Sumo March Haru Basho Day 6

Sumo March Haru Basho Day 6

Ms24w Buseizan (1-1) vs  Ms23w Kyokutaisei (1-1)
Busei buried his head in Kyoku's chest and couldn't see, therefore making it easy for Kyoku to guide him out for the win.
J14e Hochiyama (1-4)  vs J8w Takanoyama (3-2)
Takanoyama basically did a side step henka to get the win here. Hochi went in for the tachi ai, Takano barely connected with it and went to the side for the easy win.
M16e Oiwato (3-2) vs M11w  Jokoryu (4-1)
Oiwato tried but he was outmatched here and Jokoryu looked strong absolutely throwing him out of the ring for the win.
M14e Chiyonokuni (2-3) vs  M12w  Masunoyama (4-1)
It was a power battle with Chiyonokuni taking it here.
M10e Takarafuji (3-2) vs  M12e Shotenro (4-1)
Takarafuji was just overpowered here from the start. He bounced off the tachi ai and never had this one at all.

M4e Toyonoshima (3-2) vs M8e  Aoiyama (4-1)
Aoi was too aggressive here and he went down. He had this in the bag but he went for another push and completely missed, putting him down.
M7e  Okinoumi (4-1) vs M4w  Shohozan (4-1)
Shohozan fired thrusts like Edmond Honda from Street Fighter here for the easy win. Great effort by Shohozan here.
O1e Kisenosato (3-2) vs  S1w  Baruto (4-1)
Baruto wins! Great job by Baruto here. Kisenosato had a lightning fast tachi-ai. Baruto caught him and pulled his head down for the easy win. Smart tactic by Kisen as I would have gone the speed route too but Baruto was ready for it.
M1w Tochinoshin (2-3) vs O2w  Kotoshogiku (3-2)
Easy win for Koto here. He got the mawashi underneath in seconds and took it effortlessly.
O2e  Kakuryu (4-1) vs S1e Goeido (3-2)
Goeido wins! Upset! He had a good grip on his left side and Kakuryu couldn't find his. He frantically searched for it but got overpowered in the mean time.
M2w Myogiryu (2-3) vs O1w  Kotooshu (1-4)
Kotooshu withdrew from the tournament, as JoshI predicted and he is gone. He said he has torn ligaments in his elbow, but believe me, the true problem is his lack of fighting spirit. He was uninspired and basically wasting everyone's time anyway so this isn't a big loss. I think his elbow could have been broken and he would have performed equally as bad.

Y1e Harumafuji (3-2)  vs M3e  Tokitenku (2-3)
Toki lost easily. He may have grabbed Harumafuji by the hair. Haruma went head first in and Toki tried to guide him out but ended up putting himself out.
M2e Chiyotairyu (3-2) vs Y1w  Hakuho (5-0)
Hakuho slapped him, went to the side and turned him for the easy win.
Rankings:
6-0: Hakuho and Azumaryu from Juryo.

5-1: Baruto, Shohozan, Jokoryu, and Shotenro.

4-2: Harumfuji, Kakuryu, Kotoshogiku, Goeido, Toyonoshima, Kitataiki, Okinoumi, Aoiyama, Takekaze, Masunoyama and Daido.

3-3: Kisenosato, Tochiozan, Chiyotairyu, Myogiryu, Kyokutenho, Fujiazuma, Yoshikaze, Takarafuji, Sadanofuji, Chiyonokuni, Oiwato and Wakanosato.

2-4: Takayasu, Tochinoshin, Tokitenku, Ikioi, Aran, Gagamaru and Sagatsukasa.

1-5: Aminishiki, Kaisei, Toyohibiki, Tamawashi and Sotairyu.

0-6: Tochinowaka(OUCH)

Overall thoughts: Today was alright. Nothing too special though. It's good to see Baruto on track and it is good to see Kotooshu calling it a day when he clearly couldn't care any less. Hakuho still looks strong out there and Jokoryu is performing nicely. I'm interested to see how long Azumaryu can stay undefeated as well.
