Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/07/wwe-evolve-792025.html
We are at the Performance Center. Pete Rosenberg and Robert Stone are on commentary.
Edris Enofe does an inset promo before his match. He asks why Jamar Hampton wants to impress him. He says while Jamar was on LFG, he was grinding and rehabbing just to get back. He says Jamar is here to prove himself but he says he has already proven himself. He says he's a million dollar talent and won't stop until Evolve is his domain.
Jamar Hampton vs Edris Enofe
EE side headlocks him. Jamar shoulders him over and taunts him. They shove each other. EE side headlocks him. EE double axe handles him on the back. Jamar does a high leapfrog and a crossbody. Jamar corner splashes him then slams him for 2. Jamar misses a dropkick and is lariated. EE hits double stomps.
EE chinlocks and sleepers him. EE hits a ddt for 2. EE headscissors him. EE jumps at him and is dumped over his shoulder. Jamar hits forearms then hits a big dropkick. Jamar hits a big splash for 2.
EE double boots him out of the corner. Jamar misses a splash. They fight on the apron. Jamar's throat is pulled down over the top rope connector. EE then straightjacket neckbreakers him to win.
Thoughts: The work was fine and Jamar kind of had a 1970's moveset here. It was a bit slow though and the finish wasn't the best.
Stevie Turner talks to Lince Dorado in the back. Stevie says he elevated the show to the next level and said it's fantastic that he brought The LWO in. Cruz says they will always support him because the are latino. Wilde says the original Evolve was important to his WWE journey, so this is a full circle moment. Wilde says they also need to scout the talent who might make it to WWE someday. Lince says he will make Evolve lucha lit.
Cappuccino Jones and Jack Cartwheel talk to the camera's. Jones said he asked Jack if he needed coffee and Jack said he had too much adrenaline already. Jones says their team name is now Adrenaline Drip because of it. Jack says he knew they would have great tag chemistry early on. Jones says the goal is the Evolve Tag Titles and they ask Stevie to make those titles. Jones says they want to make people feel something.
Thoughts: Tag titles were the obvious next move for Evolve and it looks like we will be getting them.
Layla Diggs vs Jin Tala
Diggs hammerlocks her. Jin side headlock takeovers her. Diggs headscissors her then headlock takeovers her. Jin headscissors her. They then stand off.
Diggs wristlocks her. Jin kips up and reverses it. Diggs flips out of it using the ropes. Jin sunset flips her but Diggs backrolls out. Diggs headhunters her. Diggs spinning slams her then hits a nice standing moonsault for 2.
Jin pulls Diggs' arm down over the top rope. Jin axe kicks her back. Diggs is sent into the buckles shoulder first. Jin takes her down by the arm and armlocks her.
Diggs hits forearms. Jin throws her down by the wrist. Jin backbreakers her for 2. Jin puts her legs around Diggs' neck and pushes forward. Diggs hits shoulders and a jumping side kick. Diggs forward cartwheel spears her in the corner. Diggs hits an axe kick on the back for 2. Jin then does a chin and arm lock and taps her out.
Thoughts: Diggs looked fine minus a bad axe kick but I still don't see it with Jin. The personality and charisma is just not there. The crowd sucked for this one as well. The one thing I can say is that Jin doesn't botch much, but she doesn't do much that really can be botched. She really reminds me of one of those WWF bodybuilder signings who doesn't move that well.
Jin is asked why she pulled Diggs' hair. She said she's doing what she was told to do - win. She says she's been kicking @ss all over Evolve. Chuey asks what that means and Jin tells her to keep up.
The Vanity Project talk in the back. Zayda asks if they are ready for the LWO. Drake isn't scared. Zayda says LWO means "Let's Watch Out". Brad says he can't wait to show out against them. Kali Armstrong and Natalya do a contract signing in the ring with Stevie Turner. Stevie says Kali defends her title for the first time next week against Natalya. Nat says Kali is the difference maker in Evolve and says she's amazing. She says she's the first Evolve champ too. She says Kali has been rude to her though.
Kali says she doesn't see it that way. She said it felt disrespectful the way Nat stared at her title and took the pin in the tag match. Kali says Nat won titles on other shows but Evolve is her show and she's not winning titles here.
