NJPW ROAD TO INVASION ATTACK 4/5/2013

NJPW ROAD TO INVASION ATTACK 4/5/2013

I will be reviewing selected matches from this.

CHAOS(Gedo and Kazuchika Okada) vs Hiroshi Tanahashi and BUSHI

Kazuchika Okada got the win with the Red Ink. Good match here. The Okada/Tanahashi segments were excellent but there weren't enough of them. I mean, if you give me the choice between Okada/Tana and Gedo/BUSHI, you know which way I'm going everytime. Everyone was pretty decent here and BUSHI looked good, though his look is pretty much a rip of Rey Mysterio before WWE. I do think that Kazuchika Okada lost some of his luster after the losses of late, but hopefully he can get it all back. Rating:***

IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship - Prince Devitt vs Alex Shelley
Alex Shelley hits the rarely seen Media Cerrajera hold

Prince Devitt got the win with a high-angle DDT which was like a suplex, as you can see above. good match here. It had a little of everything with a fast pace, high flying, stiffness and some technical wrestling. The crowd loved it as well and Devitt's bloody nose added to it. Rating:***1/2

IWGP Tag Team Championship - Killer Elite Squad(Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Lance Archer) vs Shinsuke Nakamura and Tomohiro Ishii
The orange ad below them is from Yoshinoya. If you ever in Japan, go there. They got some awesome rice/beef combination bowls.
They called Archer, "American no Chyoujin", which means American Monster.
KES won with the powerbomb/neckbreaker combo. Good match here. The main star of this match was Ishii. Ishii is just so good. He's fiery and has such good timing on when to hit stuff. The crowd loves him and he's gotta be a candidate for Wrestler of the Year at this point. The heels were very good here too. You have to give it to the heels for being so big but yet really agile. It opens them up to a lot more different opponents and match types. While they probably aren't going to have 5-star matches, they can do a lot of solid stuff without problems. Nakamura was good and I loved his super Boma-Ye. He's definitely ripping off Michael Jackson though with his new gimmick. Good match here that has a lot of parts to enjoy. Rating:***1/2
