New Japan Pro Wrestling 6/22/2013 - Dominion

I'll be doing selected matches.

Hirooki Goto vs Katsuyori Shibata

Katsuyori Shibata beat Hirooki Goto with a penalty kick to the chest. Good match here with a great crowd. They did the style I like which is lots of stiff moves in a under 15 minute match. I thought this could have been better but I really liked the effort they gave and they had a lot of good ideas. Shibata was very good and I really hope this leads to him in a main event soon because he deserves it. Rating:***1/2

Tetsuya Naito vs Yujiro Takahashi

Yujiro told us that this his girls had a G-Cup and a H-Cup bra size in a pre-match promo. That got a pop. Before anyone asks, cup sizes in Japan are different. G is similar to a C cup in the US and H is maybe a small D. I'll stick to the wrestling in the future, I promise.  Yujiro really feels like he is doing his best Yuji Hino impersonation.

Yujiro uses Vega from Street Fighter's german suplex

Tetsuya Naito won with a Stardust Press. Naito was good here but Yujiro was not. The match formula was fine but Yujiro has no connection with moves and just can't put together and interesting match. Naito really tried though with good bumps, playing to the crowd and some nice moves, but it just wasn't enough here. Give me Naito vs Tanahashi please.

Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Prince Devitt

Prince Devitt won with a high angle single arm DDT. I didn't like this one at all. It was all cheap interference and Tanahashi got almost nothing in. This was a total extended squash and had none of the stuff that made their last match good. Very disappointing match here.

IWGP Title - Kazuchika Okada vs Togi Makabe

Kazuchika Okada won with a Rainmaker Lariat. Surprisingly good match here. Togi stepped up, the crowd was very hot and they had some excellent near falls. I was kind of dreading this one but I actually really enjoyed it and thought it was a good effort by both guys. Okada also kept all of his stupid new moves out of it and it really helped things along. Both guys deserve credit for stepping up here. Rating:***1/2