Nat says Kali is selfish. She says Kali doesn't know what it's like to carry a division on her shoulders for 18 years. She says Evolve needs a woman who will lead the division in the future and not a spoiled brat. She says she'd love to go toe to toe with her. Kali tells her to sign the contract and Nat does. Kali says Nat can lead others to the future and not her. Kali takes a swing at her but Nat trips her and sharpshooters her.
Sean Legacy and Timothy Thatcher talk in the back. Tim says Sean is in a no win situation with the gauntlet. Sean says he just wants to be Evolve champ so bad. He says he'd do anything to get an opportunity. Tim says to use that passion to train harder. He says he can be champ but shouldn't be putting himself in stupid situations.
They talk about Keanu Carver. Sean says he's dangerous. Tim says he fears no man and said he disrespected the ID Program.
Keanu Carver does a promo while working out. KC says Thatcher wants to act like he's hard. He says TT is a grappler and a player coach.KC says he grew up throwing hands on the concrete and will drag his face across the concrete. He says he won't just beat him, he will embarrass him.
Chantel Monroe does a promo. She says the locker room has called her every name under the sun. She says some of it is true though as she doesn't call herself the reflection of perfection for nothing. She says she won't lower her standards. She says Kali is champ but it's just a matter of time until the title is around her waist instead.
The Vanity Project (Jackson Drake, Brad Baylor and Rick Smokes) vs The LWO (Joaquin Wilde and Cruz del Toro) and Lince Dorado
Lince and Smokes go at it. Smokes rubs his head and is pushed. Smokes shoulders him over. Lince hits leg kicks. Line armdrags him then slaps him in the back of the head. Line wristlocks him. Smokes knees him in the gut. Lince headstand spinning headscissors him then dropkicks him.
Wilde side headlock takeovers Brad. Brad side headlocks him. Wilde spinning reverse headscissors him. Brad takes a double back elbow. Wilde is hiptossed into the ropes and splashes Brad. Cruz bottom rope asai moonsaults Brad for 2. They all fight and we go to break.
We return and Brad knees Wilde in the gut. Brad pulls Wilde's head forward. Drake deadlift germans Wilde. Drake boots Wilde's gut in the corner and pounds on him. Drake legsweps Wilde for 2. Drake fireman's carry takeovers Wilde.
Brad euros Wilde over then Wilde is sent into Smokes' boot. Smokes chinlocks Wilde. Drake wristlocks Wilde. Wilde tags in Lince. Lince hits chops on Drake. Lince spinning heel kicks him and step up enzugiri's him. Lince germans him.
Lince back rakes him then hits a lethal injection that sends Drake over the top. Lince then tope con hilos him outside. Lince misses a corner move on Drake then superkicks him. Lince top rope moonsaults but Drake gets his feet up.

Cruz handspring enzugiri's Drake while Drake is up top. Lince goes up top and top rope hurricanrana's Drake onto Smokes and Brad. Cruz and Wilde do stereo topes out. Lince top rope ssp's Drake and pins him.
Thoughts: It was a good tag as expected. The faces flew and the heels were decent heels. We got a couple of nice flying spots and they may have set up Lince vs Drake for the Evolve Title with this. It wasn't anything super memorable but they did what they needed to do here.
Overall thoughts: Jamar/Enofe was fine but a little slow. Jamar continues to look good. Diggs/Jin was average. Diggs looked fine but Jin didn't add much to this. The main was a good main with The LWO flying around as expected and Vanity Project doing their job. I'd give it a 5 out of 10 as it as was an average show that had a low energy crowd who brought everything down. They did do a nice job though of building to some future things though and we got our first hint at possible Evolve tag titles.

I'm not athletic at all, so if I became a WWE superstar, I'm going to take as few bumps as possible, do the bare minimum in the ring, and everyone is going to hate it and going to have to deal with it. lol
ReplyDeleteI hear that.
DeleteOne thing I can say about Jin is she wrestles intelligently and realistically for what she can do at the moment, sometimes a lot of the most athletic wrestlers have a hard time getting that aspect of it down. I'd rather 2 people with limited skill and athleticism have a realistic looking match than 2 people having a glorified gymnastics routine with no story or ring psychology, but I grew up in the Late Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression Era, so my philosophy toward ring work is just going to be different I guess.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't botch or do anything stupid. You can definitely say that about her.
