September Aki Basho 2013 Day 5 & Day 6 Results and Review

Sumo September Aki Basho 2013 Day 5 Results and Review

I am having problem viewing the sumo videos today. They are all appearing in black, white and green, so I can't do pictures.

J14w    Kitaharima (1-3)  vs J12w    Takanoyama (2-2)
Tak had a nice side stepping move and almost won with it but Kita got out of it and got behind Tak pushing him out easy.

J1e     Sokokurai (1-3) vs   J4e     Osunaarashi (3-1)
Osuna hit some nasty strikes here with tons of force behind them. Soko kept backing up and grabbed Osuna's arm and backed out too far to lose.

M13e    Endo (3-1) vs M14w    Jokoryu (2-2)
Jo rushed Endo and Endo wasn't ready for it. Endo then went out easy. Interesting match here with two of the fastest promoted rikishi.

M15w    Tamaasuka (2-2)  vs   M11w    Tochinowaka (2-2)
Tama went in very softly and Toch barely had to do anything to lead him out. This looked fixed.

S1w     Goeido (3-1)  vs O2w     Kotooshu (4-0)
Goeido got a nice win here. Koto was bent over too low and Go used it to his advantage as he pressed down on him and Koto did a nasty split. Ouch. Go is looking pretty good so far.

O2e     Kotoshogiku (3-1)  vs M1w     Ikioi (0-4)
Iki tried hard here but he just kept getting backed up and was on the edge until he finally went out. Horrible 0-5 start for him.

M1e     Shohozan (2-2) vs O1w     Kakuryu (3-1)
Kak gave Sho a right and then a left combo slap that sent him flying down.

O1e     Kisenosato (3-1) vs M3e     Takarafuji (0-4)
Kisen backed up Taka and got him out in no time here.

K1w     Takayasu (1-3)  vs   Y1w     Harumafuji (2-2)
Haruma won off the tachi ai and quickly got to Tak's side to put him out.

Y1e     Hakuho (4-0)  vs  M2w     Aoiyama (1-3)
Hak won quick here pushing out Aoi without issues.

Day 6:

J12w    Takanoyama (2-3) vs  J8w     Kagamio (4-1)
Tak got overpowered and went for an over the shoulder throw, which Kaga would have none of and put him out easy.

J4e     Osunaarashi (4-1) vs   J6w     Tokushinho (3-2)
Awesome win by Osuna here. He did a false start and got into a rough test of strength. He was on the edge but came back. He worked from the side and Toku went down belly flopping on the dohyo. Great win by Osuna as he outpowered and outsmarted the larger man. Osuna is only three away from his kachikoshi and should be there with no problems. Makushita is not far ahead of him.

M13e    Endo (3-2) vs M11w    Tochinowaka (3-2)
Very nice match here. Both guys had solid grips with Toch working the tail of the mawashi and Endo going inside. Endo had leverage since he was so low and had the better grip which got him the win. Good win.

O1e     Kisenosato (4-1)  vs M2w     Aoiyama (1-4)
Lots of long thrusts and slips here with Kisen getting the final thrust in and causing Aoi to fall and turn midway through the fall to land on his stomach.
M1e     Shohozan (2-3)  vs O2w     Kotooshu (4-1)
Sho was a total fireball here. He kept rushing Koto and Koto clearly couldn't keep up. He also couldn't finish Sho when he was near the edge and Sho gave it one final good ram where Koto stepped out. Great win for Shohozan.
O2e     Kotoshogiku (4-1)  vs   K1w     Takayasu (1-4)
Koto was non-stop going forward here and just pushed Taka out without an issue.

S1w     Goeido (4-1)   vs O1w     Kakuryu (4-1)
Go got real close here. He just pushed too much in the end though and ended up hitting the ground before Kak went out. Really close though and again it was a good effort. A win would have been really good for him.

Y1e     Hakuho (5-0)  vs   K1e     Tochiozan (2-3)
Super easy win for Hak here. He charged Tochi and grabbed an arm and threw him down in a second.
M2e     Okinoumi (2-3) vs   Y1w     Harumafuji (3-2)
Haruma was very aggressive here and went at Oki like an animal until he forced him out.
